Metropolitan Pediatric Dental

My 7 year old grandchild had to have a few things done on her teeth at the Fridley location clinic by Dr Richmond or should we say. ( Dr.Rude) She was scared so asked me if i would come along,itold her abolutely..\r First of all, her appointment was at 11:15. We arrived a whole half hour early and were told great we should be able to get her in..Not.. we not only waited till 11:15 but we didn't get in until 11:45 or so.. finally my daughter asked what the wait was and then was told they were running 15 minutes behind,we were already a half hour behind..I feel she should have been told they were running behind not have to ask...\r We finnally were called in and it's a room filled with screaming kids and loud maddness going on,,,\r she was put in the chair givin a local and then the dentist came over and started to give novacain and of course it will hurt a little but it really hurt her alot..Isaid could you give her more of the local and the dentist lost her mind...She said trust me i know what im doing, me; I realize that,but it is obvious it is hurting her alot. she told me i would have to leave cause i was making it hard for her to do her job.( Idid not leave). I meant no disrespect to her in any way..But tolerance is different for everybody.. I feel if the dentist was shaken up by the previous few children she should have taken a few minutes to calm down herself....she did not have to be rude to me and jump down my throat..\r Since when did a patient become just a number?\r I feel this is the way we were treated..\r This clinic all around needs help with people skills that is a definate fact... more

Be aware if you see Dr. Grove he has a very dumb dental assistant. My daughter is allergic to the gas they give, and it makes her vomit. I made this known and said it many many times it is even in her chart. Well the idiot he has as a dental assistant named Katie ignored the chart and cranked it, and it made her vomit and she just sat there like duh!!!!! what do I do???? I refuse to let Dr. Grove work on my daughter when Katie is his assistant on the day we go I demand we have someone else assist him. Dr. Grove is amazing, but when you have a child with high anxiety do not ever threaten her with tying her down to a freaking board that is bad especially for my daughter who has mental health issues on top of it with add and adhd how dare you Katie????? Bad bad bad and shame on oyu for saying that to my daughter. do not let Katie touch your child seriously she is not good and has no idea how to treat a child at all. more

My children have been seeing the dentists at Metro Pediatric Dental care for over 7 years and we have had wonderful experiences. My children have had cavities filled and teeth pulled over the years and the staff have been wonderful. They are great with kids and specialize in working with children who are fearful of dentists. Many parents of children with autism bring them to this office and sometimes they do need to be forceful. However, they always give parents the option of not taking that route but the only other option is total sedation and many parents are fearful of that procedure. My only complaint is that it can be hard to get an appt in a timely manner so make sure you call early! more

years ago. my daughter was 3 1/2 and she had a cavity that the DR. came to evaluate and said to me they can not save the tooth. everything happened so quick. this Dr. was a lady at the Fridley office. She pulled my daughter tooth out and my daughter cried in vain-this dr said my daughter would feel some pulling and a bit here of her pulling it out. after we left I rethink things thru and this DR-pulled my daughter tooth w/o any med-MY DAUGHTER IS IN FEAR UP TIL THIS DAY SHE HATES DENTIST. she is now 12 and still tells me she remember what they did and she was in excruciating pain. her exact words "are you guys trying to kill me" these dr and dental asst have no communication and gave her nothing before pulling it out. all she got was a light numbness with the pink gel or cream. I'm still furious when I think about what happen to my little girl. this time around I relate this to same dental for my 3 yr old diff-location. got a much better dr, but still the nightmare and anger lives on. more

We moved a few times in the last four years and we had to get a new pediatric dentist for our kids since we moved to twin cities this year. Dr. Fong looks very nice and experienced from the website and that is the reason we chose her. The office staff and hygenists are friendly. But I dont like this doctor we saw. After only seeing her twice, we have to run away from her. It is a nightmare! \r Dr. Fong seemed so busy and impatient and she basically didnt TALK to us (customers). No explaination about the conditions, treatments, procedures and after-operation care. She was kinda of annoyed (she is busy and therefore not patient?) because my son couldn't follow her direction, asking a crying 3-yr old boy to breathe with nose (the clinic has a clown nose hooked with 4 heavy silicone tubings, not a mask, to deliver the laughing gas. very uncomfortable for a 3-yr old boy. he had to breathe with mouth, which causes the gas ineffective). I would recommend Dr. Nickman and Metropolitan Pediatric Dental to anyone! My 2 year old chipped a tooth and had never seen a dentist. Even though he'd never seen her before, he made time to squeeze her in to assess the tooth the very same morning I called, then offered treatment options. He then made even more time in his already busy schedule to do a crown on her tooth that very same day! That saved us from doing temporary fixes by correcting the problem right away, and got my daughter out of pain much sooner. The staff answering the phone and the assistants were all great too! I have no idea on the cost as it all happened so fast and it wasn't a factor for me-time was the factor and they got it done right away. more

I normally do not write negative reviews, However, this experience was so upsetting that I truly felt something needed to be stated. My grandson was completely tramatized at this clinic.. 4 people HELD him down and even tho' he tried to tell them it still hurt, they continued. He was crying so hard that the little blood vessels in his face were breaking. They said the next time they would "Tye him to a board!" Needless to say, we would never take him back. He now has to be hospitalized in order for our new dentist to complete his work. They supposedly specialize in treating children. Their treatment was totally inhuman to say the least. more

Why couldn't dentistry be like this when I was a kid. The staff is so good with children that they don't even realize when the novocaine injections are happening. They offer a full line of services from general maintenance and cleaning to full tooth repair. more

Around the time that I found this group, my brother found them independently and we're both really happy 8 years later. They are so good that most kids don't even realize they have been given a shot of novocaine. There's no screaming or fighting because they know how to distract them while getting the work done quickly and well. more

i love the idea they only see children , they only work with children so they know how to work with children . the staff is well trained , kind kid friendly and warm . my children love going there and they are good to the parents also . they are friendly and make sure you understand everything before you leave . the office staff is alway very helpful . PROS: only children office CONS: most doctor only work there part time more

This dentist office is very good for children. They are very patient and understanding. My son and grandchildre usually see Dr. Fong she is very good. We have seen others too if we needed to get din soon and they are very good also. All the chairs for the dentist are in one room and you can sit outside and watch them with the dentist. more
