Awesome shop, had a great experience. Matt Mebane did my work, I took in what I wanted done and he designed a tat that exceeded my expectations. Price wise, VERY competitive and the work I got done gets an A damn +. Check this place out. more

For my latest tattoo I went cyber surfing in hopes of finding something similar or close to what I was looking for. I found a couple of pictures that didn't quite look like what I wanted but hoped was good enough for someone to get the idea. When I went to Phoenix Tattoo I was introduced to Mike Blas. He took a look at what I had brought in, told me to give him a minute, called me back and free handed exactly what I was picturing in my head! Amazing! Not only was Mike professional but friendly as well. As a matter of fact the whole staff was. I was so happy I decided to book my first big tattoo with Lacie, after looking at other shops in the Raleigh area. It was really important to me that I support a female tattoo artist. She was so personable, and seemed to genuinely love being a tattoo artist. She helped me tweak my design, and was really knowledgeable about what bits would age well and which wouldn't. This is super important, and I'm so glad she was so interested in making my tattoo the very best it could. Even simply looking at her book, you can tell she's an amazing artist. She generally has a bit of a waitlist, but it's so worth the wait. Tattoos are forever, and I'm so glad I decided on Phoenix to trust with mine! more

Matt was recommended to me by someone else. I had spoke to other artists here and in NY. No one could quite get what I was looking for. So, I was a little apprehensive about speaking to another artist. Matt was really friendly, looked at my pictures, and listened to me. He had a great positive attitude, took my pictures and played around with them. He came back and I wanted a couple of things tweaked and he did it without hesitation!!! I couldn't be happier with my tattoo. I LOVE it. It couldn't have come out better! I will never go anywhere else. Lacie is an amazing artist and person. Try to book with her if you can. She will keep in communication with you until your scheduled appointment and the finished product will blow your mind. I have only been tattooed by Lacie at Phoenix but I'm positive all the other artists are great as well, I can only speak for Lacie after the two fresh tattoos she's done for me and the two she has fixed. The shop is clean, good music, friendly vibes, easy location, affordable for the quality work you are receiving. This is the best shop in Raleigh. more

I had my tattoo done by Steve at the beginning of August this year. It was right after my 18th birthday, and it being my first tattoo, I was moderately nervous. I came in with a basic idea, and Steve had come up with an awesome idea for bordering at my next appointment. The pain was minimal and the finished product is exactly what I wanted. This tattoo is not my last, and Phoenix is the only place i'll be going for my tattoo needs in the future. more

The atmosphere is very comfortable, and everyone who works there is really nice and very attentive. You will not be ignored when you walk in but greeted with a smile and a ""Hey. How can I help you?"" I got my first tattoo with Matt M. today, and he turned my rough idea into a wonderful tattoo. He was very helpful and did not mind answering all of my questions. I've been looking for a new studio/artist to start on a few pieces I have planned, and I've definitely found it. I searched online for quite some time and decided I'd set my appointment with Lacie after looking through her portfolio. For a lot of long-winded reasons, I was unable to set up my appointment when I really wanted, but when I finally walked in and set it up I was told it'd be a weeks before I could be seen. I turned over the drawing that I could manage and when I returned for my appointment she had it re-drawn and ready to go. It was a really comfortable atmosphere and she got the job done, including the darker parts, without being too heavy handed. It looks worlds better than I could have hoped. We got done early and they adjusted the quoted price accordingly. I'll definitely be making return trips to get the rest of my work done. more

I was recommended to this shop by my friends. And having been tatted before (mostly custom) I know shops are busy and artists have other very extensive custom work that takes alot of time and effort (my custom work took ~3-4 wks to even finish drawing) so I gave them a call prior to showing up to be sure someone would be available for a tat i had in mind. Lucky for me the receptionist was very friendly and indicated an artist was available and I was able to come in the same day to get tatted. My artist was attentive to my design and made me feel very comfortable. more

I have been getting tattoos for over twenty-five years now . I have been fortunate enough to get work done by some amazing artists in different shops all over the world. Fortunately, most of them do not watch LA or Miami Ink and believe their own hype while turning into ""Rock Star"" artists.... I was amazed at the attitude from the studio manager over the phone..I almost thought I was in LA.....not Raleigh, NC. After explaining my situation and what I wanted done to start finishing a sleeve and that I was new to the area and liked Lacie's work after searching online, I was told about consultation fees, appointments for consultations and then it would be about six weeks before she could see me.....wow. Now I appreciate artists being good and that they are busy ( I have had some major work done by Brandon Hannah in Nashville), but it all just came off so wrong and snotty. They never even recommended another artist who might not be as busy......well I guess times have changed and the attitude is more important than the work or bringing in new business. I have been in the music business for thirty years and this was almost like dealing with a self important musician. But I get paid to deal with them, not pay to have to deal with that attitude.... more

The majority of tattoo shops I've been to, I generally have to guess at who the artist is because no one speaks to me when I walk in. And on top of that to say they aren't the most approachable personalities is an understatement, so Phoenix Tattoo was a nice difference from the rest. My artist also had the misfortune to have to draw my design, which was very small, detailed print. It looked amazing at the end, so I appreciated it. Good price as well, friendly, very clean and sanitary, and great work. more

This was my first tattoo, and I really did not know what to except. I went to the Phoenix establishment on a Wednesday and took the appointment for the coming Friday. I had designed the tattoo myself, and the lady at the counter asked me to give her a true-size picture of the tattoo. I had brought a couple of true-size print outs with me, so that was not a problem. I was told to pay a deposit of $50, and was told that the tat would cost $100. The following Friday I went to the studio a couple of minutes before my appointment. Matt came over and showed me the stencil and checkes if everything looked okay. Then we started off and it took around 50 minutes. It was pretty much painless- and the entire while Matt kept on chatting up- which helped. He has a very steady hand- an artisit who knows his art. The best part was- they even give an after care kit, consisting of an A&D ointment and a moisturiser, along with clear written directions. Its two weeks since I got the tat now, and the lion on my arm looks gorgeuos. Would definitely go here again if I decide to get another tattoo. more
