I went to Phoenix the first time with a friend to get her tattoo. Driving by, at first glance it looks okay.. but once you get inside it's amazing! It looks like a cross between a studio/museum and a tattoo parlor. You can SEE the cleanliness.. which I like. The only drawback is the sections are open. I was fine with it since my tattoo was just on my wrist, but it could be really uncomfortable for someone getting a tattoo somewhere else.. My friend's artist was Colby, and he was so kind and considerate to her and did an outstanding job on her tattoo. I talked with the receptionist about getting a tattoo for myself and she was very helpful. I decided from my friend's experience to use Colby as well. He listened to what I wanted with my tattoo and the outcome was wonderful! My body actually went into shock at the start (only a few minutes, I'm fine, haha), and he was great to make sure I was completely okay before starting again. Overall the experience was great. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. I drove from Greenville twice to this place, if that gives you an idea how great it is. Cons: No closed rooms more

i wondered into phoenix after suffering a brutal blow to the ego from blue flame on peace street. i experienced an insane of reverse snobbery; i hardly look the part of a girl in need of a tattoo (if there is such a part these days) the artists there were condescending, unprofessional, and just plain rude. feeling defeated, i thought, i've heard great things about phoenix, let's try here; they could NOT have been more gracious, kind, and professional. lacie's work preceded her, and she did not disappoint. i love my little tattoo. she did not judge me based on appearance, and was geniunely excited to make a life-long dream come true for me. i find that to be EXTREMELY important when a person is making such a big and permanent change to their body. you want an experience, which is exactly what i had there! thanks so much, lacie!!! Pros: talented artists;professional;clean; relaxed atmosphere more

Steven and the rest of the staff are friendly. The palor is extemely clean and comfortable. I was given an estimated time and price before hand so knew what to expect. Steven is experienced and very gentle/light-handed. This is my second tattoo, but first with Phoenix. Overall the experience was great! Will def come back to these guys if i decide to get another! Will be promoting you all as well!! Pros: Clean, friendly relaxed atmosphere more

Everyone there was friendly and not pretentious. I am 40 yrs. old and don't look like someone that'd have and want tattoos. This was my third tattoo and the best experience of all. Thanks Colby!! I went to a few of the local shops to get prices and see how I felt about who would be most likely to give me the tattoo that I had in my mind. Me & my Fiance had tattoos done by Colby & Marco Last night. I traveled outside of my comfort zone away from my usual artist and they delivered some of the best work ive seen. Staff is very professional and courteous. Also very understanding and have a great perception of what you want and can make it coem to life for you. I recommend them & will be returning to have more added to this tattoo. Thnaks guys for all the work and time. Happy New Years! more

I moved to Raleigh Nov. '08, and have been searching for a tattoo artist since then. I had taken a design I wanted to a tattoo shop in the area and told them I wanted it as it was drawn, with no black outline. The man behind the counter proceeded to tell me that it would look better with the outline, and that it would look stupid without it. So I left and got on Citysearch and found Phoenix Tattoo, and scheduled a consult with Stacie. She was very understanding with what I wanted, and told me an alternative to the black outline, and my tattoo turned out fantastic. I will always go back to Stacie, I have at last found an artist in Raleigh! Pros: Beautiful work, easy to find, custom designs Cons: Appoinment with Stacie was a month out-the girl is popular! more

  • Welcome to Phoenix Tattoo Studio! We are located at 1215 Hillsborough Street in Raleigh. We are open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 10pm, and Sunday by appointment only.

    Shop prices are based on the design. We charge a flat rate on ready images or flash (subject to size and location) and a rate of $140 an hour on larger work or pieces that require more than one sitting. We have a $60 shop minimum and require a deposit on all appointments. Walk-ins are welcome and designs that require drawing time may be subject to a $20 fee.
