Best

This place serves up some awesome cocktails as well some of the best dj's above ground. I love the atmosphere and the snug dance floor and although some aren't dancing but it alw...

Worst

This place sucked. First off, it was completely over crowded, the guys at the door gave our friends some lame excuse as to why we couldn't get in(he should have just said it was ...

My favorite haunt! 6/13/2003

I call this the neighborhood bar where few of us live in the neighborhood. I love it early, and the happy hour is a great bargain. My favorite nights are Monday for Solid, and Friday after work for either Om Lounge or Flavasauce. The service is simply the best in town. You get to feel like a star yet still relax in a welcoming environment. The music here is excellent every night of the week, with a who's-who of local DJ talent lining up to play. Enjoy! Pros: service, music, happy hour more

great little neighborhood place 5/20/2003

the bartenders were very attentive-professional-good looking drinks were priced really fair-especially for around here ($6 kettle vodka etc...) (around the corner-""the public"" kettle vodka drinks are $8) a huge selection of alchohol (great tequila selection) very well worth it- although some of the patrons were trying too hard-vapid & trendy the people at the door were friendly more

A local's opinion 4/25/2003

Wish is just fine before about 9:00...before that, it's mostly a neighborhood bar with friendly service, a nice vibe and good (but overpriced) drinks. After 9:00, the later it gets the closer Wish gets to the too-horrible-to-name bar next door. God knows we need the out of town business, but I'd rather drink somewhere else when the cheap dates from Walnut Creek come rolling through the door. And one word about the door staff: learn who lives in the neighborhood, guys. You piss off the wrong local with some lame velvet-rope move, and you're going to start getting some unwanted attention from the authorities. more

Still a charm 4/10/2003

I've been going to WISH since it opened - thank you for being the best neighborhood sexy lounge. My girls and I wouldn't know what to do without our weekly hang! See you soon - more

Best experience 3/13/2003

This weekend was my first trip to Wish and I had an amazing experience. The bartender was awesome and the vibe even better. We came for Happy hour and decided to go to Sushi Groove for dinner. Naturally SG was packed and we forgot to make resies. The bartender suggested we order in and even called our order in for us. The SG people ran the food over and we never lifted a finger. They have a great system going on between them. It was one of the best nights I have had in the city - everyone took great care of us. more

this is a good bar 3/13/2003

this is the way a bar should be, awesome bartenders, great service, semi-hot chix. good value for happy hour and tuesdays. parking is a beeotch on weekends, but a good place to go. one thing, the marina crowd sushi groove spill over does bum me out a bit. love, dd more

Sweet! 3/9/2003

This is the best south of market bar. Great bartenders (HOT bartenders), great vibe. more

Cozy, cozy 3/8/2003

Wish is like a big cashmere sweater - always warm, comfortable and you never want to leave it. more

Lower your expectations 2/27/2003

I walked in one early evening to meet up with a friend. It wasn't busy at all, but I still sat there for probably 10 - 15 minutes while the bartender chatted on the phone before even coming over to take my order. And the drink ended up tasting terrible. more

Good, old-fashioned, honest review! 2/27/2003

Wish is just a bar, and a pretty small one at that. There are no gimmicks here. It is very well decorated with very flattering lighting. There are great places to sit if you come with friends and you get there early enough to grab some seats. The music is always consistent and the drinks are great. What separates this bar from others are the little things - particularly the staff. They go out of their way to know everyone by name and to get to know you as people. They recognize you and they recognize your drink. The people that come are a mix of SF people, but light on the marina crowd and light on the financial crowd. As with any bar, the weekends are not the the time to go. This is a solid bar for those who are comfortable with themselves. more

boring 2/25/2003

I don't quite see any allure to this place. Unless you're just hard up for a drink, but then you might as well brown bag it out in the alley. Trust me, pass on this one. more

Stellar! 2/22/2003

I really love this place. It's a small unassuming bar where the people take great care of you. I am there every few weeks and the staff treat me like part of them. You can call ahead, or email, and they'll reserve you a nice spot on the weekend - provided they have space - so you get a little privacy amidst the weekend chaos. Keep up the good work! Pros: the bar Cons: no longer a secret more

Solid DJ Bar 2/20/2003

I think ""drinkspilla"" confused Wish with Whisper... especially since Wish doesn't have a downstairs! Wish has is a great DJ lounge (read: not club) and place to hang in SOMA. No cover, warm decor, nice staff. The weekends are pretty crowded, I have always gone here on Tuesday or Wednesday nights to chill. DJs are always solid. Pros: Good DJ Lineups, Warm interior, Friendly Staff Cons: Crowded on weekends more

stinky 2/16/2003

I like an easy goin place where I can relax, have a few drinks, and enjoy the crowd. Not a good place for this. And there was an anoying stinky stench that lingered while I was there. Perhaps some backed up sewage or something. more

A great place to chill! 2/12/2003

This place is a gem! Great cocktails and attentive service in a really comfortable bar. The DJ spins tunes to set the mood. The lighting it flattering and not too bright. The bartenders are quick and and on point The space is sweet on the eyes -- I love the comfy couches! Pros: service, music, lighting Cons: small, parking on weekends more

European Flair 2/7/2003

Wish is a nice change from the offerings in soma - it has a cozy European feel with a NYC vibe. Granted, the door guys can be a bit too much -don't make the mistake of showing up with a group of guys- although I appreciate their efforts on maintaining ""the ratio"". All-in-all a nice ""neighborhood"" lounge. Pros: good atmosphere, great service, good music Cons: door attitude, lines on weekends more

Best Service in Town 2/7/2003

I accidentally stumbled into this place and found the best service I have ever seen in a bar. The girls behind the bar are on it - coming out to the floor and bartending at the same time. Really impressive. The bar itslef is also gorgeous - dark and sexy. It was a pleasant surprise, especially after the Cow joint next door (another accidental stumble). Pros: bartenders, couches more

Super Chill 1/14/2003

I love this place because of it's relaxed atmosphere. The drinks are awesome, the bartenders and barbacks (all chicks) are super cool and everyone goes out of their way to make sure you're having a great time. The music is awesome all the time and it looks like DJ's just stop on in for a spin...no major structure, just lots of fun. Pros: chill Cons: no smoking more

WISH-ing for a Better Time 12/20/2002

This place sucked. First off, it was completely over crowded, the guys at the door gave our friends some lame excuse as to why we couldn't get in(he should have just said it was too crowded and we could have left). By the time we did get in, we realized it was completely not worth it. This bar, stuck in the dotcom dream world, is decorated beautifully. But in general, the vibe sucked. Drinks were expensive and in general was just a bunch of people acting hip and cool. The scene kind of reminded me of LA, but the Hollywood scene has far less snobbery. Not a good place for a big group, we had 20 people or so and it was too loud to carry on a conversation and the dance floor was miniscule...if that was a dance floor... Pros: Cool decor Cons: Expensive, Crowded, Too Narrow more

Simply the best 12/18/2002

Thank you for a great party WISH. I had my birthday party here and you guys are a class act -from reserving the table, to the complimentary birthday drinks, to just taking great care of everyone. Leilani is the best bartender around and everyone LOVED her! Pros: Service, Wish Twist (so good) Cons: Bathroom line, Parking more
