Zena's Day Spa

I scheduled a midweek manicure and pedicure here for an early afternoon. I arrived on time, but had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seen. I was not impressed with the salon itself...it was cramped and did not seem very clean. The manicurist was very nice, but she blew on my toenails and fingernails to dry them...gross! The mani/pedi themselves were bad...uneven cuticles, and they are chipping and peeling after less than a week. Although the staff was courteous, I am spending my mani/pedi money elsewhere! I've been to Zena's a few times now. I feel that I have finally found an amazing stylist. Lisa cuts and colors my hair and she does a fantastic job. It's also so convenient because Lisa gives student discounts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Definitely comes in handy when you are in college and not working yet. I've been to a few places around Baltimore for brazilian waxing, and Zena's is one of the better places. The waxer at Zena's was great--she was quick, relatively painless, and clean. She wasn't quite as thorough as other waxing I've had done, but overall, it was a good experience. I have gone back to her, and will continue to do so. more

The review I read here about a pushy Zena, must have been referring to the owner of Zina's in Canton. Zena's Spa and Salon on Charles St. is only one level and the massage therapist, Jenn, is incredible. The massage is always designed specifically for her client, rather than following a protocal for each. Meaning, if you would prefer the whole hour to be concentrated on your upper body she will do so, but always ties the rest of the body in with compressions. She seems to intuitively hone in on areas of tension and stress and I always leave feeling like a new person. more

I went in to Zena's for a tour of the facility since I live down the street. Unfortunately, I was trapped by the owner to get a massage right away, due the pressure I gave in and got a massage that ended up lasting for 30 minutes instead of an hour, because I was not satisfied with the therapist. When I got down stairs I was forced to pay the full price, thus I would never recommend that place to anyone for anything. I have been getting massages on a regular basis for about 16 years (on a weekly or bi weekly basis), on occassions try different therapists, unfortunaely that was the worst experience I have ever encountered. more

I was dissappointed after reading several positive reviews. The manicurist provided sub-par service. She did not pay attention to cuticles and the nail polish came off within two days. more

I had some waxing done there and the waxer was just fantastic. I was very nervous before going in, but she really made me feel at ease. I'll go there again next time I need to wax. Pros: excellent waxers, clean environment Cons: crowded waiting area more

I loved this place. It was actually fun and relaxing to have my hair highlighted. I have been to some expensive salons but this is by far the best hair experience I have had. The color is beautiful and exactly what I wanted! Pros: Relaxing, Attentive staff, Beautiful Color more

I went to Zena's because it was convenient to my work, and looked appealing from the outside. However, I was very disappointed by the service and also by the hairstyle I received. First, the appointment started 20 minutes late-and I received no apology for that. Then, the stylist was aggressive when handling my hair..pulling, trying to comb out knots, etc. When I asked her to be more careful, she said I ""must be tenderheaded."" Perhaps I am, but I have never had a problem before. Lastly, she did a very poor job dying my hair. The very expensive ""top quality"" dye came out in just 2 months, and the portion of my hair that she lightened was fried. After all that, she charged me $95, and had the audacity to ask why I didn't tip!? I will NEVER go back to this place, and I advise everyone to stay away!! First, the pedicure wasn't even done as much as a vietnamese place would have. The lady left out cleaning of the toes and my heels was still rough after all that. And this isn't my first time going to a salon to get a pedicure done. I figure since their name was mentioned so many times that I should try it, what a disappointment!!! And appointments are useless since they don't start on time or even apologize for the delay! For this money, go somewhere outside of the city where you don't have to pay parking on top of service plus tips. Cons: Expensive, Parking Fee more

Wow! You can imagine my pleasure in finding a spa,which offers expert services and first class attention in a beautifully appointed salon. The owner, Zena, sets the tone in treating each client with expert care and consideration. Whether you are a man or a woman, you leave the salon feeling pampered and beautiful.
