We received a quote in writing from this guy. He did the work and while they were doing the work, we asked for something extra. He quoted us one number and billed us for another. Then called constantly to complain that we owed him the balance (a whopping $150) and then filed a small claims bill. He's not nice and isn't good for his word. AVOID. We would rather have paid more money and dealt with an honest business. Cons: Doesn't live by his quotes more

Just had mike take out two trees and I can tell you I could not have made a better choice. I called four companys, two didn't show up for the quote and mike beat the one that did without knowing what the other quoted. The crew came on the day they were scheduled, finished ahead of schedule and when they left you would not have known trees were ever there, polite and courteous, thanks. Pros: Great price more

I recently had 8 large pines removed and I was very impressed with Mike and his crew. They where on time and did the work quickly and cleanly. My wife and I where amazed at the equipment and how agilely they could maneuver around the house to remove these very large pines. So, thanks to Mike and the crew for a job very well done! this guy showed up late for a consultation, didn't apologize for being late, and acted like my time wasn't as valuable as his. he walked away without any explanation. completely unprofessional and disrespectful. there are so many other tree companies out there who will have a little more respect and consideration for their customes. more

I called Mike's to come cut down alot of trees at my new house. They were strangled to death by English and Poison-Ivy. Josh came to look over the job site and see what I wanted done. It was a quick conversation, and he even pointed out a few things that I didnt even think about (branch leaning on wires). I didnt need it done fast and told them they could come whenever they wanted. 3 Days later I come home from work, all the trees are gone, all the stumps grinded, and the branches trimmed that needed to be. My neighbor even stopped by to tell me he came over to watch them work with his grandchildren, and that their equipment was top of the line. I commend Mike's on their job well done, and I am very happy with my yard now. Now that its almost winter, I will be looking to them for some firewood. Pros: Work Quickly, Cleaned up everything. Called to have two very large oaks taken down in the front yard (one up against the house.) Gave an estimate that was $500 less than a another company quoted for only one tree, plus he added stump grinding and the trimming of another tree in the side yard. Both trees were down and the yard completely cleaned in less than two hours. Incredibly, there was only minimal damage to the lawn. Crews showed up when they said they would be here and did exactly the job they quoted. Very satisfied customer. Pros: Fast, effective, reasonable price more

I had Mike's Tree come for an estimate and to take down 3 trees and trim others. The pricing was good and the guys showed up and did a great job. They got in and out and then had the stumps ground and you would never know there were trees there before. They were very professional and I would definitely recommend them to anyone. There was this old Catalpa tree in the backyard of our three unit condo in Cranston. It was a large tree with those giant bean pods and drippy brown stuff. I never liked the tree but the other two owners said it was old and should be saved. Without any intervention from me, the tree died. I had heard Mike's ads on the radio and called him. He came, gave me an estimate on Friday, crew came on Monday, tree and all it's mess - GONE! And he was within $50 of the other estimates. Hard to find people who do what they say they're going to do! more

First one eliminated in the process of choosing the person for the job. I did not choose him so I can not comment on the quality of work he does. In my opinion, his customer service and communication skills are poor. Gets angry and frustrated easily with customers. Cons: Needs to get customer service skills. more

Wish I had known this site was here sooner. I had some firewood delivered a couple of years ago. As a single mom in a rental I didn't have access to some things (like chainsaws, splitting tools, etc). I was ASSURED that the wood delivered was ""standard cut"" and would fit any ""standard"" wood stove (which I had). With this said, they were prepaid, came unannounced and dumped the entire load on my lawn. As my kids and I stacked it, I realized that many pieces were of different sizes and dimensions. Approximately ONE THIRD of the wood had to be shortened and split to fit the ""standard"" stove. Thank goodness a nice, young gentleman from our church volunteered to help. Would have been a very cold winter if not for him. When I called Mike's to ask about this I was informed that ""from time to time there are some odd-sized pieces that get mixed in."" One THIRD of the load?????....that's ""from time to time?"" Probably won't be using them again. I went on Google to find tree service in Providence, RI. Mike's service was 4th on the list. I started calling top 4 and was able to talk to 2 companies directly life. One of them was Mike's service.\r After making an oppointment with both companies, I read the reviews and was dissapointed to see some negativity that was written about Mike's service. I became cautious.\r First service gave me the price that was out of this world. When Josh - Mike's forman showed up (on time next day), he outlined the job scope and gave me the price I was very happy with. I then told him about reviews on the web. Josh responded with profesional explanation and mentioned that the job will be done with highest quality, quick, and professional. They showed up in 3 days in the morning, perform the job in 3 to 4 hours (trimming the trees on 2 sides of the house) and came back next day to remove the roots from the overgrown bushes i asked to remove. When I showed up to the site after completion, I was plesently surprized to see everything done per agreement and cleaned up to the last chip. Mike's secretary faxed me the insurance binder before starting the job and send the bill to my maling address after the job was completed. \r I owe the managment company and will use Mike's service for my future projects. I ordered a cord of firewood after they assured me it would be all hardwood but they delivered about half softwood mixed with half hard. I called to question why and was told they know softwood is mixed in but ""just"" tell people it's hardwood because there's no pine. I'm shocked that they see nothing wrong with this! Softwood doesn't have the heat output that hardwood does. They offered no apology or remedy for my dissatisfaction. more

the trees did come down which was acceptable. however, on both projects we hired them for they tried to get extras like not seeing a double type tree, not seeing power lines etc. In addition they will ask you to discharge the chips on your property. stupidly I said ok as they said it was a few chips. it took a backhoe and dump truck to get rid of the pile as big as a car. lastly is paying them. beware, they will be looking for the money before they are done. if you dont pay within 5 minutes after tehy finish Mike is on site screaming, swearing, threatening to lein etc.. They where also upset that our company would not make the check out to Mike persoanlly as they wanted cash. not recommended due to unprofessionalism. more

Mikes was wonderful until I had a problem. They quoted me at one price then charged me two hundred more after some of the work was done! I bought ""screened"" loom which was full of sticks, rocks and (RED) mulch! I had to get the work (which was never finished) redone by another company! They were supposed to remove old rock, mulch and grass from my yard (which I paid them for) and they didn't and just put piles of their junk 'loom"" on top of it! drove the tractor across my front yard and driveway, breaking my driveway and tearing up my front yard! They refused to fix my broken driveway and when I complained the owner Mike began yelling at me. When I said to him, ""you must have such a successful business not to care when your customers have problems"" he told me his business is successful and he does not need to care if there are problems. I am so disappointed and angry! this was supposed to be a quick and easy job and instead I have been treated with so much disrespect! Pros: Easy way to get a migraine! Cons: Rude, poor work quality, reckless use of the equiptment, do not keep to contract, price increases once quoted more

Called them to have a tree removed and 4 other pruned. Mikes tree showed up 15 minutes early to give an estimate, other companies left me waiting around. They weren't the cheapest, but seemed to be the best equipped to get the job done and were the most professional. The other tree service I called was $300 cheaper, but just didn't really impress me at all. Made me feel like I was wasting their time by asking for an estimate. Everyone I talked to ad Mikes Tree Service was very kind and courteous. The work was done very fast and I am happy with the results. Would definitely use them again. more

I don't think they could be talking about the same company. Mike showed up (when no one else did), gave me a price, and shook my hand. His staff came on the day they scheduled for. They removed a large maple, and pruned several other trees. They even raked up the chips. I couldn't have been happier. I've even recommended them to the association I live in. CALL THEM! more
