Filthy office, the staff was competent, the services were okay, but the place was dirt and then some. There are other veterinarians out there to choose from.

Campus Veterinary Clinic takes care of our dog 8/24/2009

First off, let me begin by saying Campus Vet is competent and professional. They refilled our dog's prescription of prednisone so his once-a-year itching flare-ups can be treated. Our dog can be a little whiny at times, but they handle him well. Recommended. more

Been a client there for 25 years 6/7/2009

I have been a client of Campus Vet since the mid 80s and have always found them to be compassionate, thorough and extremely helpful. I can't say I've really gone price shopping, because the quality of the care for my dogs is more important than the cost and they've always done right by my animals. In 2004, my one year old dog was hit by a car on the Friday before the Memorial Day weekend. I showed up with him in my arms, bleeding and with his eye popped out, at 5 minutes to 5, just as they were preparing to close for the holiday weekend. They stayed with him until he was stabilized and could be safely transferred to the local pet emergency hospital, some three hours later. You can't buy that kind of dedication.Maybe there are other, equally good, dedicated vets in the area, that may even charge less. But Campus Vet is a quality organization that I trust with the lives of my pets. more

Love It! 10/16/2008

I love this place! Everyone was very warm and welcoming to my very very very shy dog and my outgoing friendly one as well . The receptionist I spoke with on the phone was very sweet and offered me several appointment times when I gave her the date I wanted to come in. She waited patiently while I fumbled with my calendar and had to put her on hold. more

Avoid taking your best friends to them 8/12/2008

Receptionist are horribly rude, please avoid interaction w/ them. Pros: NULL/ZERO Cons: unprofessionals, money makers, your pet=$$$ to them, rude receptionists! more

Dr. Reid is amazing! 7/9/2008

I'm shocked by the negative reviews. I have found the CVC to be friendly and willing to accommodate the need for quick appointments or changes in my schedule. Dr. Reid is kind and very attuned to cats-- which I have found to be rare, as many vets seem to cater to dogs only. The most important thing, though, is that any time I've needed advice, it has been given to me over the phone--quickly and free of charge! They even came up with a personalized diet plan for my cat based on food I chose, not food they tried to sell me. And when I was concerned about possible side effects of medication, Dr. Yen called me within 5 minutes of my call and immediately wrote a new prescription, after discussing the pros and cons of various meds. Dr. Reid is willing to answer any question I might have no matter how off topic (I have a real interest in animal behavior), and she never makes me feel rushed. What is more, the staff has been nothing but kind... plus, they have parking!! more

Overpriced, poor service 6/19/2008

If you want to pay more for veterinary services and be treated badly, then go here. They don't care if you are a client or not, just want to make a buck. The receptionist was rude and did not try out the problem I was having. Not a good place... more

Poor service 6/19/2008

We have been clients at Campus Vet for several years, always paying on time and being charged more, IMO, than what the service has been worth. We have been going for convenience reasons mostly as it's nearby. I called to get a microchip put in our cat, and was told besides the $60 fee for that, I would need to schedule a regular check up since our cat has not been in for 8 months and pay extra for the checkup! When I said that I could get it done on Saturday at a pet clinic for $40, the receptionist said, "Fine.". ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I called Dr. Four Paws and he will take me today for $40 with no new client fees! Guess we have a new vet! more

You can do better 6/19/2008

How can such an overpriced, uncaring clinic stay in business? I heard that the vets before were good and honestly cared about the animals. Not so now. Do yourself a favor and stay away, unless you have money to burn. Cons: receptionists who are rude and don't care, high fees, lots of extra fees tagged on for routine services more

Overpriced 6/19/2008

Only go here if you like to over pay for services and be treated rudely by staff with no genuine care about your pet. Client loyalty does not seem to be a factor here, only how much money they can get from you. Although they are nearby, I'm forced to go to a better, more caring, reasonably priced vet. Maybe it's a blessing. Pros: nearby Cons: over priced, uncaring, rude receptionists more

wonderful clinic 5/31/2008

Wow. Some of the negative reviews made me feel obligated to jump in and say a few words. Veterinary care costs money, by now all of us know that, but when that care saves your pet's life you know who the good vets are and this clinic is fantastic. Dr. Reid saved my cat's life when two other local vets said she wouldn't have a chance. I got updates, information and comfort throughout the day while my cat was hospitalized. This vet is good and she cares, and if you haven't noticed this then I wonder who YOU are and what type of client YOU are. I am a small business owner and am forever amazed at how critical people are when in fact it is they who are difficult to deal with. That being said, I give these people 5 stars; from the cute girl at the front desk, to the nurses, to the vets...they have been wonderful. more

Dr Reid is GREAT 5/30/2008

Dr Reid is an excellent vet and a caring person. We have extensive experience with her caring for our sick dog. I would recommend her to anyone, especially dog lovers. more

they are simply horrible 5/28/2008

Keep your pets out of these unprofessional people. You pet is just a business to them. Both drs. Are really terrible. The old one is expressionless, he has his own world does not communicate well and keep things to himself. You have to ask to get something (if lucky) out of him. Surprisingly his around pets despite his depressed look and demeanor!\r The second dr is really new and terrible, she is learning every day, misdiagnosing your pet illness in a common thing not an exception! One of the receptionists has a nice smile, but boy she is mean like a devil! Please do me a favor, do not use them! They are simply raw people and their main goal is to get your money! If you really love and care about your pets, these people are not the right one for your loved ones! more

