Our food came out on time and was prepared just right. I would recommend this place to a hungry person the portions are huge! Service as ok but the food made up for it! I

Nice atmosphere and service, but food is bland and over priced for quality. Sauces were not up to par and lacked flavor. The veal Osso Bucco with risotto was rushed and tasted m...

Valley Romance 1/29/2006

I just went to Il Tiramisu for a celebratory dinner with my boyfriend. The food, service, and ambience were amazing!! What I loved most was that it felt like a classy place, without being snobby. In addition, the prices are quite reasonable. You can decide whether you want to go all out, or simply have a scrumptious dinner for not too much more than other local restaurants. Check it out... You won't be disappointed!! Pros: Ambience, Service, Inexpensive Valet more

An Italian Jewel in the Valley 1/18/2006

I went there for a friends 30th B-day celebration and found the food amazing! Very fresh and homemade. Really cool space and the wait staff is outstanding. I'll definitely go back soon! more

Best Italian on Ventura Blvd 1/15/2006

Finally found a place worth traveling from the westside to the valley for a unique, upscale dining experience that wont destroy your budget. Had an excetional business dinner. I would describe the food as old school Italian with a mdoern unique flair. Examples are the scallops in a cabernet sauce and duck ravioli. The overall feeling was warm and lively. I will make a return visit from WLA. Pros: service, warmth, value Cons: no kids more

decent italian food in a romantic setting 1/4/2006

we had dinner here last week for a birthday. the restaurant itself is very cozy and kind of romantic due to all the dim lighting. the menu was a little light on variety. a few appetizers, only a couple of fish with very bland sounding sauces and sides, and a few meats. the best part of the meal was the calamari, nicely fried and not overly done; and the caprese salad which was fresh. i ordered the lasagna, to my disappointment the pasta was mushy and not very firm. the leg of lamb wasn't bad but VERY gamey tasting. the desserts weren't bad but nothing stellar. the tiramisu was served in a chocolate cup, which was at least interesting to look at. the apple pie wasn't bad either. would we go back? i guess. would it be soon? probably not. Pros: nice service, nice atmosphere Cons: so-so food more

Keep Going Back!! 1/4/2006

Personally, my hangups I just can't get enoungh of are the Ravioli with pink sauce, or the salmon crapes even the salads and the fresh bread with garlic and oil that gets you started first thing, with your choice of a huge selection of wine. Let alone being personally being greated everytime by the owner at the door and a few times at the table to check on everything to make sure everything is ok. (Which I KNOW is rare to find in the LA area!) Really makes you feel that this resturant cares about their patrones, food, service, atmosphere, and you! I have not only had this experience with Peter Kastalan and Il Tiramisu but I have experienced the same consistant service many times over from this resturant before writing this reveiw and will continue to go back and tell my friends about this resturant all the same! Pros: Romantic, Great Food , Friendly Staff more

Sure thing dining - always guaranteed to have great atmosphere, top notch treatment, and superb food 1/3/2006

I've been going to Il Tiramisu since it opened, and my only regret is that I don't go there more often. Peter and Ivo run a first class operation, and their long list of regular patrons is testament to that. The first thing I recommend to any new visitors from out of town, whether they are friends or business colleagues, is that we plan a night at Tiramisu. You'll find that they welcome large parties, romantic couples, and families alike, always with the same warmth. Pros: Warm atmosphere, fantastic food, and excellent hosts and staff Cons: Wish it was next door to my house more

Exceptional - every time 12/22/2005

One of the best reasons to make a trip to the valley. I've been visiting Tiramisu over the last seven years and find Peter and Evo Kastelan (the owner's) make every one special. I've come to particularly enjoy the fabulous variety of different specials offered as well as menu of excellent Italian standards. more

Lovely Dining for all Occasions 12/11/2005

I have never written a personal review for a restaurant, but so impressed every time we eat at Il Tiramisu that I could't resist. From the lovely, romantic decor to the friendly greetings from the owner, Peter, and quality service from staff my husband and I have consistently been pleased after a wonderful meal at Il Tiramisu. It is unusual to feel so welcome at a restaurant from the moment you enter the door to leaving, but Il Tiramisu does just that. The food is wonderful, from the complimentary bread served warm to the specials ranging from fresh fishes to meat dishes. My favorites are the seafood pasta and the osso bucco dishes. The wine selection is excellent, and can't say enough about the monthly wine tasting dinners which are a hit with our guests as well. I am sure future patrons will finds something special at Il Tiramisu. more

Excellent food, service, and restaurant!!! 12/9/2005

I am so glad a friend suggested Tiramisu. We visited on a Wednesday night and enjoyed the foods! We started with an appetizer of eggplant filled with fontina cheese and knew this place was for us! Next up were the main dishes of homemade ravioli filled with spinach with the pink sauce and a chicken special called Chicken Tiramisu, I think (not exactly sure because it was a special). This chicken dinner was recommended to us by the gracious owner, Peter, and was a breast covered and baked with spinach, with a rich sauce that has some wine in it. It also came with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The food and experience was excellent! The service from the wait staff was impeccable and getting to meet and talk with the owner made this a wonderful place to dine at and we look forward to going back again! Pros: good atmosphere, prices were reasonabl, Attentive staff more

