From classic beauty to the glamorous style of punk, whatever you want is what Megumi gives you! From amazing highlights to straightening the curliest of locks, she can do it all. The first challenged I presented her with, was to fix this botched up do created by a mad stylist with a razor!! Forty minutes later, I was smiling instead of crying! One of the best salons in Chicago! 5/6/2005

I was in need of a big color change when a friend recommended Joesph Michael. I wanted to change my hair color from brown to blonde, and was a little hesistant, only because other salons had tried before and my hair always turned out orange. I went to Megumi at Joesph Michael, told her exactly what I wanted and 2 hours later, I was finally a natural looking blonde! I couldn't have been happier with the way my hair turned out. The staff at the salon was great and very helpful, and Megumi is one of the best colorists I've had (and I've gone to a lot!) I would recommend Joesph Michael to anyone, especially those looking for a great colorist (ask for Megumi!) Pros: Friendly staff, Great colorist Cons: Appt not on time more

Fabulous. Best haircut of my life. 4/1/2005

I've only gotten a few haircuts at the salon, but this is definitly the best hair I've had in years. JD is just wonderful. He's very in tune with the customer. I always feel as though he is giving me his undivided attention, something I have rarely gotten from other stylists in the past. I just love this place. I highly recommend it. more

The best, hands down 3/28/2005

When I moved to this city I tried a lot of different salons until I found Joseph Michael's. And as long as I'm in Chicago, I'll never go anywhere else. Renata gives the best waxing a person could ever hope to get. She's meticulous, super nice, funny, and quick, too. Daniel is superb at cutting hair and is very skilled at color and highlights. When he did my hair on my wedding day, it lasted until I went to bed at 2am. I never had to touch it. He's that good. The staff is always friendly and no one is ever snooty or condescending. The salon has a warm atmosphere and the women at the front desk are always nice and helpful. It's not an inexpensive salon, but you get what you pay for here. I think it's worth every penny. more

For the last three and a half years I have had one after another fantastic experience at this salon. The staff is courteous and glad to be there for you. They are always on time, well organized and experts on their trade. The welcoming staff at the reception desk can not be any friendlier. They give you their undivided attention, immediately take care of you and ensure that you are quickly serviced. As a Chicago resident for the last twenty years, I have gone from high end to high end salon looking for the quality of service delivered time after time by Joseph Michaels without the stuffy ambiance. Wonderful facial 3/20/2005

I went to Renata for a facial after dealing with breakouts for about 6 months. I had tried dermatologists and prescription creams, all which seemed to make my skin worse. The facial was AMAZING. It was soothing and relaxing and also therapetuic--she removed many of the impurities and my skin was glowing when I left. I have been faithfully returning and have not had a single breakout for months now! My skin looks amazing. Try the facials and also the peels which are gentle yet deliver spectacular results! I travel a great distance to get my hair cut at Joseph Michael's. I highly recommend Sally and Amy. I have never had a bad hair cut by either of these wonderful stylist. Before finding Sally and Amy it was always a hit or miss, mostly a miss. You can not go wrong at Joseph Michaels. The front desk and everyone there is very professional and extremely friendly. A Gold medal for this Gold Coast Establishment 3/14/2005

I went on my instinct and a recommendation from a friend to go to Joseph Michaels to get my hair cut. That was great! Knowledgeable and very stylish, modern approach to cutting and styling. I was very impressed with how little I had to say for Megumi to have my hair say so much. I went to get a message on my second visit and it was incredible as well. I was used to the mediocre massages at my fitness centre and definitely was shocked to find out what a true massage was like. Finally...I found a stylist! 3/14/2005

I have lived in Chicago for amost 2 years now and I have never found a "cut" that I have loved. I found JM on citysearch. They have a great website were you can read all about there salon, and there are Bio's of all there employee's...I read Lelands and decied to go to her for my next cut. She trully has given me the best cut not only in Chicago, but the best cut I have EVER had. Her love and passion for her career SHINES through her, from when she greets you at the front to the very end of my visit. The Front desk was very helpful as well and I will be back! Homa is an absolutely incredible manicurist (and pedicurist!) and Joseph Michaels is an amazing find. Homa is exceptional -- she will definitely become your best friend, and the best thing that ever happened to your nails. She is not only skilled but meticulous (honestly, an artist), and also an engaging and generous person. I was so impressed with the care and attention that Homa paid, with the way my nails looked, and how much fun I had while there, that I immediately signed up for my own "standing" spot... and I have never been disappointed. And Joseph Michaels is also never disappointing... it manages to be a sophisticated, cutting edge salon, with all of the services, products and skilled technicians you could hope to find, in a beautiful, modern and luxurious environment, while at the same time being comfortable and friendly. STAY AWAY!! 3/11/2005

I went to Joseph Michael's last week and the environment isn't quite as peaceful as I thought it would be. The woman who gave me a facial was very aggressive in persuading me for additional services (i.e. masks) and even though I refused, she continued to pressure me. It made me uncomfortable and uneasy that she would not do a good job when I still refused. My friend and I went in to get a facial together and within a day or two both of our faces started peeling. I have never in my life been to a spa where my skin has undergone such torture. STAY AWAY! Cons: sales pressure, bad service, bad staff more

I find the place very boring, the atmpsphere was very basic and unimaginitavie and the therapist seemed like she was going through the motions of a massage with her mind and heart totally somewhere else. BEST MASSAGE EVER! 3/11/2005

Being male, I was hesitant to go to a male massage therapist. However, when I called Joseph Michael's to set up a massage appointment, they convinced me to give Daniel a try. And I am extremely glad I did! It was, hands down, the best massage I've ever had. I will never go to another massage therapist again. In fact, after my appointment, I bought a 60-minute massage gift certificate for my wife...and now she is hooked too! We are now regulars of Joseph Michael's, thanks to Daniel. After the massages being that great, we can't wait to try many of their other services! more

Great Salon 3/2/2005

I have been a regular client at Joseph Michael's for over 5 years.....getting weekly manicures, pedicures monthly and hair styling every 4-5 weeks. I wouldn't THINK of going anywhere else. After trying many other salons in the city, Irina gives the BEST manicure/pedicure anywhere and Daniel is absolute professional hair stylist. DANIEL'S AMAZING MASSAGE 2/23/2005

I've had many massages in the past, and I can honestly say that Daniel is the most skilled, talented massage therapist I've ever experienced. He is absolutely wonderful....a natural. He makes you feel completely comfortable and relaxed. His massages are perfection. Get a 60 minute though--because 30 minutes only leaves you wanting more! You'll feel like a new person after his magic touch. Also, the front desk staff is extremely warm and welcoming. What sweethearts! They make a great first impression.