Great Docs and Staff 4/16/2008

These guys are excellent. I stopped in a couple of days ago and saw Dr. Reid for routine vaccines. She looked my dog over from head to toe and he seemed to enjoy the whole exam. She was very gentle and extremely thorough. I have also seen Dr. Yen in the past ,and he did a great job pulling a bunch of my pooch's loose and infected teeth. Since the procedure I really think he feels like a million bucks. Pros: Great doctors and staff. They are generally on time and seem to really care. Cons: Could use a few more parking spaces, but there is plenty on the streets nearby more

Good Vet 3/20/2008

These guys are really good. Like everyone, I liked Dr. Berger, but Dr. Yen and Dr. Kisamov are quite good too. Dr. Yen has a very mild bedside manner. I think that he cares very much, but just is more reserved, which may be a cultural difference. They have done a lot for my cat, including emergency surgery, helpful recommendations, regular check-ups, and useful referrals. I would recommend this office to anyone. Pros: Good pet care, Convenient appts available (often same-say), caring staff Cons: Independent prices (more expensive, but worth it) more

Campus Veterinary Clinic 10/19/2007

I have been going to Campus Vet for well over 10 years and, yes I liked Dr. Berger and was shocked when he said he was going to retire, but we all get to do that (someday). I just read an awful review by someone that made me mad and about the new owner Dr. Yen. He is very good with my animals and is very honest with me, he only recommends what is best for my pets. Sometimes I misunderstand him, but I have no problem asking him to repeat what he said. My pets are my life and my love, I trust the entire crew at Campus Veterinary Clinic. One day I made an appointment for my dog and I met the new associate doctor, Dr. Reid. She is very nice and is very caring with my pets needs, glad she is there. I liked Dr. Bela and get to see her once in a while. The hospital is very clean and the staff is so nice to visit, they really care when we walk in the door for our visit. Keep up the good work! Pros: Parking in front is very nice. I like the waiting room, it's very comfortable more

Terrible, Uncaring owner/vet. If you love your pets stay away! 10/19/2007

Only once have I ever been to a vet who cared as little about animals as Dr. Yen, and that was years ago at a dispreputable nationwide chain where I should have expected it. He doesn't bother to even greet the animals or talk soothingly to them and in spite of the valiant attempt by one tech the whole experience felt surprisingly cold and inhuman. I've long had a wonderful vet who, along with his whole staff, absolutely adores animals but last year moved to Berkeley and tried Campus Vet Clinic. I was shocked to find Dr. Yen to be so utterly unsympathetic and cold to my dog. He didn't even bother greeting him or talk soothingly as he did the exam, and while my dog had always been thrilled at the love he got at the other vet (regardless of what they did, even clipping his nails!) he was VERY uncomfortable in Dr. Yen's hands. He is entirely used to strangers petting him and paying attention to him because he is a strikingly odd but friendly looking dog that seems to draw the attention of just about everyone who passes so this says a lot! I brought him to Campus Vet late last year and only thought to write this when searching for a different vet to try. I won't say Dr. Yen is medically incompetent, but when it comes to animal care a passion for their patients' comfort and wellbeing is absolutely essential. A complete lack of empathy and, to be honest, basic human manners as well is unacceptable. Pros: none at all. Cons: Found a HUGE cocroach in exam room - no, I'm not kidding. Only vet to ever scare my dog. No attempt to comfort him, no greeting, petting etc. Pushes unrelated tests more

Care more about money than animals 10/14/2007

I loved Dr. Berger and continued to go after he left-- What a mistake! Dr. Yen has little connection with animals and is always trying to upsell products. Just because they bought a new dental x-ray machine does not mean every patient needs x-rays to help them pay for it! Come on, why would I get a full dental on a 6 month old kitten??? The staff used to be the one benefit of going there, but lately they seem to get an entirely new set of techs monthly. They are very disorganized, losing the samples they took from my animals before the labs were run. Not only did they make me bring my dog back in to take new samples, but they wanted to charge me for another office visit!! \r DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!! more

More interested in MONEY thand ANIMALS 10/14/2007

Pros: ??? Cons: Uncaring owner/main vet, constantly changing staff, very EXPENSIVE more

Not a good vibe 1/20/2007

I went to Campus Vet twice in late 2006 for my 2-month old kitten. I picked them based on online reviews. The experience was slighlty unpleasant for two reasons. First, no one there seemed to like pets - not the doctors, not the nurses, not the receptionists. No one spoke to or about my *adorable* kitten during my visit there. It was very business-like and a but depressing. Second, they seemed to overcharge/oversell services: requiring me to come in more than once for something and get stuck with an additional exam charge I didn't ask for, telling me to bring in a sample and not charging me until a month later, etc. I just went to Berkeley Dog & Cat Hospital and it was a much more pleasant and trustworthy experience. I have a colleague who felt the same way about Campus Vet and switched to another vet, as well. more
