Abusive KENNEL 7/8/2010

I picked up my beautiful German Shepherd from this place and had to take her to the Emergency Vet within hours. Her hind leg had been sprained and was inflamed and bruised , she was limping severely. This happened during her stay, no veterinary care was given. They claimed no knowledge of her injury but on my way out I saw Mr. Williams yank another dog up by a choker leash and make the dog yelp. From the difference in my dog's disposition and now fearful behavior, I would lay my life on the fact that my dog was abused while at this kennel. He should NOT be in business. I don't know if they kicked my dog, strung her up, or shoved her around. All I know is that she wanted to get the hell out of that place and hasn't been coming out of her bed all day. Her system was shocked by whatever happened and she's presently blowing coat like a porcupine. This happens to dogs in times of high stress. I guess getting beaten up would be high stress. My dog is a well-behaved housebroken German more

regretful experience 5/8/2010

My mom and i both brought our dogs here for housetraining - i would not recommend the place to others. I think they are way way too rough with the dogs. When the trainer demonstrated using the choke collar on my dog, he literally yanked her so hard that she flipped off the ground. To this day, both my dog and my mom's dog now cower when you lean over to pet them because they think someone is going to hit them. This behavior never occurred before they came home from their two week stay at the kennel. There is an extreme lack of sensitivity to animals at this place; don't trust them with your pet. more

do not take your pets here 5/8/2010

I want other people to know that this is a horrible place to take your pets. My dog stayed here for two weeks and was definitely abused. She gets scared of men now and wets around them, and if you bend over to touch her she acts as if she's going to be beaten. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WITH YOUR ANIMALS. Cons: i would give zero stars if possible more

Elkhound Ranch Kennels is excellent! 10/5/2009

The staff at the Ranch has always taken good care of our dogs. We love the fact that the kennels are roomy and that our dogs can go to the bathroom away from their sleeping area any time they like. The outside play area is very big, and our dogs love playing there. They also provide walks, which are well worth the extra cost. Our dogs come always get excited when we pull up to drop them off, and they come back to us happy and healthy. more

Caring People 4/10/2009

I have had several dogs there long term and these people truly care about them. They are very compassionate people. I wouldn't take our dogs anywhere else. Pros: Owner Dave has won many training awards Cons: none more

Dog Boarding 1/5/2009

We've used them a couple of times now and I can't say they are the most friendly people but I think they are just a little different. I feel like they probably do what they need to do and that is about it, feed and water the dogs. Our dogs always come back dirty and like their kennels weren't washed out but oh well...our dogs were fine and healthy when we returned. more

DO NOT USE - ABUSIVE AND RUDE 9/8/2008

I liked this kennel at first, but they practice very misleading and poor business practices. The first time we used them, the owner said we could pick them up anytime. We picked our dog up at 3:30; however, there is a sign saying after 3 p.m. you pay for an extra night. She didn't charge us the extra night. The second time our dog stayed there was a Saturday night, the owner said the only hours they are open Sundays are 4 to 5 p.m. We picked our dog up Sunday at 4:03 p.m. We were charged TWO nights! The owner argued with me and said all kennels do that. Not true. Our last place didn't. Then I told her she never told us when I made the reservation nor when we dropped our dog off that we would be charged for two nights. It is very MISLEADING to say pick them up between 4 to 5 p.m. but you are charged an extra night after 3 p.m. Why not be open from 2 to 3 p.m. then? Needless to say we will NOT be going back!\r \r I've also ready MANY reviews of abuse! more

Kennels 8/25/2008

A large indoor outdoor kennel. They pamper your pet and take good care of the animals. The dogs are clean, well fed and not upset when we get them home. more

Our dog enjoys playing there. 7/27/2008

We are happy to find a place that our dog enjoys. The kennel is in the country with lots of trees and grass yards. It is on a unique curvy road that our dog knows where he is going. He gets excited when we are getting close. He can't wait to go inside and play with the other dogs. They have a great daycare area where the dogs can play inside or go outside to play in a large yard through a doggie door. He is happy to come for the day or stay if we are out of town. Pros: My dog is happy and is excited to enter. Cons: none more

The worst Dog Kennel Ever 7/18/2008

I left my 2 wonderful dogs at the Elkhound Ranch for 4 days in July. I am so sorry for them for putting them in such a terriable place. Mr. Williams not only is very strange and mean to his employees(yes I heard him yelling at his wife)but my dogs came back from there very differant. My big dog is now hand shy(he has never been hand shy as no one would ever do anything to him and wasn't hand shy before his stay)My little dog had a small divot out of his ear and seemed to be depressed. When Mr.Williams brought my dogs out and gave them to me, my big dog peed on the floor.....oh my it's a kennel this should not be a big deal. You would have thought it was the end of the world...really?? it would be unusual for a dog to urinate when they see their beloved owners after a few days.....Has this guy never been around dogs??? They also came home with fleas. They were "groomed" while they were there. They have never had fleas now I have to deal with that. Pros: NONE Cons: ABUSE OF ANIMALS more
