i had really high hopes bc when i called for my first appt last year. i was assigned to Dr. Lisa Beard, who actually saw us at the first appt and was extremely personable, professional and knowledgable throughout my entire pregnancy. She always took the time to answer the few questions we did have during appointments. Unfortunately, this is where the pros end. The office staff is awful, everchanging and disorganized. I have never felt like a number so much. In particular, we had a horrid experience with the billing department. I was a self pay patient. I signed up for a package, pay X-amount over 4 payments due by 36 wks. WELL. everytime we went to leave we would schedule our next appt and always made sure to ask if we owed any money. we were always told no, not til such and such a date. it was very confusing. around 30 wks, I received a call from the billing dept telling me i had a balance that was like a $1000 more than what we had left to pay. i was taken aback and said she must be mistaken. After a few phone calls, nothing was resolved and we were to meet with her at our next appt. So we met with Rosa. She had almost nothing prepared other than a bunch of numbers on a blank receipt with no description and a total. I was told that shortly after i enrolled they revised their package and the check out girl must have assumed that i was on the new plan and that i still owed this ridiculous amount of $ that was supposed to be paid by 28 weeks (huh?). after several more calls and meetings, it turned out I was right all along. Fast forward to delivery time. I started laboring on Memorial Day. I waited as long as I was told necessary at home then called the answering service. I was called back promptly. So i made my way down to the hospital. The doctor on call for the day was Dr. Hardwick-Smith. I was pleased to hear this since I knew she was the head doctor and had stellar reviews from everything i had seen. I was admitted that evening. After i received my epidural, we had a bit of a scare with baby's heartrate but the situation was tended to promptly by the nursing staff and everything was then fine. I received a phone call from Dr. HS who told me she was on her way to perform a c-section?! i was naturally confused. When she arrived, she walked in, introduced herself first to my fiance and then to me and was very short with us. We then told her we didn't feel that a c-sec was necessary and she was appalled. Her bedside manner was completely atrocious. She gave us conflicting information and didn't get the correct updates from the nurse before speaking with us. When we told her we did not want to do the c-section she was insulting and completely uncompassionate. she made me feel like i was being selfish and a bad mother before my son was even born. i understand that emergencies happen, but with all due respect, she was not there when the incident happened and we felt she was jumping too quickly. we did lots of research prior to delivery and during this situation. she was clearly upset with our decision. i understand her concern, but the way she spoke to us (using words such as irrational and selfish) was unacceptable. I was also told several times that if i delivered on a normal weekday between normal business hours that Dr. Beard would be there. nope. 8am brought us Dr. HS again. She was definitely more pleasant with us that day. When it was time to deliver, she did beautifully. Our son was facing up instead of down and she successfully was able to turn him around and helped me get him out extremely fast. i do believe she is an extremely talented doctor, but she had left a sour taste in my mouth from the night before. The next day we waited ALL DAY for a doctor from CWCC to discharge me. The baby was discharged before i was. I thought that being right next door to the hospital would have helped. \r
wasnt worth it.
Pros: Dr. Beard
Cons: everything else
