Best

I came here with some friends. The location is perfect! We were in Boston doing all of the fun touristy stuff and stopped in for some lunch. I had the clam chowder and the lobster...

Worst

I frequent the chart house once a month. On the last two occasion's it was horrible. I took friends who never go to Boston there one night. the waitstaff was great but the port...

Worst Restaurant ever. 6/14/2010

I have never been been somewhere so terrible. I have been to many fine dining restaurants and I must say, I've had better service at mcdonalds. The management were awful. They never even came by to aknowledge that the food took almost an hour until I demanded to see a manager. The food was not very good and you could tell it was sitting in the window for a while. I felt so bad for the poor waitress as I watched her run around and ask the manager to come over and I saw him brush her off!! I will never come back and you lost a very big customer. more

Great Seafood, Great Atmosphere 6/2/2010

I came here with some friends. The location is perfect! We were in Boston doing all of the fun touristy stuff and stopped in for some lunch. I had the clam chowder and the lobster roll. They were both AMAZING! The lobster roll was the best that I have had since I moved to Boston. We sat on the patio and it was gorgeous. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. Pros: Food more

An awesome expierence! 6/2/2010

Last Saturday I chose a Chart House restaurant for a late dinner with my friends. And it was a right place to go. We all had a wonderful time! Pros: Amazing atmosphere more

great food and service wow 4/19/2010

The food at this place is the best food in boston prime rib just fell apart in my mouth so tender and for the chowder I tried all over boston this place has the best and for the service I eat out all the time and they by far have the top servers in boston. I dont wait tables any more but if I was to every do it again this would be the place. Pros: All I can say is WOW more

DO NOT PLAN EVENTS HERE Worst experience 7/7/2009

Had our rehearsal dinner here. They never mentioned it was not handicap accesible so two of our guest had to sit alone downstairs in bar area and had to WAIT an hour to even do that just to have a tray of food dropped on them. No consideration was given to them or us for the issue. We arrived 15 min. early and had a table of two eating right in the middle of our area.... if our area was not ready they had no business seating us. It has been 30 days and I am fighting with their corporate office in Houston to get my deposit back. I called on 5 separate occasions being promised it was being taken care of and here I am still waiting. I am on hold for 22 minutes so far with corporate trying to remedy the situation. The manager and event coordinator in Boston admit the deposit is due but for some asinine reason ALL credit have to go through their corporate accounting office. I was given 3 phone numbers to track my credit down because the first 2 did not work. Why in the heck do I need to do all this leg work because I had the worst experience for my rehearsal dinner? This place is nothing more than a big corporate chain and part of Landry's... had I known I would have stayed with something local like we originally discussed. Pros: Cool Building Cons: Poor execution, working with corporation so hard to work wit more

Really Disappointed! 3/25/2009

I was really disappointed w/ the service and the food. It was my husband's B-day and we went to the Chart House for the first time. The waiter didn't give us much attention thought out the whole dinner. He brought us water (the glasses were all dirty!) and bread almost 15 minutes after we arrived. He seemed to me in such a hurry to get our order that he was almost rude. I didn't really understand his hurry as it was tuesday night and the restaurant was not busy at all. I've ordered a margarita as I don't drink wine and it was horrible and even though I told him that and ordered a soda instead he still charged us for it. I ordered from the Restaurant Week Menu and my husband ordered the sword fish from their regular menu. My food was ok (had better elsewhere!) but my husband's food was horrible. The rice was dry and the fish had no flavor at all! The worst that he ever had specially when you take in consideration that he was a cook! One of the guests seated next to us had to re-order the food as it was way overcooked. When the replacement order came in she said that it was good while the manager and the head chef were at her table but as soon as they turned around she said that it was worse than the first one and her friend suggested that she should not waste the food and take it home for her dog!!! The only good thing was the asparagus which I heard good comments from the next table as well. For desert, I've ordered the key lime pie to go. The girls on the table next to us ordered the same thing and I even made a comment to my husband that I was glad that the desert was to go because the slice served was huge but, when I got to the car (the valet parking service is really good!) I've realized that the box was too light so I've checked the order and they gave me 2 little lemon tarts that were not even close to whatever the girls next to us got. I almost went back to make a formal complaint but my husband just told me not to as that was our first and last time there. I apologized to my husband as I wanted something special for his B-day and told him that I was really sorry for the whole experience there. It was awful and I wouldn't recommend this place for my worse enemy! Even the chowder that they say it's the best in town was bad. I had better at Outback and even 99 Restaurant. The price is really expensive for the food and treatment that you get. They shouldn't call it ""high end"" at all. Pros: Valet parking Cons: Everything besides the parking more

