Love this place! 10/6/2009

I don't think I could ever find anything on this menu that I don't like...in fact I have eaten everything on this menu and I know that I love it all! From pasta to seafood to chicken to soup....all of it is so delicious! Top fave's are: Bart's Chicken, Wife's Favorite, Halibut Pomodoro, Tomato soup and Butternut Squash soup. Pros: Best Halibut Ever! Cons: Nada more

The Perfect Hideaway 12/3/2008

Great food, romantic atmosphere and employees that know what they are doing. What more can I say, this place is definitely worth your time. I?m even looking into a private party at Sages for our yearly family gathering. more

Superlicious food! 5/10/2007

I'm still thinking of our dinner last night. The jumbo shrimp appetizer is delicious and fairly priced for the quantity. I scraped off every bit of the sauce with the toasted bread (nice touch). I ordered their 'Halibut Pomodora' special and it was delicious. The fish was fresh and the sauce was flavorful. They even spiced it up mildly to suit my taste (good service). My wife's 'Wife's favorite Pasta' was delicious as well, simple but felt homemade and flavorful. Their wine collection is so-so, but the wine that we had was good. The ambience and decor is not the most romantic, but the food and service makes up for it. We are definitely hooked to go their again. Pros: Great food and service Cons: Decor could be prettier more

Best Italian Food on the Eastside 6/15/2006

I think this place has outstanding italian food. I have tried several items on the menu and I have not been disappointed. I was raised on good italian food so I am very particular about pasta dishes in italian restaurants. Sages is one of the few restaurants that has that ""homemade"" taste that I look for when eating italian food. The atmosphere is nice but I definitely go for the food, and not the ambiance. Try the chicken ravioli. YOU WILL BE HOOKED! Pros: Food, Service Cons: Parking more

We're Regulars and we love it! 6/11/2006

We frequent Sages often and its one of our favorite places. I read the previous review and don't understand why they were saying they love Olive Garden. This place is authentic food. Very good consistantly and if you like Olive Garden which is the Dennys of Italian Food then I can understand why you wouldn't appreciate the homemade cooking. We love the quaint atmosphere and the Chef is lovely. He is very friendly with his customers. His soups are homemade which he rotates. I and my husband have had the Tomato Basil, Split Pea and the NW Clam Chowder and we loved them all. Infact we order extra to take to go. If your looking for a chain Italian restaurant, this is NOT that. If you want good food and good service, you will enjoy Sages. We always have and we are going there for my Birthday in just a few days. :) Enjoy! We do and have recommended Sages to all of our friends. Pros: Always good food! Never had anything we didn't lik Cons: Parking is tough for lunch. Dinner parking is fine more

Nothing but great food and service 6/7/2006

My wife loves Italian food. We were driven by the higher score it has here and our reluctance to go to Olive Garden (OG) in Kirkland. We were disappointed once we entered the place. It is not romantic or whatsoever. Pretty small place with barely something identifying that it is Italian restaurant. No views. There are windows but you can hardly call whatever they are facing nice views. Anyway the menu was not too long. Again we like OG so we were expecting not less from this one because OG has lower score. However it is not the case. Soup seleciton is very limited. Like limited to 1. And we like soups. So my wife had to stick to Caesar Salad instead. My soup and her salad were very very good. The main courses and wine were also very good. So we satisfied our hunger easily for 65$. The bottom line is that if you want to have good pasta and dont care much about the rest, it is a good place. I doubt we will go there again in near future. Pros: Redmond center Cons: Not romatic, no character more

WHAT A MEAL!!! 2/26/2006

This place is such a delight..... My husband and I had the most memorable evening at this little hide away. The food was fresh, hot, delicious and presented very nicely. Our waiter was adorable both in his humor and service. Sages was recommended to us and I can see why. We intend on bringing friends next time. I hope next time is soon! :) Pros: Good Food, Good Service, Nice Atmosphere Cons: Can't think of any more

Excellent choice for lunch or dinner 1/6/2006

My family went to Sages recently to celebrate my sister's birthday and we had an excellent time. The shrimp appetizer is loaded with garlic and other herbs and is amazing. A couple of us had the Saltimbaco special and it was so scrumptious that neither of us left a morsel of it on our plates. I would highly recommend the cheesecake for dessert. It was the perfect balance of depth and lightness! more

