Kind hearted means well, but knowledge/critical thinking, and availability/bed side manners are horrendous. 6/19/2007

This Dr. works with many elderly patients at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica. He misdiagnosed my mother after she had a fall. Prescribed medicines that did not work since he believed her complaints were unfounded. The nursing staff following his cues then also adopted this behavior towards her culminating in the worse care a patient, who is suffering 9 level (1-10) pain, could receive. The Dr. dismissed my mother's pain complaints as wanting attention (this the head nurse disclosed to me) and continued to sneak in lesser medicines for her pain, thinking she would not notice. When the pain came back, the Dr. Khan was slow to react as well as the nursing staff, taking upwards of five to seven hours to administer the correct prescription and dosage. After hours of verbal fighting with the Dr. and two more wrong precritpions due to a lack of attention to detail, my mother received enough medication to subside the pain to make a flight back to her home in Sacramento. Ten days later now, her Dr. in Sacramento took a regular x-ray and found her back to be broken. An appointment later today will tell us if she will need surgery. Pros: agreeable at times, easy to speak with Cons: lack of knowledge, nonchalant care, is on site about 2 hours a day will see patient once per day more
