I have to say... 6/12/2010

Despite all the negative publicity about this place, I would have to say the contrary. Our construction dragged on for close to 2 years, and the last bit of installation that needed to be done was the fireplace that we bought from tubmakers. My contractor was working on several projects simultaneously and toward the end, he was not on site as much as we would have wanted him to be. The subcontractors seemed at a loss by then, and a few times, had attempted to intall parts only to realize it was not going to ""fit"". We took it back to the shop and much to our surprise, the response we got from Dan and/or Ivan was ""no problem, we'll exchange it"" and so they did. This happened 3-4 times during the course of the year. Dan even went to the extent of delivering the parts to our house in San Francisco since he knew we had gone back and forth to Berkeley, and our house was en route to his way home anyway. Finally, the fireplace is now in place and looks beautiful!\r Kuddos to these guys - Dan and Ivan. You deserve a break! Pros: very accommodating Cons: so far none more

Worst Sales Experience Ever 4/25/2008

This was the worst near sales experience of my life. I had heard of horrible sales people but never encountered one until Dan Waitz, Sales Manager at Tubmakers. My husband and I wandered in to check out hottubs as we were thinking about installing one in our background. Dan talked to us and was reasonably nice and informative. We wanted to get an estimate on the whole cost including the installation but he told us that the contractor could only come out if put down a $500 deposit. Dan assured us that there were no conditions and we could cancel at any time and get the money back and that there was no hurry. So I put down $500 on a Saturday. On Monday I called the contractor to come out for an estimate. He told me he would prefer not to make an appointment but that he would come by the same week and would just call in the evening when he was in the area. When he still had not called on Friday, I felt that this was potentially another unreliable contractor that we would not want to depend on for an expensive hot tub job and possible repairs afterwards. I called Tubmakers to ask for a refund. The office told me that only Dan Waitz could authorize the refund. All along I had a bad feeling about the money I had put down, and believe me it came true when Dan Waitz called me. At first he tried to convince me to stay with the project, and that he would call the contractor etc etc. I stayed ed firm and told him that for now I wanted the refund. When he realized that Ii would stay firm he insulted me over and over again. He told me that I could never come back to Tubmakers, that if I could not pay the $500, how could I have paid for the hottub, that I had never been serious and on and on - it was unbelievable. I could not believe how he was talking to me and insulting me. I am glad I asked for the refund because no professional would ever treat a customer like that even if she changes her mind.\r \r \r more
