We had a great meal. Our car was broken into and we found out afterwards that Valet parking means public parking. Jeff the manager had no idea about their insurance. Insurance ...

Great food and nice atmosphere 4/27/2008

So my husband and I went here for our anniversary and they seated us in a cozy two person booth. It started out quiet, but then a group of seven people came in and sat next us and although they were a little loud, our experience was still good. We tried 5 tapas plates and most of them were very good. My favorite was dish was the veal meatball and I loved the sangria (although it could've used a little more fruit). The ambience is very nice; it can be romantic if you sit in one of their cozy booths, but if you want more noise and liveliness, then I suggested sitting in the room with the bar. All in all a great place to go if you want to have a romantic night or if you want to go as a group. Pros: Food, amience, services Cons: Big parties can ruin romantic dates, parking more

Alhambra Room - Great ambience for small group party! 3/8/2008

We just got back from Solera's and I promised Steve the manager I would write a great review on our first time there! \r \r After much researching online and reading reviews, I decided to make reservations at Solera's for my birthday dinner last night for my group of 10. I reserved the Alhambra Room and it just happened to be available, despite my procrastination in making reservations. When we arrived the hostesses were very welcoming and immediately took us to our room which weaved almost around the whole 1st floor of the restaurant. \r \r The room itself was very private in the back and decorated with colorful walls, lighting fixtures, etc. I was a bit confused though when I saw the room with chairs set up, as I had presumed the seating arrangements were going to be oversized cushions as the website described. I hesitated on requesting it be changed due to the complications, but felt compelled to ask. Our waitress Jessie was hesitant in making it happened, but the manager Steve came by and said it wouldn't be a problem and that it would take 10 minutes or so (which btw, he came by and offered to take our picture with 5 different cameras before announcing that). I was very grateful they were able to do so being that I wasn't aware the chairs were standard and cushions available upon request when making the reservation. Within 10 minutes we were back at our room sitting on cushions and ordering drinks/food. Jessie was very helpful and patient as we ordered the dishes, and within a short period of time came back with everything. \r \r The bill came up to $332--with $160 of it being the tapas, about $100 for drinks and 20% gratuity--which is not that bad for a group of 10! Our favorite was the fried calamari, short ribs, asparagus! Although the tapas were a bit small, but everything else made up for it! An overall great first time experience due to the management/staff/service, and the whole ambience of Solera! \r \r We will definitely tell our friends and be back! Pros: Alhambra room, Group dining, Ambience, Service/Mgmt, Cons: Too small of portion per plate... more

I love Solera 1/30/2008

My first experience at Solera was a rooftop movie on a Sunday summer night. I consider it one of the best nights I've had in DT Minneapolis. Great service, fun idea. \r \r I've also had dinner at the restaurant twice. Like another reviewer said ""Get the duck!"". Great food, great service, and possibly the best wine I've ever had. Pros: Amazing dessert, great Spanish wine, quality food and service Cons: Parking can be difficult on some nights more

My wife and I absolutely love Solera! We have been there numerous times and have never been disappointed... Infact we got married on the rooftop 2 1/2 years ago.. We tell everyone we know to go there! If you like wine, may we suggest the Sangria ! Delicious... buy it by the pitcher! The menus have changed a few times, but always something new and wonderful to try... This is and has been our favorite place to get THE BEST meal, hands down. Pros: Food, Setting, Style, Service !!! Cons: Cant think of anything bad.. ? more

Rooftop Fun! 6/6/2007

Solera was so much fun a few Saturdays ago.....the rooftop, not sure if it has a name or not but our group had a wonderful time. They have a DJ who is OK but give them credit for a great time much more relaxed then that Chambers Hotel, sorry no super models here. The service was great keep up the good work. more

We will be back again - and I hope it's soon!! 5/20/2007

Wonderful service, wonderful atmosphere, friendly people, great food, reasonable prices in my book. Amazing menu offered choices for everyone in our party, from age 7 on up. It was great to try a bunch of different quite exotic dishes and I can definately see returning again to try some others. We were all full with food leftover with a total cost of $20/person including some shared desserts and some wine - in my book, about the same we could have spent getting chain food elsewhere. Excellent customer service starting with when we called for directions; couldn't ask for better. Thanks for making my British cousins' last dinner in the States a memorable one!! Pros: Service, location next to the Orpheum, menu diversity more

Innovative and delicious tapas 4/12/2007

We have been frequenting Solera for about a year. We are thoroughly addicted to the Sobrasada and anything with honey and cheese. We have always had good service there, but it is not the type of restaurant nor the type of food where you will be hovered over. Water is typically always full, the food comes quickly, yummy and hot, and the Berry Cuban (sort of like a Mojito) is amazing! The pace will be slower and the space quieter on a weeknight rather than on a Friday or Saturday night - and the food is just as good. Pros: Berry Cuban and Sobrasada more

Awesome Atmosphere complimented with great food! 10/24/2006

I was so excited to learn about Solera. While vacationing in Spain I found this great little restaurant/bar called Solero, so I absolutely had to check out this place here in the States! I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is beautiful and the menu is delicious. Service is excellent as well. The crowd in there has always been fun and friendly. Great for an intimate meal or a group! Exceptional food, great atmosphere, get the two hearted ale 10/21/2006

I was excited to try Solera after reading reviews on this sight. I was afraid of "snooty". I hate snooty! Got there at 5 on Friday night. Our res. was for 5:30 but we got to town early. Three smiling lovelies greeted us as we came in and offered to show us right to our table. Our server was helpful and friendly. The food was really fine. Couldn't find anything to complain about. Scallops were sauteed perfectly golden and very tender throughout, the duck . . . oh the duck! Get the frickin' duck! The olive tapas seemed like a very small bowl when it arrived but there were more olives there than you thought and I wouldn't have wanted anymore. Someone did their homework. As far as getting full or not, we would have been fine with the four initial tapas we ordered. And we had skipped lunch. We thought we were rushed because we were on our way to a concert so we ordered all four tapas at once. We didn't know how quick they'd come etc. The tapas came real quick and we realized we should have orderd no more than two at a time so they can be eaten whild still warm and fresh. They have a great wine list and lots of sherries but folks, luckily, I stumbled into the Two hearted ale from Bells Brewery. I took a little taste and kept sipping and kept sipping again. Its the most complex beer flavor I've ever experienced. The waitress didn't know anything about it and was going to go get info from the bartender and I just said "just bring me one". Josh, if you read this, please tell the wait staff to write on their foreheads that THIS IS GREAT BEER! If you think you've had a better beer than this, you're drunk. Thanks Solera, we'll be back. We ended up with 5 tapas, 2 glasses of wine, 2 glasses of beer, and 2 glasses of sherry - $83 before my big fat tip. It was a fair price for the experience. The Zappa concert was an incredible climax to the night. more

Wonderful change of pace!! 10/2/2006

I love Solera. I've probably been there 10 times and had a great experience every time. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that it offers something DIFFERENT. Although I have so many tappas favorites on the menu, I always try something new every time I visit. Don't miss the fabulous drinks and dessert. I enjoy the innovative tappas creations and am always surprised to find myself full after every meal. I also love the sharing aspect and getting to taste so many things in one meal. If you go, I recommend each person ordering one cold plate and one hot plate and sharing with the group. I also find that groups of women tend to enjoy this style of dining more than men. Men are more conditioned to expect the huge portions of normal restaurants and less inclined to want to share. If you want to experience something different and unique, try Solera. Pros: Service, Food, Drinks Cons: Crowded and loud more
