Best

This place serves up some awesome cocktails as well some of the best dj's above ground. I love the atmosphere and the snug dance floor and although some aren't dancing but it alw...

Worst

This place sucked. First off, it was completely over crowded, the guys at the door gave our friends some lame excuse as to why we couldn't get in(he should have just said it was ...

I wish I stayed home... 9/22/2010

Was almost empty, no wonder the drink were too pricey! everything was too pricey... After my friend arrived we just left somewhere else... more

Average bar, but way to narrow 2/8/2007

I can understand why some people like it. We stopped by after visiting Loft 11, don't bother. Wish is nothing bad, nice crowd, but gets easily packed, due to size. The bar takes up most of the place and the music is way loud. Theres no dance floor and its a bar folks. Anyway, my only problem is the how narrow the place is. Pros: nice crowd Cons: to narrow, easily gets packed, due to size more

If you like a tiny packed, wall-to-wall crowded venue 12/26/2006

then this is your place. the drinks were ok but my biggest gripe is the size of the bar. i went to anu bar on 6th a couple weeks ago and even though that venue is considered small, wish is like half the size with NO dance area. and along with the size of the venue it was so packed my friends and i had tons of difficulty navigating the narrow walkway (getting bumped into and spilling drinks or having it spilled on us as we went). the dance music was decent but very average for s.f. it wasn't until a guest dj from the internationally known ""dirtybirds"" showed up that the music got MUCH better. unfortunately, the scenesters & amateurs had no clue about the music and the crowd began to thin out. so, other than the occasional guest dj's that may be dj'ing, there isn't any real reason to go to wish again. Pros: occasional guest dj's Cons: TOO small and packed, so-so music most of the time, scenesters more

Great on weekdays I assume 11/24/2006

This place gets PACKED on weekends. I liked it a lot because of the great music being spun. However, it reminds me of an LA bar with how packed it is. I love the vibe, the music and the drinks... just regulate the door a bit. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Too crowded on weekends more

Perfect place to boogie or lounge. 10/21/2006

This place serves up some awesome cocktails as well some of the best dj's above ground. I love the atmosphere and the snug dance floor and although some aren't dancing but it always seems like they would like to be dancing. more

Great Spot for after work 5/16/2006

Nice and chill and they make the best Scooby Snacks! I enjoy the weekdays after work where they play good music and its not so crowded. Thanks! Pros: service, drinks Cons: 1 bathroom more

Best bar in SoMa 9/23/2005

This is a great place! I love the location, and loved the space The staff couldn't be more friendly. From what i hear, it gets extremely crowded on the weekends. I went on a weekday night, and loved it. more

Favorite bar! 8/6/2005

I love this place. Always a mainstay and always recommend it to friends. Great value on drinks, fabulous music, great ambience & decor. Crowd is diverse, fun, hip, of many races & ages, but never pretentious. more

laid-back crowd, but not boring 7/12/2005

there was a good mixed crowd (maybe spilloever from the other bars and clubs in teh area). it was low-key but was still clean, classy, and had a great drinks menu. i'm used to sendig tequila down in shots, but the chamucos tequila is a great one to sip. yummmmy. both the girl and guy bartending that night gave great service. the music was a bit genric, but it was fun to see the dj and his friends dancing and having a great time in the back. Pros: drinks, service, ambeince more

My Bar 1/9/2005

This is my new fav. lounge. I just moved here from the East Coast and love the atmosphere of this place. Great drinks (sweet leilani!) awesome bartenders, the funkiest DJ's, and really good popcorn! Sushi Groove across the street is the perfect start! Pros: Bartenders, Drinks, Music more

Very Cool 9/9/2004

Very nice lounge/bar. Has a distinct NY feel. Great drink menu with a huge liquor selection. The decor is very cool and the music is completely original. Pros: dj's, bar staff, cocktail list Cons: , parking, only 2 bathrooms more

