Dr. Anzola worked with me to explain not only the mechanics of my new hearing aids, but also the auditory physics behind hearing (for example, the way that some sounds are intrinsically softer than others, even at the same volume). And the need to concentrate on both hearing (receiving sounds) and listening (training the brain to interpret them). more

Worth the journey! 3/17/2014

A demanding yet fully-satisfied patient, I love Ascent Audiology even though it takes me 45 minutes each way (+ waiting time) via bus to get there: friendly, competent & professional, Dr. Ana Anzola is far much more knowledgeable than one might think from a 1st impression with this stylish audiologist! She heeds patient input, unlike many others in medical practice Her team is also excellent. Just hope she does not expand too rapidly. My environmental car sacrifice is worth it to stay with Ascent! more

Hear what you're missing 3/14/2014

You don't know what you've been missing until you start hearing well. Maybe you can hear people talking but can't understand all that they are saying [poor comprehension]. I've been wearing hearing aids for many years but my current set just had it's 7th anniversary! So I took a one-week test drive on a pair of Starkey Xions from Ascent Audiology. After running me through a hearing test in a sound-proof booth, Dr. Pilson* programmed aids to compensate for my high-frequency loss --think women's voices. I put them to every listening test I could think of that week and they performed magnificently! No feed-back buzz. Close to 100% comprehension -- even in a lecture hall and again in a restaurant. Things I used to have to strain to hear sounded normal. Amazing. If your hearing is less than perfect, test Starkey wireless aids and you too will be able to hear what you've been missing. *Dr. Pilson works out of offices in both Leisure World and on Deerfield Ave. more

Marci Smith is a caring and knowledgeable audiologist 3/7/2014

When I came in for my first appointment with Marci Smith, I know that I was in good hands. She was friendly, understood what I needed and then followed through. After I got my new hearing aids, she was open to my coming back until the hearing aids were perfectly adjusted. I just came back for my checkup after having the aids for a year and I still feel the same way about her. more

Blueprint for Businesses to Follow: 3/5/2014

I wasn’t sure what to expect of Dr. Anzola & her team because of my previous experiences with other audiologists. I’ve been wearing hearing aids my entire life and I’ve never received such undivided attention, treatment, and detailed explanation of hearing aid world. It’s amazing to watch Dr. Anzola and her team treat every patient with the same courteous, patient, helpful, and very professional attitude. If I knew then, what I know now, I would have gladly paid more for her services. I’m VERY glad I responded to her mailer and called for an appointment!!!! more

just great! 3/4/2014

I was apprehensive, as many are, about making the transition to having to use hearing aids...it's not like getting glasses, as many would agree. But from the moment I came to Marci's office and was tested, and followed her explanations of the results, and then was fitted for the devices - it was calming through and through. Not bad, considering I had told Marci early on that I have ADD and would skip around with my questions and would need her to repeat things often. Just great! more

When I walked into Marci Smith's office July 2013, it was with great skepticism and little hope . Over several years, since having an acute hearing loss as a result of gun shots at a shooting range, none of the audiologist I enlisted were successful in finding an instrument which helped. Thus my skepticism. The little hope I had in Ascent Audiology hinged on my recent diagnosis of atrophied macular degeneration and eventual blindness. I was anxious- just shy of frantic for hearing help. Marci Smith accepted a great challenge. Over a six month search for the "magic instrument", with great understanding, patience, kindness and persistence, she found it. Along the way, she never let me give up. To me, Marci is a unique individual, both professionally and personally. I consider her a friend, a warm and caring person to whom I shall always be indebted. I commend Ascent Audiology and am so grateful to be one of Marci Smith's success stories. more

Excellent, hignly professional service, provided in a very friendly manner. 1/21/2014

I went to Ascent after having been to about four other locations. My first visit made a great impression on me regarding the degree of concern about my hearing, the professional, caring approach, and the friendly attitude. The options that were explained to me regarding hearing aids, and the way this information was presented was a relief compared to some of the other audiologists I had encountered. I trusted what I was being told. After several years, my opinion has not changed. Always great service and straight talk! more

Courteous and professional service in a relaxing environment 1/1/2014

Normally when one is addressing a hearing loss, there is a sense of apprehension and embarrassment. From our first visit, the staff, And Dr. Ana made us feel comfortable and instilled us with a sense of really wanting to help and not just collect a bill. The service has been outstanding, timely and of a professional caliber sorely lacking in the health care industry of today. Not only were they able to correct a hearing loss, but provide the level of professional support and experience that puts this practice in a class all it's own. We have recommended Ascent of McLean to many of out friends and associates. (As an aside to their level of commitment, during the holidays, the office had a support mechanism that included delivery, reception and guard service all provided by the immediate family!) more

Very pleased with my product and Ascent Audiology's suport 12/19/2013

The staff at Ascent Audiology are first rate. Dr. Anzola suggested a Starkey Invisable in the Canal device and I have been very pleased with it. Dr. Pilson has done my periodic checks and arranged for the aid to be serviced for a wax buildup. I recommend Ascent Audiology for all hearing problems. more

A very caring office run by Marci Smith 12/12/2013

After years of wearing hearing aids that did not help my loss. I received a card from Ascent inviting me to try a new set of aids. I felt very comfortable talking to Marci Smith and told her what I was looking for (I had been to Gallaudet for an evaluation). She has worked with me to secure new aids and has spent considerable time adjusting the aids to my hearing level. I would recomend her to any having severe hearing loss such as I have. more
