Barry was friendly and professional at the same time. I've visited alot of other realtors, but Barry was by far the most effective. He was reasonable in showing us the apartments even though we were late to our appointment, and didn't give up when we bailed at the last moment on our commitments. He rolled right along with us, and ended up getting a great deal. He is enthusiastic and flexible, and keeps you up to date and in the know. I felt quite comfortable in talking to him, and knew with confidence he was on our side. more

Barry Herbst was professional, efficient, and just as excited as I was to find myself a new apartment. My roommates and I had all studied abroad first semester and had very limited time to find ourselves the perfect three bedroom within our price range (between our parents, our taste, and our early move-in date, this seemed nearly impossible). We had contacted many brokers in hope of finding the one that will show us our ideal apartment. After meeting with one or two brokers and seeing some truly terrible apartments, we came in contact with Barry. Barry, who is a completely new broker (contrary to the other brokers we had met with), was the first one to suggest we look at Stuyvesent Town. My roommates and I literally had no hope left in finding something normal within our price range and finally we started regaining hope and sanity. We immediately fell in love with the area and the apartment, it was within our budget, and we were able to move in before we started classes. This success is all owed to Barry. He insisted we focus on Stuy Town as these apartments were the best option for us, and was there with us every step of the way. He went with us on several occasions to look at the apartment (since the three of us were unable to plan to see them at the same time), went with us to every signing and handed in all of our documents even if we were unable to go ourselves. He truly made this process much less stressful and within two short weeks we signed a lease on our new apartment. I highly recommend him! more

We worked with Alex Carciu in finding our apt and had a great experience! He was very flexible in making an appointment to meet with us and knowledgeable about the apartments, prices and the process of securing an apartment in Stuyvesant Town. He also was there when we met with the leasing agent to make sure everything went smoothly and even after we moved into our new place, he makes himself available if we need anything or have questions. Jared helped my girlfriend and I in our first search for an apartment in the financial district. We immediately trusted Jared, which is a lot more than you can say about many brokers, and it worked out very well. He was patient, hardworking, personal and very knowledgable about the market. He was honest about keeping the places that he showed us in our price range and was extremely diligent in keeping us up to date with new available apartments that fit our needs. When he did find a place that he thought was for us, Jared brought us to the apartment on three separate occasions. On the third trip, he waited while we measured every single wall and then walked us through the lease (this took place during off-work hours so it was very easy/convenient for both of us to be there). He kept us up to date on the approval process as well. We initially did not want to pay a broker fee, but we believed Jared earned and deserved it. Without Jared, we definitely would not have found our apartment or had such a smooth transition closing the lease. We certainly recommend him and will be reaching out to him when we make our next living decision. more

Jared Paletti helped my wife and I find our first apartment in Manhattan when we moved from Atlanta. While our experience with other brokers had been frustrating and exhausting, working with Jared with great. Jared worked his butt off to find our ""needle in a haystack."" He returned messages promptly (at all hours of the day/night), was always up front about his compensation, and never pulled the classic ""bait and switch."" Unlike the other brokers we came across, Jared truly worked in our best interest rather than constantly trying to selling us something. Should we have the need to move, our first call will definitely be to Jared. more

We worked with Jared D. Paletti in finding our apt and had a great experience! He was super knowledgeable about every apartment building in the Financial District and was not only able to spout of impressive statistics about each one of them, but knew exactly where to go in each building for amenities, leasing office, etc. He was not pushy or aggressive, but clearly very familiar with the neighborhood. He was super flexible and accommodating of our time, and we're stoked to have finally found an apartment for a good deal. My experience with Ivie Clifford was excellent! I was moving from Europe and had an extremely limited time to search for an apartment. I commenced my search while still in Europe and due to the international nature of my move and the extremely tight timeline I had a large number of questions regarding the requirements for being able to rent in New York to which I needed answers in order to be able to prepare. I contacted several different brokers and Ivie was by far the most responsive! Not only did she go out of her way to respond to my complex questions via email but she even went as far as calling me in Europe to explain to me over the phone what my options were and how I needed to prepare. As a result of the very helpful responses I received in the lead-up to my move, I did not hesitate to contact Ivie upon my arrival in New York. She immediately arranged a meeting and the same afternoon she showed me no fewer than eight apartments. She was very attentive to my wishes and priorities and as a result the apartments she showed me corresponded very well to what I was searching for in terms of location, size, amenities and budget. She was as helpful in person as she was over the phone and answered all of my questions clearly and gave me honest responses concerning the realities of the tough New York rental market. In one afternoon I was able to find an apartment on which I was willing to place an application. Prior to the lease signing Ivie was once again very helpful and effectively communicated with the management company on my behalf about the status of my application. She also gave me clear answers and excellent advice regarding how, as someone moving from another country, I could best satisfy the document requirements. Thanks to all of Ivie?s effort my hectic move was made a lot less hectic than it otherwise might have been and I was within only a few days able to move in to my new apartment! For all of the above reasons I strongly recommend Ivie! more

