SHAME ON BAYSIDE KENNELS 1/6/2012

Shame on Bayside Kennels - had been taking my dog there for grooming. Never again. The groomer badly skinned my dog under both of his eyes - he then was diagnosed with conjunctivitis which drained into the irritated areas causing his skin under the eyes to become sore, reddened and inflamed. They talked me out of seeing my vet by telling me that if the vet at Bayside agreed that the grooming contributed to this issue, I would not have to pay. Well no surprise - he said he couldn't say one way or another so I was charged for his services. What I have now been told is that the vet owns Bayside Kennels. What a set up. They blew me off by saying - we're sorry. Will NEVER use them again. By the way - not the first time the groomer skinned my pet but never this bad. If you love your pet - don't use this facility. The vet protected his groomer and they took me for a financial ride. And by the way - the vet never gave me any medication for infection or pain - only eye drops. No concern about my pet at all. Great Experience! 1/2/2012

We recently added two "fur kids" to our family and they boarded over Christmas while we visited family up north. I had never boarded a pet before and was apprehensive about leaving them behind. The staff quickly put my worried mind at ease and both my goldendoodle puppies took to them immediately, like they'd known them forever! The facility was just as clean as it had been a couple weeks earlier when I took a tour and the check in area smells like the yummy candles they sell. (So good I bought 2 candles for home.) I was able to have haircuts done on them before picking them up and they look fabulous!! Will be using Bayside for boarding AND grooming from now on! Pros: null Cons: null more

Won't take my "kids" elsewhere! 11/30/2011

I am a strong believer that dogs are family, and I only want the best for mine. All 3 of my dogs get SO excited as soon as we pull up to the building and bark their heads off wanting to get back to the kennel area. Sometimes I wonder if they even miss me! The lobby always smells clean and my dogs come home tired and happy. When I start my new job with longer hours I will likely start using their dog daycare too. :D Pros: null Cons: null more

SO happy I found this place! 11/29/2011

I recently had to leave town due to a family emergency and I can honestly say Bayside Kennels was a lifesaver! They were able to take in my two dogs and cat on a moment's notice and although it was my first visit I felt at ease leaving my pet's there. My cat is diabetic and my Golden Retriever has mobility issues which require medication that they administered at no charge. They are attached to a vet clinic that is available for emergencies, or in my case, vaccines that need to be boostered during boarding. The kennel area and cat room were both very tidy and smelled clean. When I picked up my pets I was pleased to see that my old Golden had been provided with comforters and mats for his comfort. I cannot say how much I appreciate the compassionate care my pets received and I am relieved to know I have worry free accommodations for my pets when I go on my planned vacation in a couple months. more

GROSS GROSS GROSS 2/20/2011

This place was so disgusting and dirty, although the staff is very nice and helpful. I left my dogs here and when I asked to see the cage they were staying in, I almost cried. It was dirty and no bed just a nasty towel on the floor and a nasty bowl. Too many dogs in one place so I could'nt even hear myself talk to the tech. My poor dogs were shaking so bad which is something I have never seen before. Trust me this place is gross, also my sister left her Shiba Inu for a night and when she picked him up the poor dog has a scratched up nose and a sprained leg. more

I could not be happier with Bayside Kennels! The staff is excellent. They have went over and beyhod to ensure my dog Cupcake is well taken care of while she is at Doggie Day Care. more

I can't imagine going anywhere else. Thanks to the my veterinarian who referred me to Bayside Kennels two years ago (since they do not offer boarding), I now having a loving place my pet actually wants to go to. I am certain if you visited their place, you'd feel the same way. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my pet. Oh, and if you are worried about some of the bad reviews people have posted, my advice is CHECK BAYSIDE KENNELS OUT FOR YOURSELF. I think you will find that some of those people have obviously either never boarded or aren't completely accurate. (And, for the person who said their pet didn't even recognize its family after it left, then obviously you weren't that memorable and you pet probably misses it's warm hearted kennel people). more

VERY UNHAPPY !! 12/30/2010

I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS PLACE , I USED THEM FOR THE FIRST TIME OVER THE XMAS HOLIDAYS , I PICKED HER UP AND NOTICED SHE HAD LOST ABOUT 10 LBS. AND WAS NOT HER HAPPY SELF ! SHE CAME HOME AND DRANK A BOWL OF WATER AND THEN WANTED ANOTHER , SHE ATE LIKE SHE HAD NEVER BEFORE AND THEN WENT AND LAID DOWN , USUALLY SHE IS VERY HAPPY AND LOVES TO BE WITH OUR KIDS , SHE DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE THEM . SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE HAD A HORRIBLE TIME THERE AND ACTS LIKE IT TOO ! TODAY IS THE SECOND DAY SHE IS HOME AND SHE WON'T GET OUT OF BED ! I AM VERY UPSET WITH THIS KENNEL ! I WILL NEVER DO THS AGAIN ! I WOULD HAVE CALLED THE KENNEL ABOUT IT , BUT THOUGHT "FOR WHAT ' THEY PROBOBLY WOULDN'T TELL ME WHAT HAPPEND ANYWAY , I DID CALL ABOUT HER WHEN SHE WAS THERE AND THEY TOLD ME" OH YES SHE IS FINE EATING AND IS VERY SWEET !" Great grooming! 12/13/2010