Excellent 10/12/2005

My wife and I were looking for somewhere new to eat - wanted something a little more classy - somewhere that would give us the excuse to dress up and enjoy a romantic meal. Sages was PERFECT for this. Food was excellent, atmosphere was quiet (they ask guests to turn off cellphones!) - just soft music and discrete conversations. No reservation but place was only half full so no problem (at around 6pm on Sat night). Service was exemplary - attentitive but not pushy. The Veal Medalions I had were superb. Cost was around $100 for two of us (including $25 bottle of wine). We'll be back! Pros: Quiet, Romantic, Exceptional more

Italian made the right way! 5/21/2005

After several visits, this is still the best Italian in the area!! The food is always fresh!!!! The presentation is always so nice I just look at it for a moment before digging in. You must try the shrimp tower for an appetizer, my favorite. The portions are very generous with enough for left overs. We always have nice service without being overbearing. If I can say anything negative, it is a little hard to find parking on a weekend night. We went on a Friday night and it was packed. I recommend trying it during the week so you can enjoy the evening without the crowd. We usually go on Wednesday or Sunday and its more enjoyable, not so crowded. The food is always consistantly good and it's still one of my favorites. Pros: Food Cons: No Reservations more

REAL FOOD!!! 4/28/2005

Came to our table HOT, FRESH, and DELICIOUS! This is a new favorite. Pros: Great food Cons: Nothing more

Lick The Plate Good! 1/6/2005

My husband and I had dinner here last night and I am still thinking about my dinner.... Lets just say that I needed more bread so I could wipe up every morsal of food and sauce. If you haven't been here, GO!!! :) Pros: Good Food, Good Service more

Great Food Good Value 11/15/2004

One of a few restaurant that offer real food, hot food, not fake corporate food, not pretense, nice atmosphere, at reasonable prices. Pros: yummy, reasonable prices, not fake food more

One Word!!! 10/11/2004

WONDERFUL!!!! This little place gets my vote for best food in this area! It was a great evening with scrumtous food and lovely service. The chef even came to our table to say Hi, which I thought was a very nice touch! Will I be back? You bet! Pros: Presentation, Food, Cleanliness more

Scrumptious 9/20/2004

We had a nice and enjoyable dinner at Sage. We had three appetizer dishes: shrimp tower, clam in white wine, and Bruschetta. The shrimp and clam were fresh and had lots of garlic! We also ordered the Wifes Favorite, Spicy Pork chop, Halibut (special of the night), and Veal. All of them were great. The dessert sampler consisted of tiramisu, lemon cheesecake, and chocolate truffle cake. Dont forget to save room for the dessert sampler. more

What an evening! 6/15/2004

I went with some girlfriends and we had so much fun! Our waiter was a hoot and the food was delicious. I had heard about this place but had never been. I enjoyed everything on our table. We ordered several appetizers and all 4 of us ordered a different entree. We all picked on everyones elses plate...Everything was good! The shrimp tower is a must. We found it to be about $35.00 per person for an appetizer, main entree and a glass of wine. The wine list was really well thought out. I think I found my new favorite restaurant. :) Pros: Nice Atmosphere more

Highly Recommend 6/14/2004

I agree w the other posters - this is an excellent restaurant! I didn't feel like fighting the traffic of Seattle. From the phone to the table, I was treated like a respected member of family. Bart & Jerri, the owners, really know what they're doing. The atmosphere is ideal for romance, just friends, professional meeting. White tableclothes, candles, and wine glasses. The waitstaff will repeatedly & quickly fill your water glass. They are also very knowledgeable of wines and the dishes. I wasn't impressed by the veal medallions (Seattle & beef) but the shrimp tower can not be passed. I spent $40 for an appetizer & entree with water but the portions are large enough to split between 2. Several stopped for carry out. With your check is a mint-chocolate ovation. If I had known, I would have ordered the chocolate fondue with fresh fruit - call ahead. Pros: Atmosphere, Service Cons: , Beef entrees more

A delicious gourmet meal in Redmond 1/17/2004

I had dinner at Sages with 5 other friends - two of them arrived just before the other meals were about to arrive, but were treated respectfully and ordered quick meals that wouldn't be too hard for the kitchen to deal with. Our waiter was knowledgable and courteous, our water glasses were always filled even if we'd taken only a few sips, and - most importantly - the food was delicious! We all shared some really delicious Sebastiani Cabernet from the excellent wine list. We had bruschetta and the caprese as appetizers, both of which were drizzled with premium syrupy balsamic vinegar and included delicious fresh tomatoes and herbs. We had gnocchi in pink sauce, mediterranean pasta, veal medallions, and some homemade minestrone soup. I highly recommend Sages for their accomodating atmosphere, excellent food, and friendly, professional service. Pros: highest quality food, superior service, wine list is great Cons: street parking, somewhat pricey more
