SH*TIEST MANAGEMENT EVER 1/26/2010

I have never had to deal with such bad management company before. One request was sent to repair my apartment and their lack of response (by email or phone call) was simply unprofessional. Because I didn't hear anything back, I continued to follow up and after a couple months gone by, not only was I NOT given any confirmed date when the repair'd take place, I was actually belittled and insulted by their management office that I was being irrational in not being able to understand that they didn't respond (for two months) because they didn't have any ETA for me. Seriously?! Simply appalled by such horrible management company.\r \r I wouldn't even give 1 star rating, but am ""required"" to give at least a star. Great managers if you communicate 11/19/2009

If you are having a problem paying your rent to MCM, don't hide! Communicate with Belinda, and then with Barbara, to let them know when you think you can make a payment. If you do so, and follow through, you will find Barbara to be an extremely compassionate person. She will state your case to the owner and give you the benefit of the doubt. If you gain her trust, she will do more for you than you could have ever imagined. Pros: compassionate if you do your part Cons: they will take action if you don't more

Top Notch Property Managment Co 7/9/2009

Both, Barbara and Melissa were very helpful and understanding to some issues and concerns that I was having. I have had some bad experiences with other property managment companies in the past... cold harsh...not caring, and unwillingness go the extra mile. \r \r MCM Property Manament is GREAT and I would recommend them to anybody, anytime. \r \r VERY satisfied customer! I am happy 5/27/2009

I lived in my apartment for the past year and half and I have always had nice experiences. I must be honest, work used to take forever to get done but I would always call Melissa and she made sure it got taken care of. I can see where some people wrote that repairs took awhile. It used to but it is better now that we can just send an email. I am surprised to see the negative experiences so many seem to have but I guess I am the lucky one. Maybe calls don't get returned immediately but like I said I always have good luck with Melissa. She is really fun, down to earth and I know she does care. Thanks MCM and thanks for Melissa! not so bad 5/8/2009

i've been living at one of MCM's buildings for the past 12 years. When something is wrong at my apartment i call and they come! easy as that! i've been reading the reviews lately and i am so thankful that is not my experience. if you have a complaint, call them and tell them! Candice, that new woman there has been really helpful lately and because of all the heat and me a/c broken, they've been very accommodating. dont believe everything you read! sounds to me that some people are just bitter! Liars and Have No Honor 5/6/2009

Having been a tenant with them for several years, the only good thing I can say is that there will probably be a special place in hell for the management team of MCM. There is nothing favorable to say about them. They are liars and have no honor. This is my experience and my opinion. And I have ample documentation to back up my statements, therefor they are NOT slander or defamation. More content with renting properties rather than right match 4/7/2009

My roomate and I are both in our late 20s....MCM matched us with a condo building full of retirees. Everytime we walk around past 9pm we are distubing the entire building. Everytime we us the guest spot...""that spot is for owners not renters"" and almost the same for every other ammenity. For rent approaching 3Gs a month I would like to feel comfortable and at ease in my residence. WE clearly explained our expectations, lifestyle and needs..... completely disappointed. i am a new tenant in one of mcm's buildings and honestly could not be happier. i love that when i call the office i am always greeted with a voice of a person, rather a machine. they have been nothing but helpful with all my requests and demands. its only been 4 months, but i already feel at home. thank you mcm! I am writing this based on my last experience which was good. My contact was Candice and the problem was the front gate not locking. It was fixed in a timely manner and my phone call was returned. I have also had dealings with Belinda which were also good and phone calls were returned 90% of the time. more

Melissa at MCM is amazing! I've lived at my place for almost 2 years and it's really nice that she takes the time to call me back and take care of anything important that I need... My relationship with her makes me feel like I have a ""hometown"" friend in a prop manager in this very big city. Thanks Melissa for exceeding my expectations!!! more

Best Property Management company in LA 1/29/2009

I have been living renting with MCM for years now and I absolutely love them!! They are always their to answer my calls, and if I ever have anything that needs to be fixed or replaced they do it without any problems. If you ever have to deal with anyone there I would try and speak to Elle, she is so amazing and helpful. Whatever needs to be done Elle will get it done for you. Many of my friends rent from MCM and they love it too!!! I would definitely recommend MCM property management co. they are the best!!! Pros: friendly and helpful and the list goes on.... more

Are you kidding me? We LOVE MCM! 1/29/2009

Being that my husband travels often with his work, we have to move frequently and MCM has been the BEST company we have had the pleasure of working with. Melissa is great, she is on the ball and on top of everything! Have you met Elle? She is an absolute doll. Not only did they explain things in detail, they called us back when they said they would, gave us all the numbers to call to establish services and they even recommended us to a local gym, drycleaner and fantastic housekeeper. We too live in an older building so naturally their is more maintenance but we are patient. Maybe you longer tenants have bad luck with repairs but Candace the newest lady in the office called us back the same day we placed our request. Sorry others have such bad luck with them but I am definitely going to share this site with our neighbors because I know how much they adore the office staff too. Sounds like all the negativity is making you so unhappy so why not move? Pros: Melissa, Elle, Candace, Belinda and Barbara Cons: Some of the nasty tenants on this website dissing good people. more

