Once again, I dealt with an unprofessional office staff member, so I will be moving my business elsewhere.

Editorial review from Citysearch 12/4/2013

I went to Dr. Hoyte because I wanted to take advantage of my annual wellness exam which, with my health insurance is covered 100% and with no deductible. I have always paid $0 for this preventative care. I chose Dr. Hoyte because she is in my network. I made it very clear at check out that I wanted this to be billed as preventative care. The very next day I received a bill for $5 because I did not pay on the day of the visit. Confused, I called the office requesting an explanation, but did not receive a phone call back. Eventually I received a bill for $20.91. It was explained to me later that she does extra things that are not included in preventative care. Next came the bill for $35.70. When I called the insurance to for an explanation, again it was explained that Dr. Hoyte submitted codes that were not for preventative services. Then I was told that she sent my blood work to a lab that was not in my network and the next bill was $487.60. \r Grand total: $549.21 for my annual visit that should have been at no cost to me. \r Unless you have an extra $550 throw around, I would not recommend Dr. Hoyte or Women's Primary Care.\r more

AWFUL OFFICE STAFF 3/21/2012

If I could give a rating of below one star I would. I went to WPC off a recommendation from my mother's friend who has been with them for a few years. On my initial visit, the quality of care was good. Almost a year later, I have dealt with many problems. The first one being that I was leaving to go out of the country and the office worker got a temper with me for requesting to contact the doctor to get my prescription refilled. Im sure they have some type of system going, but I have had to go to the hospital last time I was not able to take my medication for a month and did not want it to happen again. It was very frustrating and the office worker was very rude to me. After they refilled my request (after I had already left the country), I called to switch an appointment and they said I couldn't be seen for 3 months. Her attitude throughout all of these encounters was so unpleasant, I will be switching doctors offices. STAY AWAY!! more

II am disabled with severe medical conditions. I have more experience with doctors and health care situations than I hope many would ever have. \r \r Earlier, I read some of the other comments about billing or professional office staff and grimaced. \r \r My word, I hope these folks never have to deal with a severe medical situation -- they'd pull out their hair in frustration for the uncaring people they will find throughout the course of their treatment other than at Women’s Primary Care.\r \r Because for folks like me and you, Sandy and her gracious, friendly, caring team of professionals that take to heart the Hippocratic oath and view themselves as Healers not as medical people in it for a profit, are there to help us get better and stay better.\r \r I thrive in the atmosphere at WPC's office. Yes, it may be a little less cold and clinical than other places, but you find caring for you as a person; you don’t find judgment; you find willingness to help you if you need it; and best of all, after a pelvic, you get a warm cotton washcloth and towel. See, you are a person and are treated as they would want to be treated too.\r \r I have been seeing Dr. Hoyte since 2004. I come from a family of physicians, and my sister, a physician, referred me to her. She is an EXCELLENT physician and a caring Healer. I know most of her staff by name and they know me. Some come and go, as Sandy also extends her caring to her employees as well as her patients. Not something anyone has told me, but something you observe over the years.\r \r As far as office staff is concerned, some folks have appeared to come from challenging circumstances -- dealing with crises in their lives and working to overcome them. So, sometimes, given an assist from this office, they may not have been first choice by other offices, but that spirit of healing extends to employees as well as patients. Some work out and blossom, others fade away. But, wouldn't you rather partner with someone who lives their beliefs?\r \r They are also adamant about being ""green."" EVEN BEFORE everyone else thought it was the right thing to do. You'll notice it in how you fill out your office visit questionnaire on a reusable coated form with a sharpie. You'll notice it in how notices for drug reps explain how to recycle packaging. You'll notice the cotton hand towels in the bathroom that are washed, folded and available for your use rather than paper towels.\r \r I have NEVER found their pricing to be too much or over expensive. In fact, I have, several times, had to remind them to charge me for services. If I receive it, I believe it's my responsibility to pay for it. Again, the office and staff do NOT have the approach of looking at this as a way of becoming rich. They look at this as their calling. If there has ever been a confusion with billing or need for paperwork to satisfy FSA or insurance company issues, I found their willingness to work on it and figure it out very professional and above all, courteous. Their office manager has even utilized technology and EMAILED forms and receipts to make it easier for me to send them out to the FSA police.\r \r If that is the kind of medical practice you are looking for, and if you are willing to work with them in a partnership approach, you will be DELIGHTED you chose Women's Primary Care. Even if you think you'd like something else, then I encourage you to try them out and see how you like the difference. I truly believe you'll be glad you did!\r more

This is an office run by humans... and Sandy Hoyt (she insists on being called ""Sandy"", not Dr. Hoyt) is a wonderful woman caring for women. I HATE doctors. I have a real issue with the arrogance and disdain that most doctors ooze from every pore. This office may be flawed, but it is caring, professional, healing and affordable. If you are a woman who even HOPES to care enough about herself to seek a true partner in her health, then become a patient at Women's Primary. Stephanie Goddard (I am NOT an employee! Worst Office in Raleigh 9/2/2010

Billing department and office manager have no idea what is going on. I agree - They hope to get by on pulling the "holistic" or nice approach but I would go see Dr. Rosemarie Newman if you need a good gyno in Raleigh. more