Brooklyn Had It Right-Disappointing 12/4/2005

I laughed when I read the only negative review- from someone who grew up in Brooklyn and claimed to have ""high standards"" for evaluating Italian food. However his was the only review which got it right. The ambience and service are good. The food is below acceptable. Sauces have no character and the pasta tastes as if it has been defrosted. We would not return. Pros: good ambience, friendly, problems handled corr Cons: sauces were bland, food had no character, food arrived cold more

User review by bobtale 11/19/2005

I have eaten many times here. It just seems to get better. This Thursday, it was packed with people and full of life. The owner and his father are charming and take the time to speak to each table, offer suggestions and are particularly good when it comes to selecting wine for the table. The service is as good as you can get and a free dessert is often delivered to the table (tiramisu of course and very good tiramisu) if you've ordered none and they know you've enjoyed the meal. We've had just a couple ok dishes in many experiences; most have been excellent. I highly recommend it and it's definitely reasonable in terms of price considering what is going on in L.A today. That said--there is no place like NY for restaurants, but for LA you really can't go wrong here for Northern Italian. Pros: Food, Service more

I need more ""work"" dinners like this.... 10/4/2005

I brought in a couple of co-workers for dinner. We all had a great time. The evening stared at the bar but quickly moved to our table. The atmosphere was pleasant enough for our laughter and conversation. The food and wine were great experiences. I tried the fish, my colleagues the pasta. We all wanted to have what the other was having. Dessert is usually passed by, but not this night. Great food, ambiance, service! Pros: Service, Food more

Two Thumbs Up! Way UP.... 9/30/2005

Our department from work went to the restaurant. The service was first class. We experienced the Wine Dinner. I learned about the different wines we were served and they tasted divine! I would recommend this place to my friends and family without hesitation. The four-course meal was Five-Star. If want an enjoyable evening, would like to be pampered by the staff and have a better than average meal, Il Tiramisu is for you. Pros: Great owner, Beautiful setting, Valet parking Cons: Small bar more

Italiano a Sherman Oaks-o! 8/12/2005

Imagine, you call in for a reservation 2 hours before Arriving, the host graciously seats you, literally treating you like a Gazillion dollars! ( even if your not as nicely dressed as he is ) [ not that you need to dress up, this place is casual friendly ] My date and I were seated quickly. The Pinot Grigio go's well with everything, and the Ravioli ( spinach/ricotta) was Magnifico! in the unique pink sauce! Try the Tomato Soup with Arugala pesto, unreal! but...please....DONT LEAVE without trying the Tiramisu! this places namesake Says it all! Ivo and Peter Kastelan are truly great restauranteurs! I will be back, and my date was made even more special by the great ambiance and decor! p.s. if you like Pinot- skip the glass and get the bottle especially for party of 3 or more Pros: Romantic, Elegant, Yummy more

wonderful birthday 6/9/2005

I haven't had Italian in so long and reading the reviews on Citysearch helps me narrow down my choices. This place was really great!. I immediately got a good impression when I called to make the reservation and the host was so welcoming and did not make me feel like he was too busy to be on the phone. We were seated right away at a beautiful table with fresh white linen and a beautiful red rose and candle. One of the owners came over and took our drink order, I was very impressed with how they made you feel welcome. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent and to top it off they even sent over a small dessert for my birthday. Prices were equally great and I will return. Lots of personal attention and they seem to work hard to keep your business. Pros: atmosphere, location, prices Cons: nothing more

To Die for Yummy! 6/17/2004

Each time my husband and I travel to Los Angeles to visit family, we make sure we visit Il Tiramisu as well. It is by far the best Italian restaurant in the area. Peter and Ivo are the most pleasant hosts. Not only do I enjoy the delicioius food(s), but I also enjoy the personal touch of the hosts taking time to stop by the table to see how everything is going. It just wouldn't be a proper trip to LA without dining at Il Tiramisu! Pros: polite staff, great service, great location more

Fabulous Food and Service 4/28/2004

The food is outstanding. My entire family was impressed by the excellent food and service. My out-of-town relatives wished they had a Northern Italian restaurant this good in Canada. Peter and Ivo are charming hosts/owners and the staff is very polite and well-trained. And, if you're lucky, you just might see a Hollywood Star or two in the dining room, enjoying the ambiance. Pros: Great menu selections, Super Hot Chocolate, Valet Parking more

Fabulous! 1/28/2004

This was the best service I've had in LA hands down - from being greeted at the door by the owner to the friendly bartender to the great service from our waiter. The food is delicious as well - try the scallop appetizer in a cabernet cranberry reduction - it's amazing! more

Amazing! 12/1/2003

This is an incredible place to dine. I typically don't drive over the hill but after hearing so many raves, decided to give it a shot. The service is hands down the best in town. The bread is homemade and served hot and just melts in your mouth. It's become a place I dine regularly and is VERY much worth the drive. The Osso Bucco is divine, and can't imagine life without the flowerless chocalate cake. The meatsauce beats any Italian grandmothers that I've tried. One recommendation: Get the eggplant to start! Pros: delicious, epicurean experience, GREAT wine list more

Impressed 7/30/2003

Heard this place was great, so went with a girlfriend of mine and we're treated like queens. The food was excellent, it was very obvious the ingredients were fresh. Had the special of the night which was Yellowtail with a chunky tomato sauce that was moist and very tasty. My friend had gnocci which was clearly homemade and very well done. We ended the meal with tiramisu which was very good and beautifully presented. Everything was perfect, from the bread they serve with the garlic infused olive oil, to the service from beginning to end. You won't be disappointed. more