Did not rate a good tip 6/7/2008

We visit Boston frequently throughout the year and the Chart House has always been tops with us.Not so any more! Our last visit on June 4,2008 proved disastrous .The service was very poor and when the main course was served the waiter asked if we needed anything else.Yes, I replied I would like to have some more rolls. He hesitated for a moment and then said ,Rolls? Why do you want more rolls? You have one roll left in the basket !I I replied that one of the two guests with me would enjoy having the white roll, could he please bring another basket for the rest of us? Well I guess you mean that you like the dark rolls? okay then I will bring a dark roll for you. I actually thought that an additional basket of rolls would have been nice for all at the table. The waiter passed by my table at least five times and never brought the rolls .Likewise when it came time for the bill we each needed a separate check because we were travelling on business. He never acknowledged the missing rolls.and succeeded in mixing up the bills for two of us. We handled the mixup amongst ourselves because we could not wait to get out of the place.I spoke with the manager and told him these types of irritations are what cause people not to come back . I have dined in many restaurants over the years and have never been denied an extra piece of bread or a roll.or even a full basket for that matter! What a cheap establishment! What ignorant employees! more

Customer Service is horrible 5/30/2008

My husband and I have eaten here numerous times and most likely will never return. Cons: customer serivce more

Extremeley Bad Experience 3/12/2008

I went to the Chart house with five of my girlfriends for Boston?s Restaurant Week because I had never been there and wanted to try something new. Sadly, the experience was overall, horrific. This higher-end seafood/ steakhouse establishment should have top of the line service and quality food, neither of which I was impressed with. Our waiter was less than pleasant throughout dinner and was completely biased towards our table once he found out we were ordering from the ?Restaurant Week? menu. Between dinner and desert, one of my friends got a drink accidentally dumped on her, and only got reimbursed a extremely minimal amount, which was ridiculous for this higher-end establishment. The waiter never apologized or even offered to pay for the dry cleaning bill. We talked to the manager after dinner and basically got scolded for complaining about the service. more

A great experience 12/4/2007

I've been there 3 times so far and going again tomorrow. This is one of my favorite restaurants and I think both the food and atmosphere are amazing. I hear the steak very good but I've only had the seafood and I've never left unsatisfied. Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: A little pricey more

TERRIBLE 6/30/2007

I had my graduatin dinner at the chart house - the service was beyond horrible....it took over an hour to get WATER, we ordered 4 bottles of wine and waited even long for those....the glasses were dirty, our waitress kept forgetting things...she was terrible, after asking her for menus, our wine, glasses, etc., she told us that she was going to go hurt herself......She dumped HOT TEA down the back of one of my guests...my grandmother wanter her prime rib cooked longer, and they gave her a hard time for it. multiple people from my party spoke to the management a number of times, and the experience just got worse and worse. the food was ok, but not worth the extremely high price. it was a disaster, and i will never go back, Pros: location Cons: everything else...service, price, food more

small portions 4/20/2007

I frequent the chart house once a month. On the last two occasion's it was horrible. I took friends who never go to Boston there one night. the waitstaff was great but the portions were very small not what i am used too. My friend's husband got the fillet and commented that he was still hungry too bad there wasn't more of it. My husband's sea bass was 3in by 3 1/2 inches after spending more than $450.00, i wished i had went to Morton's. I emailed them and told them ab our dissatisfaction. they had the manager call me and he told me to call when we were coming again. I did. He acted like I was calling to ask him for something for free, he told me the best he could do was give me a good waiter. I was appalled, but i went anyway bec my daughter wanted to try it, not only they gave me the buttsof all filet's. there was not one piece in my or my daughter's order that was not an end piece our bill was $ 200. I will never go to chart house again they treat their returning patrons horribly. more

