Star Fleet Yachts: Lober, Tom

I got a Groupon for a Happy Hour cruise for 2. Thought it would be a fun date idea. Well after I bought it I found out they only do two Happy Hour cruises a month, and they are in the middle of the week. So that kind of limits things. Anyway, I made it work and booked the cruise 2 days before the date. They told me that they have a 24 hour cancellation policy. NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. Period. Ok. What am I going to do, say no? So Murphy's Law, the day of the cruise, my son gets sick, to the point where there is no possible way I can leave him with someone else. I call Star Fleet around noon to give them a heads-up and hope that I can reschedule it for the next happy hour cruise. The person I talked to said she would ask and get back to me. Well, I never got a call back, and when I call I can't get an answer. So the moral of the story is....make sure you are 100% positive you are absolutely going to make it to the cruise, or you lose all your money. I was hoping they would use good customer service (do you want a repeat customer or not?) and let me go on the next one. The icing on the cake, a few days later, I get an email asking me to post a review on here about my cruise experience (that never happened) to get $15 off my next cruise! LOL!!! Well here you go, you can keep the $15. more

For the most part it was okay. They had a buffet style dinner, which I was disappointed at. I was expecting to have my food served. The person they had doing the music entertaining did not know other genres of music, it felt like I had to listen to ""bluegrass"" for the entire two hour duration of the trip. Needless to say I was ready to jump off the back of the boat after 45 minutes. I would definetly do another cruise, just not with Star Fleet. Sorry guys! First impression means a lot to me and I was not impressed especially for the price I paid. more

Look out they will price gouge you for an event. I called for a quote today - spoke to Lewis and they priced me at $89 per person plus $750 for a DJ - WHEN in fact their website says $59 per person (for quantity of 101-149) and that includes the DJ. How sad - they lost a deal and now this will be posted anywhere I can post it. Don't trust this company and read the website to to compare what they are charging you! more

My beautiful wife and I attended the Pajama Party Cruise on February 11, 2012. We boarded the Star Gazer at 11pm and set out for a two hour cruise that was nothing short of Awesome. Our waitress was named Maria and was very attentive as I was drinking Bud Light and my wife was drinking champagne cocktails (which were complimentary). We sat at the long tables downstairs at first and this gave us a chance to meet and chat with some of the other couples at our table. We sat across from a couple who we chatted with (Haynes) and took some picture with as well, they were really nice folks. The food was great...although we would have liked to have had some chocolate dipped Strawberries included though. The DJ was really good, he played a good mix of music and kept the dance floor full (sometimes too full), but we had a great time and never once realized how late it really was (neither of us are really late night people). We did think ahead and book a room at the Holiday Inn Express just across the road from StarFleet which made it all the more enjoyable. By the time we pulled back alongside the dock we were both very impressed with the entire event. All of the staff were very polite and attentive. We WILL book again with StarFleet & recomend them to our friends. Thanks for a great Valentines present to my beautiful wife of 15 years !!!! more

Wow! Valentine's with Star Fleet was absolutely fabulous! We arrived a few minutes before boarding the ship and the yachts were beautiful! Lit up and sparkling in the water, we could hardly wait to get on! The whole evening was like being in a private five star restaurant (although a few strangers seemed to be sharing the experience). The food was magnificent and Meg, our server, was delightful! All of the staff was very pleasant, and we would both do this again in a heartbeat! Thank you, Star Fleet, for a magical Valentine's! more

Most of the employees were really nice, our waiter however, was a bit pussy when it came to ordering drinks, we were going to start a tab and also tip her generously but seems to me she was trying to move on to maybe a more potential tipping guest. Little did she know. Anyway, besides that the food was good. Although, the boat ran out of meat and had to meet up with another boat to give us more. Yeah. That meat was cold. The dining experience started in the rear and ended in the front with table one, basically, we were jipped. Desert was fine and so was the cheap wine. Went on the top deck to enjoy the musician, one man band. He was great. Sounds good. Overall, it went well. I'd go again. more

Friendliest staff ever witnessed during a night out! ""Roxie"" our entertainment director for the evening was fantastic. She drew in the crowd for the murder mystery and all had a wonderful time. Mark, our server, kept our drinks full and our plates cleaned off the table. Very relaxing and enjoyable evening that ended before we were ready! Will definately do this again. more

