Great prices 10/4/2011

We needed some major electrical problems fixed in our 60 year old home. I got a $79 ceiling fan coupon in the mail so I called. Justin gave us several options, some of which included upgrading our entire home's electrical system, others that included an a-la-carte of just getting our home to be safe and usable. We got 4 other estimates and every other electrician seemed either disinterested in making our home safe or was not willing to educate us or really listen to our needs. On top of that, the other companies offered "band-aid" repairs that were much higher than Wire Nut's prices. Very happy in the service and prices. more

Even though I had an opportunity to talk with you Josh, I want to register written comments about Wirenut’s pricing format. I called to have someone look at a switch and put up two light fixtures, one of which wasn’t working. Even Reuben thought that the fixes would be simple, which they turned out to be. But quite a bit of time was spent in negotiating a price based on your complicated diagnostic levels. We started out in the $700 plus range. Ridiculous. Don’t you agree … to put up two light fixtures and replace a switch and two GFI’s? He, of course, was selling the idea that there might be a bigger problem with the switch and the fixture that didn’t work. He finally gave me a price to do the work without the ‘diagnostic’ piece, but even then the quote was more than $460. Still ridiculous, I think, to do the work indicated. He gave, of course, the warning that something more complicated could be wrong and the whole thing could be more expensive. We finally settled on $473, a price that included one of the diagnostic levels but that would ‘stick’ him if something more was wrong. I am the one who got stuck. It seems like $250 - $275 would have been a fair price to do the work. Replace two fixtures, replace a switch and two outlets. $100 an hour for labor and the rest for supplies. The only reason I continued with the service was because I had already re-arranged my work schedule and didn’t want to lose time again to have another electrician come In, although I have to admit I feel like I should have because I paid more that $200 more than what seems like a reasonable price for the work done. Part of me wants to report this event to someone because the complicated ‘diagnostic levels’ of your system is confusing and misleading at best. It certainly isn’t customer friendly. I do know that it is highly unlikely that I will use Wirenut ever again and I certainly will not recommend the company to any family or friends. more

Ripoff! 9/19/2011

$654 to replace two ceiling fans. Old fans were already removed, new fans ready to go and wiring and boxes in place. Took 45 minutes to write estimate and try to up sale additional services. Avoid this company they play on single women and will rip you off! more

Good: Electrician was nice and appeared thorough.. Bad: Prices were outrageous. Labor came to $300 an hour for a maximum of two hours worth of work ($654 estimate including $59 service charge). Two ceiling fans needed to be installed and a $15 dollar breaker replaced. The owner had the ceiling fans ready to go and the wiring and boxes were ready for connection.. Improvements: The electrician was obviously pushed by the company to up sale additional products and services. The review of other "potential problems" in the home took more than 45 minutes and then the estimate was given. That time could have been spent installing the two ceiling fans.. Other: The company obviously wont give an estimate range over the phone because they know their prices are too high. They wait until they come out to tell you the price because by that time you have already paid the service call price so you are unlikely to throw that money away even if the estimate is outrageous. Cannot recommend The Wirenut to anyone.. more

Good: nothing. Bad: You stood me up! I made an appointment a week out and you didn't send anyone out. When I called and asked to speak to a manager, I was told he would call me back... He never did!. Improvements: If you make an appointment, honor it!. Other: I do not plan to use your services again and I will never refer your business to someone.. more

Very pleased with The WireNut and the service they provided. I called at 4:30 pm and had a next morning service call, non emergency type. Two guys arrived, inspected what was needed, gave an estimate, and completed the work. Prices seemed fair and certainly reasonable; yet it's not often that I have electrical work done. They had a cost sheet, so you may be able to get a general estimate before they arrive if doing simple tasks. Would certainly recommend to anyone or happily use again. more