Dissapointed with the food and service 1/22/2007

We were looking forward to nice fresh seafood and should have selected a different reaturant. The baked scrod was not very good and the swordfish ordered by someone else in the party was just ok. The service was just average or below. Our water glasses were not filled and it was a long wait to get the check. The food was not worth the price. I would not recommend the Chart House. Pros: location Cons: Aweful food, high price more

Good Seafood/So so Service 9/18/2006

Really enjoyed the food at this place but the service left a lot to be desired. Especially when they look like they tend towards more the upscale fine dining end of things. The waitress was pleasant enough but seemed to answer everything like she was reading cue cards. Not really feeling like it was a recommendation but more a sales pitch to move that entree or appertiser or dessert. She gave us one bill to sign off on and then when she came back with the credit card receipt it was a different amount. When ""caught"" she just said ""oh well that is what it really was"". Not an apology or even an acknowldgement that there was an error on the original (not arguing that we shouldn't have paid -but an acknowledgement of her mistake prior to us pointing it out would have been nice) Service took FOREVER. A lot of ""lull"" time inbetween ordering and receiving food. Pros: food and ambience Cons: waitstaff and time alottment for dinner more

Awesome Food 6/24/2006

Probably one of the best values for a restaurant in Boston based upon the quality of food, portioning and ambiance. The selection from the menu is perfect....not too many items to make the menu overwhelming. The wine selection was adequate and resonably priced. The ambiance was perfect. The chowder was incredible!......the valet service was a perfect beginning and end to a wonderful experience (and it cost me just a tip as opposed to the normal parking fee of $30 in the lot next door) more

best waterfront seafood 6/18/2006

I can not believe he last two reviews. I always find the food outstanding. The parking is free where else in boston do you find that . Order the dyamite seabass you can get scrod anywhere. sounds like cranky people who need to enjoy life! Pros: Free valet, great historic building, lobster cracked table side Cons: no elevator more

Awful service 9/25/2005

Our appetizers took 30 minutes to arrive, and after waiting another 50 minutes (!) we finally asked our waiter where our main dishes were. Apparently, our ticket was ""lost"" and they promised the next meal out of the kitchen would be ours. That wasn't the case, and after being at the restaurant for over an hour and a half, we decided to leave and pick up something on our way home. They did at least comp us the appetizers, but didn't even apologize for the poor service. Unfortunately, this was my first Boston experience .. not so good. Pros: appetizers good Cons: poor service, long wait more

Looks A LOT better than it is... 7/1/2005

This was an unfortunate experience. We waited almost an hour 1/2 for our meals during a not busy time, our waitress was young and unexperienced, we got salmon that wasn't even cooked adequately, and the food was far too pricey for the portion size and quality. I wouldn't suggest this unless you're getting drinks or desserts. Nice view though more

Solid classics in a wonderful location 2/21/2005

There's nothing wrong with the Chart House. It's just not that exciting. The cuisine is straightforward New England and everything is solid (I've had lobster, steak and scallops), with nothing outstanding. For tourists looking for chowder, Chart House's is a little too salty for my taste. It's certainly a good location, and the bar/lounge is nice. It's just a little too old-fashioned for anything for me I think. more

Something is really wrong there! 8/29/2004

The white wine was lukewarm, the lobster bisque had a strong ""burnt"" taste (and whet we sent it back the waitress said: ""That was out last batch"". The baked potato was stale. Following the crab ($33) we did not even get a moist towel or anything to rinse our fingers. Everything else was OK. more