Great lounge! 8/29/2004

Its hard to believe that this place has been around as long as it has and this week was my first visit. Based on the reviews my expectations were set pretty high and Wish didn't disappoint. The bartenders were fast and friendly (even when I changed my mind repeatedly), the djs were awesome! and the place just has a great little vibe. My recommendation, go early and grab one of the leather couches up front and its yours for the night. Pros: Service, Music, Atmosphere Cons: , No Food more

good for post happy hour 3/16/2004

My friends and I hit this place up because it has a late happy hour and it was great. The server was very very friendly, the drinks were decent and the ambiance was ok. It wasn't too packed when we went (on a weeknight), so we were able to find a booth. I would definitely go again, espcially for a post happy hour party spot more

It's great! 2/14/2004

If you're in the area or need a pre-drink before some booty shakin'- go here. Drinks are good and the bartenders are flirty, fun and attentive. The ambience is a bit dark, but great for putting you in the mood. The crowd is a good mix of people. Pros: location, service, atmosphere more

Best Little Bar in SoMa 1/2/2004

I've been going to wish for a few years now, and I've never had a bad time or drink there. The bartenders are great, friendly and helpful. They have the best tequila selection (they're the ONLY bar that I've found who serve my favorite - Chamucos). Great place to lounge or talk with people. Fantastic DJ's. Check out their Om Lounge on Fridays. Pros: Great DJ's, Great tequila Cons: No dance floor more

sweet place 12/26/2003

I loved wish! I loved the service, the bartenders are always sweet, fast, and fun! I usually go early in the week and it is just the pace I am looking for. A clean bar, mellow, friendly and comfortable. The exceptional reason for trying out wish is the service. Being a female i usually get the attitude from other females behind the bar, but not here. Rare in this city to find that. The music is usually really loungy for happy hour and 3 beers only cost me 6 bucks. Thanks wish... I will definately be back! Pros: service, bartenders, happy hour Cons: closed on sundays more

pleasant surprise 11/24/2003

anyone who doesn't like this bar just doesn't like small settings. this is by far one of the best bars ive been to in SF. I grew up in the bay area, did the clubbin' scene in the 90s, am still a solid bar hopper, and found this bar stumbling from butter one night to meet a friend. ITs great. Loungy, awesome decor, served right away when I went in (both times ive gone on saturday nights). Great people in there-met cute guys every time ive gone in there. That doesn't happen too much in SF for me sinc eI chose to stay away from the Marina. Anyhow, this was a great bar/club. You'd like it for the fun atmosphere. more

Great fun in a tiny slice of Soma 9/20/2003

I have to admit, I didn't expect much from this bar. I hadn't even heard of it until friends suggested it as a pre-party before DNA and 1015. I didn't even expect much when I got to it, saw Holy Cow wish the iconic cow hanging down, and saw how small WISH is. But after I made it inside, saw the inviting bar and seating areas, heard the DJ pumping out fun, unusual dance tunes, and saw some people trying their damnedest to dance on the tiny dance floor...well, ok, it was small, but it was a blast! Check it out. Pros: fun crowd/atmosphere, good music, easy to meet people Cons: small!!! more

""Wish"" I had more money... 8/3/2003

Went here out of curiosity while walking around SOMA before heading to DNA. Nice vibe and atmosphere. Live DJ, great music. Mainly a late 20's to late 30's crowd (I'm in my early 20's). I noticed a higher ratio of guys to girls--and girls were usually with their dates. Bartender was nice, good service. The only thing that caught me by surprise was how expensive our drinks were. I ordered 2 drinks for me and my boyfriend and it came up to about $20, but I enjoyed the drinks anyway. If you come down here, make sure you got money to spend if you plan to drink the night away. Also remember, this is not a club, it's more of a lounge where you can sit (if you get there early enough) and drink with your friends. Pros: service, music, atmosphere Cons: too many guys, expensive drinks more

Best SoMa Bar 7/14/2003

Wish is by far the greatest bar in SoMa - I found Wish after reading a write-up in WallPaper Magazine - to think I live in SoMa and had never heard of it before! The staff at Wish are friendly and fast. The atmosphere is sexy, and the lighting makes everyone look great. The music is always unique and not the usual house you always hear everywhere else. This is by far my favorite bar in San Francisco. Pros: great music, great atmosphere, great bartenders Cons: crowded on weekends more