I have used Bayside Kennels Groomers for my Scottish Terrier for over three years. I have never been dissatisfied with her cut. They have easy drop off and call as soon as she is finished. Their prices are reasonable and the staff friendly. I also kennel Pepper there when needed and have never been dissatisfied with their service. more

FABULOUS PLACE FOR PETS AND OWNERS ! 10/18/2010

My English Cocker Spaniel has been goomed, boarded and attends "doggie day care" at Bayside Kennels and she Loves it! When I tell her I'm taking the to "play-play" for the day, she goes crazy to get to the garage and get in the car. When we arrive, she pulls me to the door of the kennel and runs into the waiting arms of her daycare "teacher" for that day. Everyone loves her and I have had a wonderful relationship with each staff member. It is truly a great place for both of us. more

Great and Happy Kennel 10/13/2010

We've boarded our big, healthy Golden Golden at Bayside Kennels on numerous occasions (twice in the last month!) Our Golden Retriever loves it and so do we. As soon as we walk in our dog is excited to be there. He's greeted warmly by all staff as are we. When we pick him up he's happy and beautifully groomed (when we ask for the option of grooming.) As with other Golden Retrievers, our dog has a tendency to lose hair ("Hot Spots") when upset or nervous. We've never had that problem with him here (as we have with other kennels) When we pick him up he's a super happy dog. We highly recommend it and so does our Golden! more

Well Worth the Visit 4/20/2010

With a couple of mixed reviews, I'm certainly glad I decided to tour the place and see for myself! On kind of a short notice, they staff kindly offered me a tour and booked our cocker for a 5 night stay and a haircut (I have a groomer, but for the convenience). I was impressed that the place looked exactly like the website, didn't smell like a kennel, and was much bigger than it appears, and the dogs can see other dogs from their own run. Since my dog loves to play with other dogs, I elected to shedule daycare during boarding at a price that could not beat! My dog did not have that flu shot and they allowed me to have it done at check in with their vet, so that was convenient. They even provided me a brochure with a recap on the prices, as well as, answers to some of my questions. The staff had my dog ready early Saturday morning, even with her haircut. I think along with a new boarding facility, I think I have found a new groomer too! I definately recommend Bayside Kennels and will continue to take my dog there! Very Disappointed 3/16/2010

I have a golden retriever who is a very sweet and loving dog. I used this kennel 2 times before, just for an overnight stay. The most recent time I took her, I left her there for three days and was horrified by what I saw. I labeled and separated her food and asked them to feed her that. I asked them if it would be possible to give her a rawhide per day and two toys for her to play with. I also gave her 2 blankets for her cage. When I came to pick her up, 1 of the blankets was soaking wet as was her favorite toy. I asked why and they told me that they were in the play area and one of the other dogs must have peed on them. WHY were they in the play area?? They were her toys for her cage. Also, they only gave her one of the bags of food I prepared for her. I don't know what they fed her but she has had diarreah the past 2 days. She came home and was shaking, had dirt all over her face, and has not been herself since being there. Would not recommend. more

Bayside is a great place to kennel your dog or cat. I had to use them in a storm and they took very good care of my pet. They offer around the clock care. more

Deeply saddened by the boarding care received. 1/16/2009

My husband & I had to leave the state for several weeks because we were going to Texas to adopt a baby. Before we left the house, we had cleaned the house and car from top to bottom so it would be in tip top shape for our new family member. We called several boarding facilities and decided to use this facility because of the excellent reviews as well as being recommended by a local pet store. The faculty were very nice and we felt comfortable leaving our two cats in their care for almost 4 weeks. more

Pets Had a Wonderful Experience 11/7/2008

Ok, I'm not sure what some other people saw, but my pets love this place. And, from what I hear, alot has changed over the past 3 months. Change made me skeptical but I am glad I chose Bayside Kennels because I will never go anywhere else. The place was clean, smelled clean, and the floors in the kennel are new. The staff was friendly and helpful. And, no one has ever groomed my dog as well as Judy groomed her. They were even able to get my dogs vaccines updated while she was there. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND BAYSIDE KENNELS. Pros: Price, Ammenities, Grooming Cons: can't think of one more

You should see the New Changes..Especially with the new Manager 10/8/2008

I have to say, I am pleasantly happy with Bayside Kennels. They have gone through some remarkable new renovations such as beautiful new kennel floors and really cool beds in each run. Not to mention, unlike some establishments, each run is indoor/outdoor. They have recently updated the lobby as well, and it has made a difference. The staff is very friendly and show a true passion for animals. This place has come far under it's recent new management. Congrats! Pros: Indoor/Outdoor Run, Affordable Rates, Quality Cons: none! more

Wouldn't go anywhere else! 5/18/2008

I have a dog and a cat and have tried a couple different boarding facilites and I love this place! I don't worry about leaving my animals there because I know the staff will take good care of them. They are always so friendly and helpful (and so is the vet next door). I tell everyone I know about this place. Pros: Friendly staff, not stuck in a cage Cons: Not enough Sunday hours more

Best Kennel in Tidewater 1/15/2008

I have used this kennel for over 10 years and would not take my dogs anywhere else. They truely care for the animals and it shows. My dogs run to the door to get in. The staff is great. They make me feel comfortable leaving them in their care. I travel alot and to know that I have a place like this to leave my furry children takes a big burden off of me. I have used other kennels in the area before I found Bayside and none of them come close to this place. If you are looking for a place where you know your animals will be taken care of, this is the place to go. Pros: wonderful staff, great location Cons: more sunday hours more
