I was in Chicago for work and was in desperate need of a good haircut. It had been 5 months since I last got my haircut in Seatte--a bad cut, way too short and choppy. (I have long, really thick hair--so, a good haircut is really important.) I picked Joseph Michael's Salon after reading the other reviews on Citysearch and was able to get an appointment the same day I called. Michelle is an experienced stylist who recently moved to Chicago (from Seattle) and had just started at the salon. She corrected my previous stylist's mistakes and gave me a great haircut. She was friendly and helpful; she listened to what I wanted and didn't force her own ideas. Not only did she give me a great haircut, but she gave me great advice about where to explore during my time in Chicago. She even referred me to a new stylist in my hometown! If only *she* still lived in Seattle, my search for the right stylist would finally be over! more

Best facial in the city!!! I'm truly amazed after going to Joseph Michaels's for 3 years now that Renata's facials are still the best thing in the city. My girlfriends and I tried 10 different salons until we met her. If you have problematic, acne skin or tired, dull looking skin and need to refresh, go see Renata. After first treatment you will see the difference. Since day one I have listened to her advises, sticked to products that she suggested and my skin looks amazing. I know it has been said so many times on here but Spyros is really fantastic. I had just moved to Chicago and had gotten extensions before moving here. I was so nervous about who would take care of them for me...or who would be able to dry them! Surprisingly I went to several high end salons in the city and people were either annoyed I had them or just had no clue what they were doing. When I found Spyros I was so happy. He made me feel so comfortable and gave me terrific styles week after week that no one else could do w/my extensions in. Not only that but he removed them for me and made it completely painless and fast. I even got to see some of his extension work on another client while I was there one day and she looked fantastic. I've heard so much buzz about how a great cut can make styling it painless. I never understood this saying until I met Spyros Petros. After having my hair cut by numerous different stylists my entire life no one ever found the curl in my hair except spyros. Spyros was the first stylist to tell me that I had a natural wave in my hair that could be turned into a curl with proper styling. Spyros has a true talent for what he does and because of that I wnat to share my experience with everyone else. I celebrated my 22nd birthday at Joseph Michael's with eight of my friends. We booked a month in advance and we all booked awareness packages. From the moment we stepped in, we were treated like queens. The services were wonderful (Danny, Irina, and Renata are as good as they come). We ended up spending the entire day there and the entire staff was attentive to the very end. Please give the salon a try, you will not regret it. I am a penny pinching financial analyst, and I gladly gave them unprovoked tips of nearly 35%. It is totally worth it!! I have been getting hair extensions from Spyros for over 2 years now. I got them for my wedding and now he helps me to keep the same length. I've never been able to have long hair until now. i received the worst highlights i've ever received from a salon. not only did the hair stylist not include a toner, i went back to have him fix it to no avail. i don't recommend this salon. my hair was fried by the time he was done, and i went to another salon to have the work fixed. more

Daniel continously provides the best hair cuts. He LISTENS extremly well, knows how to give the best cut for your face shape/hair texture and is extremly skilled/talented. Try Daniel once and you will be hooked! Sonya is hands down the best colorist I have ever been to. My brunette hair always looks rich and super shiny...with just the right amount of subtle highlights for dimension. Sonya is exceptionally skilled and her upbeat, friendly personality is always something I look forward to. Give Sonya a try for your next color...you won't be disappointed! The swedish massage I had with Danny at Joseph Michael's was the most relaxing and tension relieving one I have ever had. I carry A LOT of tension in my neck and upper back. I go for a massage about three -four times a year, and the tension usually creeps back in on my walk home. NOT THE CASE today! I am still so relaxed I need to go take a nap. I am trying to figure out if I can afford to go monthly. It is definitely worth. He was professional, adjusted to my needs and had great technique. I went here recently to get extensions with Laura and they look amazing. I have hair that never seems to get long, so one of my friends referred me to Laura. They take a long time to put in, but I have never had so many compliments on my hair. They look and feel so natural. Now my hair holds curl, it never would with my fine hair. I had always been envious of the long gorgeous hair I would see in magazines, but my own fine hair just wouldn't cooperate. The thought of extensions seemed ridiculous -- too much work, too expensive, etc., but I was always curious. I asked my (also fabulous) colorist at Joseph Michael's, JAMES, about them and he introduced me Spyros to learn more. 2 weeks later I was in Spyros' chair for my Great Lengths extensions, and it was, by far, the best (hair) decision I've ever made. The hair matches my color perfectly, and was blended so well that everyone who has seen me just assumed it was my own, and just grew really fast. I can wear it straight or wavy, and it's super easy to take care of. Spyros promised I would love it, and would be hooked -- I definitely am. I've been coming for a year now to see Renata at Joseph Michael for a facial. After years of searching for a great esthetician (Gold coast and downtown area) I almost lost my hope, until a friend reccomended Renata. My skin cleared up after 3 visits and I don't get breakouts anymore (I still cannot believe it). I guess she just has that gift, not only skill but she knows exactly what creams are really going to work for you. My skin looks so much younger, tighter and refreshed. It's amazing. I saw Charmaine for a facial. She has a very friendly personality. I thoroughly relaxed during the facial. She was thorough in discussing my skin. Her massage techniques are heavenly. Stacey is the best Esthetician EVER!!!! I have been seeing Stacey for my facials and waxing for quite some time now. She is very personable, outgoing, and boy does she know skin!!!! Her facial massage is amazing!!! I get complements on my skin and eyebrows all the time. She is also one of the few Estheticians that are trained with the latest hard wax for Brazilian waxing, it is so much less painful than strip wax. more

I've been coming to J-D for my hair color and cuts for over a year. He is the best colorist in Chicago, hands down. He's never running late and I so appreciate that. i have been coming to joseph michaels for just under a year now and have never had a bad exerience. the staff are professional and give expert services. Maggie is wonderful for manicures and pedicures. Renata gives wonderful facials and is very skilled with skin care. i have had peels, dermabrasion, waxing, lash and brow tinting with Renata and have been more than satisified. she does an impecible job with all services. i recently had a cut with Melanie who also did a beautiful job with my hair. thank you all!!!