Over Represented 8/22/2011

Good: I liked the serviceman,Chico. He was great, thorough and honest.. Bad: When I first made the appointment last week (so the not there today or you don't pay doesn't hold true either), I described the problem with the automatic deck lights and the control box. Told the rep that I didn't want to pay a huge amount if the box is the problem and it cannot be fixed. Rep assurred me that they could fix anything. However, the service repairman contradicted what she stated and the charge to just check it out was more than what the unit costs. Left work early, drove 18 miles;. Improvements: Need to have someone that can give real technical answers to questions. Left my work early, took time to be here only to find out that this was a wasted trip and to add insult to injury, I was charged for the service man's trip. Had I had this information up front, I would have never made the appointment.in the first place. The reps either have to be more knowledgable or put one in touch with a tecnician that can assess the situation and prevent this type of money wasting on the customer's part.. Other: I just spent $59 for nothing, not real please about this. Then again, the last four contractors that I've dealt with in the Springs were not customer oriented either, so this was just the icing on the cake.. more

Pablo:was our sevice tech I felt extremely comfortable with leaving a key with him while working,he was very professional and willing to start the job the same day.even though i had to work a night shift,what he did before he left really was great,he took the time to walk our dogs kylie and penny.Thank you for all the help Pablo with our wiring you went above and beyond ! any furture jobs we know who to call. more

It was an adequate visit to fix an overhead fan/light combo. In retrospect, the work performed, even though quite professional and efficient, certainly wasn't worth the money. They charge a service call charge, just for coming out to see if there is work needed. I don't think I would recommend them or have them come back out unless for major electrical work. I was quoted 59.00, but that is just for them to come and look and do an analysis. If I wasn't injured in a car accident, wouldn't have wasted the money on it. more

We found Wirenut in the Yellow Pages and what a find. They do everything they say and are on time and professional. They give an up front estimate that is true and then proceed with the work. The work, the care and expertise are the Best in Town. We will use the Wirenut for all our electrical needs and highly recommend you do the same. more

I would definitely call on them again for service. Good: They were prompt at getting an estimate.. Bad: Get every thing in writing up front, they charge excessively for any add on's. They also wanted to be paid up front, never do this pay them in installments or you will have no leverage for them to complete your job in a timely fashion!. Improvements: They need more communicationwith the contractor / owner. You have to call them to make sure they are getting thier inspections called in, or they will drag it out for weeks, especially when they all ready got all thier money up front.. Other: I would not recomened this company to anyone especially if your a contractor. In the end the electrical work was satisfactory.. more

Unacceptable Service 8/9/2011

I made an appointment for last Friday between 8-10. I received a call from your very pleasant receptionist at 0930-0945 stating that Jose had some kind of emergency that morning that they were not aware of, can I reschedule? Being a generally congenial person, I said yes. The appointment was rescheduled for this morning, 8-10. Call from receptionist at 0934 - Jose may be a little late, doing "paperwork at another emergency". Fine, I say although getting frustrated and suspicious. At 1000, call from Jose stating it may be "another 30-45 minutes, is that going to work for you?" No, it is not. I took two mornings off from my work for a simple job and apparently that is not important for your company to respect. Whatever the reason or excuse, that is not my problem. As the consumer, I was told that your personnel would be here at a certain time - twice - and they failed both times and notified me late in the morning of their impending tardiness or absence. I was also not told of the "There today or you don't pay" policy which although I probably would not have attempted to claim, but would have liked to know or at least been offered a discount for my doubled inconvenience. Suffice it to say, I will be looking for another electrician and letting my friends know that this company is unreliable. Your "electrician magicians" do a great disappearing act. more

GREAT Service 8/8/2011

Chuck and Donald came out today to add 2 canister lights and fix a switch. Thought they did a GREAT job! I would recommend them to anyone. They were friendly but professional and I was impressed with the quality of their work and they even cleaned up! Kudos guys! more

From the time I contacted the office to make an appointment for needed work at my house, and right through to the work being completed, I was greeted by friendly people, was given explanations about service and pricing, and received excellent care by the electrician who did the work. I found them on a television commercial with a catchy ad and have now found an Electrician who I can trust. Chico is OUTSTANDING!!! more

Good: pleasant representatives, Patricia and Coral competent and friendly technicians, Austin and Thomas, neat and clean job, satisfied with the end results, three year warranty on the work is great. Bad: The cost for the fan installation was higher than I expected.. Improvements: In the future, I will describe the work to be done over the phone and hope that I could get a ballpark estimate for comparison purposes before you come all the way out to my home.. Other: Generally satisfied and would recommend the work and workers. more
