Terrible, Uncaring owner/vet. If you love your pets stay away! 10/19/2007

Only once have I ever been to a vet who cared as little about animals as Dr. Yen, and that was years ago at a dispreputable nationwide chain where I should have expected it. He doesn't bother to even greet the animals or talk soothingly to them and in spite of the valiant attempt by one tech the whole experience felt surprisingly cold and inhuman. I've long had a wonderful vet who, along with his whole staff, absolutely adores animals but last year moved to Berkeley and tried Campus Vet Clinic. I was shocked to find Dr. Yen to be so utterly unsympathetic and cold to my dog. He didn't even bother greeting him or talk soothingly as he did the exam, and while my dog had always been thrilled at the love he got at the other vet (regardless of what they did, even clipping his nails!) he was VERY uncomfortable in Dr. Yen's hands. He is entirely used to strangers petting him and paying attention to him because he is a strikingly odd but friendly looking dog that seems to draw the attention of just about everyone who passes so this says a lot! I brought him to Campus Vet late last year and only thought to write this when searching for a different vet to try. I won't say Dr. Yen is medically incompetent, but when it comes to animal care a passion for their patients' comfort and wellbeing is absolutely essential. A complete lack of empathy and, to be honest, basic human manners as well is unacceptable. Pros: none at all. Cons: Found a HUGE cocroach in exam room - no, I'm not kidding. Only vet to ever scare my dog. No attempt to comfort him, no greeting, petting etc. Pushes unrelated tests more