Bad place 7/15/2010

I think this office hopes to get by on niceness, but in my opinion, the clinic overcharges and charges for services not provided. Office does not appear to be clean but that could be due to how old and run down it is. My advice, go somewhere else. Pros: nice Cons: Treatment not good, overpriced and in my opinion overcharges more

When people have helped me in a way that has made a difference in my life, I have tried to let them know. I have fallen behind in my good intentions, so I want to take a moment now to tell of an experience with Women's Primary Care that is but one example of the things for which I should have, several months ago, said a thank you to Dr. Hoyte and Women's Primary Care staff. A few weeks before Christmas 2008, I knew I wasn't feeling well, but I delayed going to see Dr. Hoyte thinking that I would CERTAINLY get better. Well, I CERTAINLY didn't! (Humor intended! ) With only a few days left before the holiday week-end, I had progressively become so sick that one night -- sometime between 1:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. -- I promsed God that if I lived until the morning, I would be at Dr. Hoyte's office when the sun came up, even if I had to face the indignation and embarassment of confessing that I should have come in MUCH sooner. By 8:00 a.m. the follwoing morning, I was sitting in my car outsdie Dr. Hoyte's office waiting for the doors to open -- knowing that I had no appointment. The office lights came on a few minutes later. Dr. Hoyte had apparently come into the office through a back entrance, but now with the office lights on, I could see her through the front office windows. She looked up from the front desk where she was working, and seeing one lone car (mine) in the parking lot, parked squarely in front of the office door, she surmised that someting must be wrong. Although the office didn't open for an hour, she left what she was doing, unlocked the office door, came out into the parking lot and asked what in the world I was doing there. When I told her how sick I was, she said, "Come on in." I know that she had responsibilities to address that morning, or she would not have been in the office before time for her first patient, but she set those responsibilities aside to see me. Even though I felt like I was going to die (humor intended), I probably wouldn't have. She could have just told me that I needed to wait, but she didn't. I was deeply touched that she recognized the degree of dismay that I must have been in to be waiting in the parking lot almost before daylight on a winter's day! Speaking now without humor, I wouldn't make a habit of appearing at odd hours at anyone's office asking for special treatment. However, on that day, my need for care was approaching urgent, and it was greatly to my beneift that Dr. Hoyte made time in her schedule to see me -- even before the staff had arrived to begin the day. That kind of caring -- care that goes beyond the expected; beyond the even "hoped for" -- has meant so much to me. Can you even imagine that standard of care? Thank you, Dr. Hoyte. Pros: Time to Listen / Time to Care / Casual Setting more

Super Care from Caring People 7/21/2009

I have been going to this practice for more than five years, so I have been there through the comings and goings of several PAs. Throughout this time I have found Dr. Hoyte to be very attentive, listening to all of my concerns, engaging me in my own care and making me feel like I am the only patient in the world. In addition, she has also made it clear to me that, if I am ever dissatisfied with anything, I am to let her know right away. Recently, I have seen both Emily and Molly (PAs) and they have both provided me with very compassionate and thorough care, never rushing me. The office manager (Linda) and the front desk (LaToya and Crystal) are very customer focused, no matter how busy they are...and they are busy! And the medical technician (sorry, I don't remember your name) is super at not hurting me. So, thanks to Dr. Hoyte and her staff. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone. Pros: Engage me in my care. Make me feel like the only patient. Cons: None more

Best place for compassionate & thorough care 7/14/2009

I felt compelled to write about the consistently wonderful care I've experiences from Dr. Hoyte at Women's Primary Care. Dr. Hoyte is thorough, precise, warm and compassionate. She obviously cares very much about her patients & always goes the extra mile. She is extremely attentive & will never cut corners. At the same time, she avoids excessive tests & medications, trying to provide what her patients need without unnecessary treatment. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Hoyte to any woman; I have had repeated positive experiences with her practice. Pros: Caring, attentive, friendly Cons: None at all more

Trying to find another practice 5/27/2009

I have been a faithful patient at WPC for about 5 years and saw Nancy Murpyh regularly whom I adored. After Nance left I had to see Dr. Hoyte for my yearly exam and it was absoultely horrendous. Despite the fact that my best friend still loves Dr. Hoyte and swears by the practice I felt like she had a horrible bedside manner. The entire yearly appointment took about 20 minutes and I really wanted and inquired about asking her opinion about trrying a new birth control for PMDD. She asked ME what I thought and if i wanted to go on it-when my question to her was what SHE thought (as the doctor), she then recommended that I take an SSRI such as Prozac for the symptoms, I inquired with her that with the other meds I am taking wouldn't Prozac interfere? Oh yes she said, she hadn't even LOOKED at my chart to see what else I was taking before she began writing the script for Prozac!! I felt rushed, dissatisfied and completely dismayed by this experience. I even let her know that I had been seeing Nance for 5 years prior and was looking forward to working with her-to which she grunted and did not respond....Perhaps I caught her on a bad day but the reason I came to WPC for 5 years was simply because I felt like my needs were valued and I received wonderful care under Nance and the other staff. After this experience I am trying desperately to find another primary care office-does anyone have any recommendations? I do NOT recommend WPC unless something has changed dramatically over the past 6 months. Cons: Rushed staff, rude front desk staff, no concern for patients more
