Andrea's

We were seated for close to 30 minutes before our drink order was taken. This was after a discussion/argument among the staff to decide who was responsible for our table. Realizing how busy the restaurant was we ordered our complete meal when our drink order was taken hoping to alleviate some delays. We were wrong. When our salads finally arrived they sat on a tray a few feet from our table for 20 minutes until I was able to get the attention of another server to ask if they were for our table and request if we could serve ourselves. He promptly served us the salads. Our entrees did not arrive until more than an hour later after several requests. My Mother?s entr?e included a baked potato which came plain despite several requests for butter which never arrived. We are still waiting for our bread and butter to be served after asking several servers/staff. When our water glasses, tea glasses, & champagne glasses went empty they remained empty for the entire 3-hour meal despite numerous requests. Other tables in our section were having similar problems and at least one asked for the check after only receiving drinks. I realize Mother?s Day is a busy day for restaurants but we were disappointed to receive such horrendous service from such an established New Orleans restaurant. more

I had dinner May 1, 2011 at Andrea's. The experience I had was a night to remember. The service was excellent the waiter pick the perfect wine to go with our Veal dishes. The Veal was so tender it melted like cotton candy in my mouth.... I will definitely return..... more

I made 7:30 dinner reservations for my fianc? and I at Andreas for Saturday, February 12, 2011. We arrived at 7:15 and were told the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes. We found seats at the bar, and waited 20 minutes for the seemingly lost bartenders to finally look our way long enough for us to flag them down to get a drink. The bartenders complete lack of knowledge on the bar stock completely turned me off on even wanting a drink. We then waited an additional full hour (1:20 total wait) before we witnessed the arrogant host seat two groups that arrived after we did, apologizing profusely to them for their wait. It's at that time that we left. more

It's at that time that we left.\r \r I would understand this wait and the seating of others ahead of us had we not made a reservation (which was confirmed the morning of by a female from the restaurant). But with the reservation, an hour and 20 minute wait is completely unacceptable. You may as well not even take reservations!\r \r I've eaten at Andreas many times when I lived in New Orleans and Metairie, and I truly enjoy the food. But there is no excuse for the arrogance of the host, the incompetence of the bar staff, and the ineffectiveness of the reservation process. I will not be back to Andreas - EVER. And I'm certainly going to stop suggesting it to my out-of-town friends looking for the local place to get a great meal. After an hour and a half, we were seated in a room that was opened to accomodate the people who had been waiting for so long. The room was next to a reception where a band was playing and it was very loud. Many people after they were seated asked to be moved. We were seated in the bar area after we asked to be moved!! We just came from the bar area after an hour and a half of sitting there!! The food was very mediocre. We will not be back!! more

I see that another contributor has already commented upon the unsatisfactory service and cuisine provided by Andrea's on Christmas Day 2010. I phoned in on 12/27 to complain; and, instead of being listened to, was told that I was the ""first person to complain"" about the service (as if that would make any difference). Also, the young lady I spoke with wasn't interested in taking my report, but promised to ""find my ticket"" and get back with me. Not to my surprise, I have not heard from anyone at Andrea's since. Andrea's seems to have become comfortable with bad service, bad food, and bad management. Too bad for its patrons. more

Then, prime rib turned out to be ribeye steaks; and, the list of problems just goes on. The service was more than bad, the food was not good, and our tradition is in question! more

At Andrea's the food was good and the service excellent.\r We're glad we went there because we almost didn't go because of the poor reviews. The wait staff was extremely attentive and Andrea himself went to every table to ask how everything was going and how we liked the food. We could not have asked for anything more. We were made to feel very comfortable there. As I have seen on television, Andrea is very active in the New Orleans community, always donating his time and food to worthy causes. I have to admit that it is a little pricey. We will definitely go back again. more