THE WORST! 12/18/2008

I've lived in their apartment for 8 years. They have never done anything when I've called. I have always had to pay for any work that needed to be done. To answer the nitwit as to why I stayed. I live in a great neighborhood and real estate values are beyond outrageously expensive, I'm very close to work and over the years have fixed the apartment up to where it looks great. Obviously that favorable review is a fraud! MCM always answers the phone(Belinda) and always promises to call back but they NEVER do. If you call after hours you get a terrible recording. One of my bedrooms was without electricity for almost a year until I finally decided to pay an electrician myself. Now I have been without heat and it has been really cold but they won't fix the heater. I think I'm going to file a small claims court case against the company, Marty, Belinda and Ron and urge everyone out there to do the same. At $5000 per case if enough tenants file it might make them wake up. If anyone out there is an attorney, maybe you could help.I've tried the city and they have never done anything. In fact, the city was just out inspecting and I asked the guy the point since MCM has never fixed a thing and Ron was there and said that he would take care of any problems. I'm not looking to move and I'm not going to but I do want to say how HORRIBLE a company MCM is. Cons: Thousands more

The worst! 10/8/2008

We have been living in an MCM building for 3 years, and it has been a nightmare from day one. If it was as easy to move as one reviewer in here suggested, we would have done so. But, as we live paycheck to paycheck, that is not as easy to do as it is to say. And, I also take offense to being classified as ""one of those people who have a good thing and like to complain"". In all my other tenant/renter experiences, there has never been a need to resort to yelling, cursing, and generally behaving without respect. HOWEVER, MCM has proven to be a sad exception. These people do not understand anything but hostile behaviour. As with the other reviewers (excepting that one lone tenant who clearly lives the only MCM property that is actually maintained) minor repairs are ignored; major repairs take repeated phone calls, and nothing is ever resolved without either myself or MCM losing their tempers. This is a managment company that allowed us, as paying tenants (who pay on time) to live with rodents for months! After we finally had to get the city involved, MCM finally set up an appointment with an exterminator for a time when they knew we would not be home to prove to the city that they were trying to resolve the issue and the problem was with us, the tenant. After one final abusive phone conversation, in which MCM told me that I was a terrible person and the source of all the problems, I have had no further interaction with them verbally. This is a company run by individuals who have no understanding of the word ""integrity"". Avoid their buildings at all costs. Pros: None Cons: Everything more

MCM Will Act If Tenants Are Persistent and Document Their Efforts 10/7/2008

Update: in the past year or two MCM has been significantly more responsive to tenant requests. I have increased their rating to three stars accordingly. Had they always been as good as they are right now, that rating would be four stars. It may be that the down economy is making it harder to retain good tenants, but sometimes people just get better at what they do. In any case, you have to give credit where it is due. ----- Having been a tenant for a long time, I realize that the landlord/tenant relationship is naturally adversarial. So, if a management company eventually responds after persistent efforts, I give them two stars, because I'm grading on a curve. In our case, MCM has usually come through with repairs, usually after a few months for non-emergency issues, and somewhat more quickly for emergency issues. Some non-emergency issues have gone on for many months, though. We presently have three code violations that threaten safety that were reported a few weeks ago; I expect that they will eventually resolve them. We presently have a non-emergency repair that has been reported for ten months now and still is not fixed. Like I said, I'm grading on a curve to give them even two stars. They're also not good at all about calling back, and they do stall and play the usual kinds of telephone avoidance games, kind of like a deadbeat avoiding a collection agency. They're worse than the prior management company we had here. It may help to document problems in rent letters; especially those involving serious safety issues. If the problems involve code violations, you can escalate by reporting the violations if they fail to act on your request. Pros: They eventually will repair stuff if a tenant is persistent and documents efforts to get them to do so. Cons: It usually requires a lot of effort on the tenant's part to get them to pay attention to their responsibilities. more

Run from this Management Company 9/25/2008

This is the worse property management company in all of Los Angeles. They refuse to fix things and generally treat tenants with a lack of respect. You have to yell and curse at them to get them to do anything. And they lie about your calls to fix things, keeping no official log of your calls. I can't tell you how many times over the years they refused to return calls on basic maintenance, and they have a reputation of hanging up in tenants faces when they call. They even hung up on the owner's daughter-in-law who is a tenant on more than one occasion. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!! Pros: RUN FROM THIS MANAGEMENT COMPANY! Cons: THEY ARE CONS more

Don't understand these other reviews 8/1/2008

I came here to leave my take on this company, and was blown away by what some people were saying...certainly not my experience.I have been in one of their buildings for a year, going on two.\r \r My credit was not the best when I applied, but they charged me a little more deposit, and gave me the place.I really liked it and was so happy to get it.The building I'm in is 70 years old and has some problems, but that's to be expected.If I didn't want maintenance problems I would have moved into a new building.When I call for maintenace I actually get a live voice on the phone...\r \r In the past I was with another company and would only get voicemail, and never heard from anyone.So I just want to say I'm happy with this company, and only wonder one thing reading these other reviews...We all know actions speak louder than words...so if others are so upset, then why do they stay in the buildings they manage?If you think about it, it doesn't make much sense.It seems to me that these are the kind of people we all know who have a pretty good thing, but just like to complain.I have a pretty good thing with the unit I live in and am happy to have it.
