Worst

If you want a El. Salvadoran Chef cooking Italian food then go to Catellis. The food was Awful!! And the service stunk! Some one should tell immigration about this place no one i...

Go into Phila instead... 2/14/2010

Terrible experience. Food is decent but the experience was awful. Poorly run restaurant with management nowhere to be found. 1 hour wait with an open table reservation (and had to secure with a credit card and threat of a $25 fee if a no show). Over an hour wait for entree. Service was terrible; we were ignored in 20 minute increments between courses. This place is tacky and amateurish. I will make the extra 20 min drive to Philadelphia for a good meal and service next time. Pros: decent food Cons: service and mgmt appalling more

Is What It Is... 11/30/2008

It was pleasant enough but nothing more than okay. I think my main gripe is that while the rest of my family got respectfully expensive and full-sized entrees, I opted for an ""entree-size salad"". Granted, I chose a simple caesar but I did order the ""entree-sized"" and it was a bit embarrassing when I had to ask my server, ""is this the entree-sized?"", thereby feeling like that guest who implies ""i need more food"". I just got that all too common feeling that the kitchen was not to be bothered with someone who simply wants a good plate of greens and plenty to tide me over while the rest of my family eats their wholler meals. Oh! And beware - they host a lot of private parties it seems. So we were originally sat in a room with a private party (a curtain separated what appeared to be a workshop). It was a powerpoint presentation complete with screen and microphone. After hearing ""can we turn this up?"", I requested another table. That is really not acceptable. So all in all a decent experience. It was a warming place. But leaves that feeling of wanting to be fine-dining but not quite there in terms of propriety and standards. Pros: Nice atmosphere and warming decor Cons: Private parties are not quite so private; food decent not mind-blowing more

Catelli is GREAT 7/7/2008

Whenever I see such conflicting reviews of an established restaurant, I am immediately suspicious. \r In my experience, virulent diatribes such as you might see for Catelli are usually written by unsavvy diners experiencing buyers remorse after the check comes. They've eaten a great meal but it cost them more than Friendly's. If you notice, it usually follows a holiday visit. Not really a fair experience to review a restaurant.\r Catelli restaurant in Voorhees is, and has always been one of the best places in all of So. ""Jerzee"" for really great Italian fare. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly and the portions are extremely generous. For my money, why go anywhere else? Pros: Ample portions more

Not worth it... 6/11/2007

I have to echo what the review below wrote regarding this restaurant about a year ago...\r Avoid this restaurant if at all possibe...\r The menu is plain and elementary - I very rarely review a menu and find that I can't get excited about at least one of the selections. \r The items are overpriced. Of course, Raw Bar items are overpriced everywhere, but 25 bucks for a few raw clams and an oyster is a little much.\r The service is pretentious and whiny. Our head waiter acted as if he thought ""this is how a snobby, knowledgeable head waiter should act"", but didn't have the intelligence or experience to back the act up. The remaining wait staff complained of the ""crazy night"", but although it was Saturday, the restaurant was half empty?\r There is no menu flexability. You cannot replace the ""free soup"" with a small garden salad. \r The wine list was okay and price all right as well...Santa Margherita was not 12.00 a glass, but a more expected 7.00 dollars.\r I would avoid this restaurant if you are looking for well-trained service, excellent food, and flexibility.\r Not worth the price, nor your time. Pros: Good Pace to the Meal, Wine List Priced OK Cons: Everything else more

Whoa Nelly! 8/27/2006

I have to retract my review below! I loved the food so much I recommended it to my girlfriend. We went back last Wednesday night. I even called and asked when their last seating was and they assured me that 9:15 wasn't too late to go. When my friend and I arrived at 9:10, the manager rudely told us the kitchen was closed, no 'I apologize but' or 'we regret to inform you'...it was more like, 'LEAVE NOW before the door hits you on the way out.' He even said 'I don't know what you were told on the phone but we're closed.' BEWARE of the customer serviceLESS manager!! Now I won't bring my family, friends, and colleagues back, EVER! even if the food is good!\r \r \r August 28, 2006:\r I ordered from the wonderful four-course prix fixe menu. The diver scallops were tender and buttery. The truffled gnocchi was very flavorful, but after the two mini appetizers drenched in heavy cream, I was already full. I could barely sample the perfect filet mignon and crab, leaving even less room for blueberry/peach cobbler a la mode.\r \r The good: everything was delicious, rich, and as tasty as it was beautiful. Check out their website- the food is AS good as the menu's descriptions and pictures!\r \r The bad: it doesn't take many patrons to make the place really loud, but on the upside, it drowned out the annoying MUSAAC squeaking out of the speakers.\r \r The ugly: the old green carpets and matching floral chairs from 15 years ago have to go! This isn't a Holiday Inn Buffet ya'll!\r \r I'd recommend the place to others- the great food makes the decor and music worth sitting through. Pros: Food is good, undeniably. Cons: Service is horrible, hostess doesn't welcome you, manager is rude more

Unbelievable 5/5/2006

I don't know where the last reviewer was eating...but this was as good as it gets. A 5 Star Diamond Award winner...Catelli didn't dissapoint. I had the signature veal chop...stuffed with Fontina Cheese and a lobster tail. Unbelievable. The lobster bisque was a great start...and the dessert tray was a mind blower. The wine list is one of the areas best i've ever seen. (Especially the library collection). I went on a saturday night and couldn't take advantage of the 4 course tasting menu...sun-thursday. But I'll go back. If the last reviwer went during restaurant week. Then no wonder. The place is a zoo and it's amateur hour. Zagat loves the joint. It's a classic...like the Saloon in Philly...a classic. Pros: Cuisine, Ambience, Service Cons: Group seated near us more

Wouldn't go back if the food was free 3/22/2006

The food was tasty, but the service left a bitter after taste. The meal was ruined by the lack of trained employees. Through the entire meal our food was literally droped off and no sign of our server. When food was served we were handed it from across the table, my mother literally having to stand to reach for hers. The end of meal came and deserts were brought but no coffee. When the disaster was brought to the attention of the manager he explained that with the crowd for restaurant week they were unable to keep up. I explained to him that he should've made less reservations to provide better service. At this he walked away. Amazing how we did a restaurant week the night before with a place of comparable food, price, clientel, and influx of guest for that week and were given an amazing meal and service. Pros: food Cons: service, management, ambience more
