Derrick Lett, General Manager, met with me and ensured my experience was fulfilled. I am pleased with Southern States Volkswagen and will recommend my bff for a Volkswagen. She wants a Beetle. I am a new customer to this dealership recently moved here. In my last two experiences here I have been treated like royalty. I cannot identify with the negative reviews I have read here and frankly don't understand how any dealership could stay in business very long if they were so poor. Volkswagen would not tolerate it. I would be happy to give this dealer an excellent testimonial. I had a check engine light and various electrical bugaboos that were butchered by an independent shop (you live & learn) while trying to ""save money"". Although it took an extra day than what I had anticipated, I'm happy they took extra time to fix it right. Sam the service manager saved me time and money and treated me professionally throughout. more

It helps if you submit internet price requests ahead of time -turned out to be about $1,000 less on an already good fair price Josh offered. So, overall, price was definitely a ""5"" after SSVW matched the internet quote (from the same dealer, but internet department interestingly). Chavis, the finance guy was genuinely friendly and respectful. more

Keith Hutchins was so courteous and helpful with the purchase of my new Beetle. It was my dream car and although I had some credit issues, Keith worked hard to get me in my dream car. I would highly recomend this dealership to anybody! These people rock! I've never been treated so respectfully at a car dealership. It was the best car buying experience I've ever had. more

Few dealerships own up to their brand when everything goes wrong. My 2010 GTI was having constant issues and finally the drive train failed after just 42k miles out of warranty. I have to commend Southern States with their professional approach in resolving the engine issues and their willingness to work with me and get the car covered under the 100k mile drive train warranty by Volkswagen. Southern States not only helped me and saved my vehicle and saved me from thousands of dollars of repair damage, but their customer service has been top notch and helped me out along the way. I have never encountered better service anywhere. \r Southern States provided me a loaner vehicle to get myself around while they worked on my vehicle and have gone above and beyond to make things right. I only hope that any new car myself or any of my family members purchase in the future; comes with this level of service and more importantly they live up to their brand 101%. I applaud you Southern States! more

Just a note to express our appreciation for the courteous, prompt, and professional mannerin which you and the staff of Southern States Volkswagen of Durham assisted us with the recent purchase of a 2010 New Beetle Convertible.\r \r On Friday morning, August 27, our son-in-law, who works for Scott Insurance, contacted Mr. Jeff Gorton and requested assistance in obtaining availability and a quote on a specific vehicle we were considering purchasing. By early afternoon you and I had spoken on the phone and basically finalized the deal, your sales consultant Priest Glenn and I had spoken and he had someone on the way to another dealer to pick up the vehicle with an 11:00 AM appointment scheduled on Saturday, August 28 for us to pick up the car.\r \r When we arrived Saturday at approximately 11 ;00 AM we were greeted by you and introduced to Priest and the genera! manager. Everything, the equipment on the car, price, etc. were exactly as discussed Friday. I just want to make a shout out to Southern States VW of Durham, specifically Rod Miller, Keith Hutchins and Derek Lett (General Manger) and Santiago. I first heard about this dealership on the Light 103.9 over a year ago and wrote the name and number down on a napkin and kept it in my truck. Well, this year, God prompted me to contact them, I did an application online and referenced hearing Rod on the radio. I met with Keith Hutchins, Rod Miller and Derek Lett (General Manager) and was treated with the utmost respect and care. The vehicle I was originally looking for had been sold, but this group of kind people found me another one; which was even better!! Just like the commercial says, Good credit, bad credit, no credit...they go above and beyond the call of duty to get you into a vehicle!! I commend them on so many levels that I felt compelled to write on your wall for your Light listeners to read and perhaps be able to experience the superb car buying process that my wife and I shared! Southern States has some awesome people there. All of there Techs are seasoned and definitely know what they are doing. Sam the service manager is a nice guy and helped me with two recalls I had on my 07 Jetta. The car is great and is by far the most fun to drive car I have ever owned!.. When I bought they were patient with me as I tried to figure out actually how to go about buying a new car. I was impressed by the knowledge I was given. A salesperson at another dealer must have been new but he didn't really answer any of my questions. I would definitely suggest checking these guys out if you are at all interested in buying a new or even used Volkswagen. services aren't cheap but I knew that buying a German made car. more

My wife and I were on an east coast trip in May of 2012 when I left my lights on over night killed the battery and had to get the security code reboot to start the car. This happened on a Saturday \r afternoon as we were getting ready to leave for an hour and a half \r ride to our next visit. Bill Rate and Andrew Biesemeir, service advisors, got us in and out in about an hour. Friendly and prompt service. Thanks again from a Wisconsin TDI owner. more

Keith Hutchins was a delight to work with. Not only is he is friendly and very knowledgeable about the VW product line, but he is enthusiastic about the company and the various models that we looked at. Before taking a couple of test drives in the two different models, he went over their characteristics and tried to help me understand some of the mechanics behind the great handling that they have. He answered every question I came up with and was frank with his answers, spending almost two hours with me! I had test-driven a VW at another VW dealership nearby and basically got in the car and drove around with the salesperson, got out, was asked if I had any questions, and then I was off, after about 45 minutes. The salesperson seemed to communicate that he didn't care if I were interested in the car or not. What a difference at Southern States of Durham with Keith! Keith made my experience (and my husband's, who test-drove the car with Keith about one week after me)not only very informative but pleasurable. more
