Nice Experience 9/12/2011

I have been living in this neighborhood for forty years.I have been in Warshaw, but am busy in the city and go to my house in Pa.and do most of my shopping there. My toilet broke and I went and talked to Ed. He was so helpful and patient..I bought a replacement part and could not get it fixed by myself. I went back three times in one day. Finally, he suggested someone to fix it ,that I could afford. After that I seemed to fix it. Not a slick store but what is more important , you get someone who serves you, with a calm manner. Great store..will be back there. RS more

A hardware store with personal service 6/13/2011

I did not know Edward's father. However, I found my experience with Edward to be excellent! He is a very honest, personable man who knows his business very well. I rented a Rug Doctor from the store and the machine was in mint condition. When you deal with him, you know you are being heard!!! That's why we keep on going back to Warshaw. more

Thank you, Warshaw! 5/27/2011

Edward, like his Father before him, is the utmost helpful and knowledgeable hardware store owner. He is able to explain in the simplest of terms how to fix anything you need fixed. And then he hands you the most affordable parts to do so. Thank you, Warshaw! more

A Great Neighborhood Hardware Store 5/17/2011

It's hard to find a neighborhood hardware store that's got brass and stainless steel nuts, bolts, and machine screws by the piece. No blister packs here! They're as pleasantly helpful with a 27 cent purchase as they are with a $50 dollar purchase. And they're always willing to help you design the solution to whatever big or small problem that gets you to the store in the first place. more

NOT HOME DEPOT! BETTER! More knowledgeable and caring! 5/5/2011

I have been a customer of this hardware store now about sixteen years and have found none like it anywhere around. The only way you can find a comparable business is to go back in time forty years and remember when the customer was valuable and was treated like his or her problem was their problem. The big orange store(home depot) is down the block but has no one who even pretends he or she cares about the customer not through their fault but how they are treated as employees. Warshaw has every item you can possibly require and if they do not have it in their basement storage they will order it for you right away. I see the comment of ?ONLY WHEN THE STORE IS EMPTY? down below and must disagree with their statement. Versesi is a shell of a store where their knowledgeable staff were eliminated because business was so bad. Yes-you can get up to their counter right away but the reason is because no one shops there because the prices are higher and the customer service is less. Carl and Eddie from Warshaw not only know where every nut and bolt is, they are knowledgeable about just about everything. Carl, I believe, is a master electrician and Ed is a master jack of all trades up to including an excellent locksmith. I hear them talking to their clients about fixing all sort of equipment even including air conditioners. They are the only hardware store I know in this economy that will recommend another hardware store if they can not help them right away. Yes-you can go to home dumpo or versasi on 23rd street but why would you? Take a step back in time and go to Warshaw hardware. I have not been disappointed in almost two decades. more

Best Little Independent Hardware Store 1/21/2011

Yes, it may appear crowded and chaotic upon entering, but this is by far the best hands-on, full-service independent hardware store around. Not only is the owner incredibly knowedgeable, but he is able to cram a lot more than one might think in the shop. He will either hand you exactly what you need, or put it on order for the next day. A real old-fashioned shop with plenty of character. Never a bad experience. more

Only when the store's empty 12/28/2009

If the store is empty, go right in. You will find the owner behind the counter and he is warm and friendly, ready to use his vast knowledge and problem-solving insights to solve whatever problem you bring him. But if you are in line and a regular customer comes in, expect to be treated like dirt. The regular skips to the head of the line and gets all the time and attention he or she wants, discussing their grandchildren, vacation plans etc at length while you cool your heels. If there's a line, do yourself a favor and go to Vercesi on 23rd street. Pros: Extremely knowledgable and sometimes very helpful Cons: Rude if you are not a regular more

best customer friendly hardware store in midtown 7/20/2008

the service that is provided is excellent..and you are well taken care of. personally..and never feel that you are in one of those major hardware stores like HOME DEPOT ..etc where there is no attention given to you. ..A few times that I did shop there. I was helped by either of the the two owners,,who happen to be brothers also...Carl and Eddie.. they we very patient and listened to my problem and gave me just the right advice that I needed to get the job done and even suggested the items I needed...the store is a bit cramped.. but their abundunce of tools and merchandise makes up for it, and even if they do not have a certain item you need.. they will order it for you. Pros: great selection of merchandize, excellent customer service Cons: cramped up store, narrow isles, sort of dusty more
