Serious deception 5/9/2012

Bought a ""Certified Preowned"" 2008 Passat wagon from these guys and got hustled bigtime. The CarFax that came with the vehicle says the car has never been in an accident and yet the are after-market parts holding the radiator. We only discovered this after taking the car to another dealer for $2100 in emergency repairs. Th were parts that re severely damaged, there were parts missing altogether. When I contacted the Service Manager, Rod Miller with my story he completely ignored me. I have not heard a word from him or anyone else at he dealership. If you want to buy a Volkswagen, and you should they are great cars, don't buy it from they hucksters. They lie! more

I bought my car from SS Volkswagen in 2004 and just sold it (private party). My experience with SS Volkswagen was nothing but trouble. \r \r Before purchasing a VW, Google: ""chain driven oil pump and tensioners flaw in VW Passat"" to get an idea of the types of repairs that you can expect with this type of vehicle. The fix is $3200+ (includes new tools from VW).\r \r My last experience with SS Volkswagen involved service for the entire month of August 2011. The problem was misdiagnosed initially. $2000 and 28 days later, I walked out with a functional VW. \r \r I suggest local repair instead of this dealer for service. Don't trust the diagnoses and if they say something that doesn't sound logical, walk out while you still have your wallet. more

I recently bought a car here, and I would say the buying experience was actually a pleasure. Keith and Prince were very nice and allowed me to test drive several cars and took their time to explain all the details and features. There was no pressure to buy, and their price was also great, so haggling was pretty much unneccessary. They didn't have the color I wanted in stock, so they were able to get one in from another dealership in just 2 days. They also called me to keep me updated on where the car was. I'm really happy with my new car. I felt these guys deserve some positive comments. Most of the negative reviews here seem related to the service department. I can't comment on that side yet since my car still only has 300miles on it. But for the buying experience I would give them a solid 5 stars. more

been treated like royalty 7/12/2011

I am a new customer to this dealership recently moved here. In my last two experiences here I have been treated like royalty. I cannot identify with the negative reviews I have read here and frankly don't understand how any dealership could stay in business very long if they were so poor. Volkswagen would not tolerate it. I would be happy to give this dealer an excellent testimonial. I had a check engine light and various electrical bugaboos that were butchered by an independent shop (you live & learn) while trying to ""save money"". Although it took an extra day than what I had anticipated, I'm happy they took extra time to fix it right. The service manager saved me time and money and treated me professionally throughout. more

so courteous and helpful 7/8/2011

Keith Hutchins was so courteous and helpful with the purchase of my new Beetle. It was my dream car and although I had some credit issues, Keith worked hard to get me in my dream car. I would highly recomend this dealership to anybody! These people rock! I've never been treated so respectfully at a car dealership. It was the best car buying experience I've ever had. more

has some awesome people 7/1/2011

Southern States has some awesome people there. All of there Techs are seasoned and definitely know what they are doing. The service manager is a nice guy and helped me with two recalls I had on my 07 Jetta. The car is great and is by far the most fun to drive car I have ever owned!.. When I bought they were patient with me as I tried to figure out actually how to go about buying a new car. I was impressed by the knowledge I was given. A salesperson at another dealer must have been new but he didn't really answer any of my questions. I would definitely suggest checking these guys out if you are at all interested in buying a new or even used Volkswagen. services aren't cheap but I knew that buying a German made car. more

Bad customer service in service department 1/10/2008

I have a VW and have found it to be in need of service on a fairly consistent basis. I have always taken my car to the dealer in the past and so have continued to do so upon relocating to Durham. I have not been impressed by the customer service here. I always feel coerced into accepting more service than I had originally asked for, and I do not feel like the representatives honestly present the options for car repair. In general it's not a customer friendly or open environment. I would avoid this place if you can. more
