I am a fairly new customer to Joseph Michael and am extremely happy there. I actually followed Michele from her previous salon.This place is am improvement and Michelle is the same as before, fantastic. I really love the changes she has made to my hair, she has given me bangs when I wanted them and made them look great with lots of layers to go along with them. I usually wait too long in between cuts, but it grows out great which is just as important as the initial cut, I think. have had some great color done by her and it is a pleasure to sit in her chair, I am never uncomfortable or bored because she is lots of fun, which is refreshing when you spend an hour with someone. I have referred a bunch of friends to her and have heard nothing but great things about her when they thank me for the tip. I had been getting my haircut by the same woman for 8 years when I met Michelle. I was hesitant to leave my hairdresser, but Michelle had started cutting a couple of my friends' hair and they always looked great! My hairdresser started to cut back her hours and I needed to get my hair trimmed... So, I bit the bullet and went to Michelle. I was nervous and she put me at ease and my hair looked great. I have been going to see her ever since. When I wanted a trim, she did it, when I said cut it all off she did that too. She's great and she knows what she's doing. I have never had so many compliments on a haircut (even when I have let it grow out for 3 months). If you go to Joseph Michael's- Go to Michelle! more

I have been to Spyros for extensions and Anna for color - they are both terrific, absolutely terrific. I had extensions before going to Spyros and they never looked right. After having them done by Spyros, they look very natural, just like they should. Anna does a great job with my color. It comes out perfect every time. I have nothing but good things to say about Joseph Michael's and especially Michelle. I have been going JM's for a few months now after following Michelle there from her previous salon. I bounced around to different salons after my stylist of 5 years left Chicago and I luckily found Michelle a few blocks from my house and have been with her since. I have a short haircut that leaves little room for error and I constanly get compliments every week on my cut, even when I let it go too long between cuts. Every time I see her, she has me doubled over laughing about something or another. At the end of my last cut I changed my mind on my bangs and she took the time to shape them exactly how I asked. I went to Michelle the other day for a trim, unlike my first visit to her where I got caught in a whirlwind of indecision, this time I was completely sure of what I wanted...a trim with a tiiiiny bit more of an angle (and I said tiny). I received a haircut that reminded of Posh Spice's current 'do. When I told her I wanted to flat iron it so I could see the angle she took the flat iron, plugged it in another room and had me go do it myself. I was horrified to see how extreme it looked and when I walked back to her chair she was already working on another client. She told me to sleep on it b/c she knows how indecisive I am. When I told her I didn't like it today and I wouldn't like it tomorrow, she sighed and had me stay standing and proceeding to cut length off the offending long pieces in the front. She didn't even put a cape on me so I had little hair slivers down my shirt the rest of the day. She was extremely rude and condesending. I do not recommend her and will never return. more

Ok. So there are those few people who are just "Unhappy" in life. So the two or three reviews on here that are negative, they are NOT true. THIS IS THE BEST SALON EVER! Everyone is SUPER friendly, and honestly great at what they do. I go to Anyone for a cut or manicure. Who ever is open, I am in. I trust EVERYONE. Pros: You can see anyone, everyone is great! I have been going to this salon for over two years. Each week, my special treat is a my manicure with Maggie. I have never been unhappy with the manicure - her pedicures are also great. She is fun to talk to and the atmosphere is relaxing. I have tried many other salons but Joseph Michael's has been my mainstay. more

I was a salon goer at Joseph Michael for many years. I recently had a negative experience and I will never go back again. In the service industry people need to remember that the loyal customer is key and if there is a dispute or problem that perhaps they should do all they can to help the customer. The salon manager failed to do that and after ten years I will never walk through the doors again. Pros: maggie is the best mani/pedi person Cons: colorists who over process hair color more

Do not listen to the positive reviews! They are written by people who are unfamiliar with what quality is supposed to be. They are merely trend followers who chirp along with the status quo as to what's the "in" place to be, and have no real opinions of their own. Joseph Michael has managed to collect a whole cadre of incompetent workers who would manage to mess up a simple pedicure. I made the mistake of patronizing their establishment one afternoon, and got a botched manicure to thank for it. This was after Charmaine, a completely rude and malfeasant cosmetologist, caused copious amounts of bleeeding from me after what was supposed to be a routine touch up on areas of my back. I should have learned my lesson then, and ran away to a salon that actually knew how to please and treat customers. But after my nails were chipped up, that was the final straw. They refused to refund my money despite the horrendous butchery of my person. So do yourself a favor: seek out an establishment that will treat you like a human being, staffed by people who know how to please customers. Avoid this horrible cesspool at all costs! I followed Nicole, the skin care specialist to Joseph Michael's from another salon because she is so good at what she does. Waxing isn't always a pleasant experience but Nicole is amazing. She is so friendly and always makes me feel so comfortable. I love the spa atmosphere and feeling like getting waxed is as much a beauty treatment as anything else. The water sculpture in the waiting area was beautiful and the ambiance in the treatment room was incredibly relaxing. She told me the wax they use is organic, which I love. Go see her, she's the best! more

Ever though I've gotten manicures all over the U.S. and Europe I've never found anyone who ALWAYS does a job as well as Maggie. Plus, she's fun to talk to!! more

I have been going to Maggie for manicures and pedicures for about 5 years, and my nails look great. My friends are always amazed at how long the manicures last! Maggie is the best! The salon is easy to get to and everyone is very friendly (unlike many other high-end salons in the neighborhood). more

I had ANOTHER great visit with Anna today! One of her assistant's, I think her name was Mada, washed my hair. It was the BEST scalp/head massage that I have ever had and I was so relaxed when I left there! Joseph Michaels is a great place for hair and I have never left unhappy!! more

I've been to many salons, but am convinced that Maggie gives the best manicures and pedicures in town! She is a true professional and a perfectionist in all she does. My pedicures last for weeks. She's also very knowledgeable about nail health and has made several suggestions that are helping my nails. And, to top it off, she's fun to talk to--and has a great laugh--so the time passes quickly. I've been going to Renata for facials for several years and my 62-year old skin has never looked better. Recently started doing microdermabrasion with her as well. She has a marvelous touch (and throws in a neck and shoulder massage that makes me purr). James knows what he's doing: color, cut and style. He can work miracles with challenging hair. I drive 3 hours for my appointments with him and am greeted like an old friend. I always leave feeling much better about myself (and at least 10 years younger!). Read the JM website description of James. It's true! I've been going to Joseph Michael Salon for over 12 years: I have not once gone anywhere else. Patrick Russo is why. He is the best stylist in the city. Every single haircut solicits complements from strangers -- asking who cuts your hair? It's perfect. Try Joseph-Michael and ask for Patrick. You cannot go wrong! more

to be fair I wont mention any names here, I love to get pampered when I go to a salon and trust me this is not the place to get that relaxed feeling. The music during my facial was just ok and the person was just horrible very rough on all parts of the treatment, not recommended I feel sorry for my self that I even went there to make it worse my face was red 8 for hours not sure what use but they need to change it. In the end this person was trying to sell me all these other treatments, they pressure you here so much uggghhh..... Pros: nothing really location i guess Cons: uggghhh... overrated more
