Ben Hur Moving & Storage

We scheduled a move with Ben Hur Moving & Storage this weekend. The crew came out and did a great job. Our belongings was well covered with protective blankets. There was very minimal damage done to the apartment. The moving service that was done was beyond what we expected. more

We needed a moving company to help us with a short notice move. I contacted Ben Hur Moving & Storage because there location was close to our office. The foreman called and confirmed the time and location of the move. On the moving day the crew was on time. Our move only took like 3hrs. I will use this Nyc moving service again more

I used this NYC Moving company to help me move to another apartment on the other side of the city. To my surprise they were on time and came with direction to the new location. I can tell that the crew that came was experienced. My furniture was well covered with protective material. The move only took 5hrs. Some of my furniture was unable to fit in the new apartment so I used their storage facility. I was pleased with the service I received. more

I think 1 star is actually too generous, how about negative stars? Friend of ours recommended the company and we requested a specific crew. We were reluctant to go with the company given the many negative reviews but thought that by going with the specific crew we would be ok. We were given a quote for 4 men and specific foreman. Day of the move we got only 3 men and a different foreman with an inexperienced crew. They proceeded to break a few pieces, and more importantly, the move, which was suppose to last only 7-8 hours, took over 13 hours. They also scratched up our walls and could not move one of our furniture pieces into our bedroom. I called customer service only to get phony excuse that 4 men crews are not allowed into 1 truck as it is against the law, and yet I was given an ""illegal"" quote. Was told by one of the movers that promising 4 men and delivering only 3 men is common practice at Ben Hur. Had we known what we would get we would have gone with a different moving company, and I suggest you do the same. Moving companies are generally shady but these guys are just flat out liars. more

Ben-Hur movers did a TERRIBLE JOB with my move: 1) They were 4 hours late! Ben Hur called this crew to the job at the last minute. They had no paperwork or any sort of printed directions to my place (or GPS in the truck). I called the office to complain about the delay and demand some compensation/discount. First I was told ?ok, lets wait for them to get there and then we?ll talk about a discount?; after their arrival it changed to ?let?s wait for them to do the job and then we?ll talk about a discount?. When the job was done, that guy did not want to talk discount, justifying that 4 hours late are to be expected, some times even delays of 2-3 days happen and are normal! Seriously they do business in NYC (finally I got $25 off). 2) Of the 3-person crew, 2 were on their first day in the moving business (with Ben Hur or anyone else). It took them double the amount of time my previous move, with the same amount of stuff, took ? 5 versus 10 (ten!!) hours. Took them forever to wrap the furniture and move boxes that were pre-packed into the truck. They damaged some furniture due to improper protection. Also, after protecting 2 sides of a mattress with blankets, they dragged it all across the floor and out the street on the unprotected side!!! 3) These guys were the size of my 110lbs wife. They were physically incapable of moving the heavy furniture up the stairs without hitting the walls. They did a lot of damage that I was charged for by the building management. 4) Getting a refund for the wall damage was a nightmare. It took almost 2 months to get a check in my hands. It required almost daily calls, and each time I was put on hold for very long periods of time. The person on the phone was professional and polite, but overall, the process was slow and painful, having to call daily. Getting the check was not the end of it. Either due to stupidity/incompetence, or actually on purpose, they added to the name field of the check a descriptive word of the reason for the check (it should be in the memo). This caused the bank to refuse the check. I finally convinced the bank to accept it, as dealing with Ben Hur to reissue the check would have been a nightmare. Save yourself the trouble and use a different moving company for your move. Next time, I will too. more

I paid over 1000.00 to have Ben Hur move the entire contents of my apt from NYC to FL and they stole over SIX thousand dollars worth of clothing. None of my boxes were missing...someone at Ben Hur had gone through my things, stealing my clothes, such as my Brooks Brothers shirts, my vintage Hermes scarf, my Trina Turk dress, ETC. I have never been robbed like this in my life. I have moved many times, and luckily always had honest movers. My luck ran out with Ben Hur. I have reported them to the police, the State Attorney General's Office, and the BBB. Ben Hur has been a nightmare to deal with. They have hung up on me, and have put me on hold when I've tried to contact them. If Ben Hur could steal from me, I assure you they are stealing from other people as well. I'll bet the people who have written positive reviews are either employees of friends/family members of Ben Hur. Ben Hur is filled with greedy thieves. Of course I am upset, you would be too if you paid over a grand to have your stuff moved, only to discover that a ton of your stuff was missing. Best bet is to move your stuff yourself. If you must hire movers, get insurance, and DON'T USE BEN HUR. Pros: Nothing postive, they are thieves! Cons: Stole my things more

Ben Hur Moving guys were cheerful and positive despite the obstacles they were up against, I prefer to move with them in the future because they good friends with my family, The service was first-rate from start to finish. This Company has a lot of values and I like the fact that they are really good workers. more

This is the second time we are using Ben-Hur Moving. My wife and I were very satisfied with the service. The movers were excellent. They came on time and did what it took to get the move done. They cleared a path in the snow and were very careful and efficient. They made the two delivery stops as requested and the price quoted was the price I paid. I am very meticulous about my furniture so when the movers showed up and wrapped my furniture very well and were not in a rush, I could not have been more happy. The service was excellent and I tipped them well for their extra care and patience. Best move and I have gone through 5 moves in 12 years and this has been hands down the best experience. I called these guys after trying to negotiate rates with other moving companies and found Ben Hur on Citysearch. 123NYCNYC does not know what he is talking about. He is probably someone from another moving company too. Anyway, moving to my girlfriends was going to be the biggest hassle of my life, until it was over before I finished packing my clothes. These guys did such an unbelievable job I barely remember moving. That is how it should be. Smooth, fast, and easy. That's what they are. Thanks Ben Hur!!!