Ivie Clifford Ivie was incredibly helpful and professional. She listened to what I wanted, accommodated my crazy schedule, and showed me many apartments in one day that met my criteria. The best was that she listened carefully as we visited possible apartments and adjusted the rest of the selections to match my clarity and her further understanding of the apartment I was seeking. She made what seemed like a daunting change in my life go smoothly. She was supportive (no pressure!) and even attended the lease signing to make sure that all my questions were answered. I highly recommend Ivie! She knows NYC and makes it her job to know her client. more

Jared was very accomodating, patient and well-informed. He showed me a wide range of apartments within my price range allowing me to point out pros and cons without feeling any pressure. He's honest and has integrity. Even after I had pretty much made up my mind - he indicated that if the timing wasn't right, we could start a new search the following week. NO PRESSURE and doesn't make you feel like you are an ""outsider"" to the rental game. more

Alex Carciu--Honest & Helpful 7/15/2011

Alex was really helpful in helping us find an apartment that fit our requirements and our price range. We wanted a three bedroom apartment, with an elevator, and good security in the 3500 price range in an above average neighborhood. At first, we underestimated NYC's real estate market and thought that there would be tons of options out there. However, we were proven wrong after a frustrating process of trying to find some good apartments. We contacted Alex and he showed us a place that fit all our requirements and the apartment even included utilities + amenities. But since that was the first place that he showed us, we said wanted to see more options--thinking that we could get a better deal. He honestly told us that the other options that were available would not compare to the location he first showed us. Not believing him, we contacted other brokers. Sure enough, all the other places were either the same apartment or even crappier places. Even though it was a waste of time, Alex STILL showed us some other places. We eventually picked the first location he showed us. Alex was really patient, understanding, and efficient. He understood our requests and tried to match what we wanted to what was out there (which was very, very little). There aren't many NYC real estate brokers that are like that--most use the bait-and-switch technique or try to scam their clients to just make a deal and end up with a crappy apartment. Safe to say, my roommates and I are super glad that we had Alex as our broker. If you want honest opinions and a good understanding for what you can get in NYC, Alex is your guy! more

Emily Wilk is simply the best! 6/26/2011

I moved to NYC from Philadelphia and I thought I knew what I was getting into here. Well, I was completely wrong - the housing situation and everything about the rental process is completely different. NYC is overwhelming and the real estate market is insane! I tried to do it on my own since I was nervous to contact a broker because of all the broker horror stories you hear (plus a broker is not something you need in Philadelphia so I thought ?why would I need one in NYC??). As I started my apartment search, I realized immediately that I couldn?t do it on my own and after speaking with Emily Wilk, my concerns were put to rest. Emily was very helpful and responsive. more

Jared paletti- Jared is a very honest, hard-working and responsive broker. He is easy going and gave us so much information about leasing a new York apartment. He stuck to our budget and showed a range of options to help us narrow our focus on what we really wanted since we were new to NYC and unsure of our exact likes and dislikes. I would use him again and would highly reccomend him to anyone needing help in the search for an apartment in manhattan. I had read all the stories about dishonest,pushy brokers and was wary of the whole process. Jared was the total opposite of all that and was a pleasure to work with. Jared found my roommate and I a great apartment in the Financial District in less than 3 hours - just as he had promised over the phone! We signed within 2 days with no problems at all. Jared is willing to go the extra mile to make sure his clients get exactly what they are looking for in a place to live in the city. But most importantly he's honest. He tells you like it is and doesn't sugar-coat anything.