My wife and I went on the ""Romantic Dining"" cruise last Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary and the whole evening was great. Relatively easy to find, plenty of parking, friendly people. We had a table at the front of the room on the top deck of the ship (which had been enclosed with clear plastic ""windows"" to keep out the cold) and were treated very well by the staff. The buffet food was good (chicken, fish, rice, veggies, etc) and the ""one-man-band"" (Danny Osterwisch) was amazing to watch (and sounded good too). He played a variety of music...mostly from the 80's-current, and had a system where he could record himself and loop it back, thus allowing himself to provide backup vocals, harmonies, etc...fascinating. Great musician and performer. At one point one of the other guests went on ""stage"" and performed a song with him, and was also a great entertainer. The ship (they have several, but we were on the ""Star Gazer"") was quite nice. I can't say enough about how fun the evening was and how friendly the staff was, etc. I absolutely recommend anyone to go on one of these cruises. (Also, I noticed on the downstairs deck there was another type of event going on...maybe the ""Murder Mystery"" cruise?...dunno, but they had costumes and props and seemed to be having a raucous good time.) more

I really thought that this experience was not worth the money. It was expensive. We were 5 so I paid around $350+ only to get loud noise of the engine, terrible music all the time and very bad food. The DJ was playing the theme of Pirates of the Caribbean ALL the time and it was annoying. We had to pay money for beads to throw on the people on the boardwalk. You would think that they'd give you the beads for free.... Also alcohols were NOT free. The food was the most disappointing thing. Small buffet with: Raw rice, beef [only thing that tasted good], crab cake, corn and bread. The rice was so undercooked that one of the guests commented on it. Real disappointment. The Murder Mystery was fine and the entertainer was okay. Bottom line, if I want to experience a Mystery Dinner, I will do it on land..NEVER on a cruise. They charge more money just for the boat. Don't do it..save your money! more

A small group of us got together to celebrate New Year 2012 in style. The whole experience was wonderful. The ship staff were attentive and professional. The music was great. The fireworks were exciting and the whole atmosphere aboard the ship was lively. However, food options were limited. There was no fish advertised at the time of booking and no vegetarian menu items served although they were requested at the time of booking. Overall, it was a positive experience. more

Every time we are out on our boat sailing in Kemah/Galveston Bay we see the Star Fleet Yachts. I've always wanted to go on a cruise and we FINALLY did it on New Year's Eve!!! The music was GREAT!!! The dj played a variety of different music & the dance floor was not too small nor too big, it was just right!!! We cruised on Star Cruise. The food was DELICIOUS and the drinks were nice and cold. Our server (sorry I can't remember her name) was AWESOME, we didn't have to wait a long time for our drinks and she was really nice...the whole crew was nice and had a smile on their face!! We had little party hats and noise makers in lieu of New Year's Eve which made it so much more fun! The dj also recognized anyone who had a birthday, anniversary, or if they were celebrating anything else other than NYE...I thought that was really nice of him:) I'm ready to go on another sail in the near future!!! more

We decided to get married on one of the Star Fleets boats since my son got married on the Star Crusier 12 years ago and we had a great time. Again it was a fantastic experience. The whole crew, including the office personnel were very, very cordial. From the moment we stepped on the boat at the start of the cruise to returning back to the dock it was fantastic. The Captain ,Nate (who also married us) Wes, Lisa and sorry cannot remember the very nice yound lady who served drinks and the DJ (recommend by Star Fleet) was awesome. . The food was great, exactly what we ordered and very nicely set up. I thought that it was extra sweet that Captain Nate, allowed my new daughter -in-law to captain the boat around Clear Lake for a bit. All in all it was a great experience and I would totally recommend it for anyone who is looking for a fantastic time. more

I took the Sunday morning brunch cruise last week and a great time. From the moment we stepped on the boat at the start of the cruise to returning back to the dock it was fantastic. Our entertainer Danny was awesome, the staff passed around a cover song list that we could pick from that had everything from Jimmy Buffet, Adele and Adam Sandler. I have to say the song he sang as we returned to the dock about the ship we were on was probably my favorite. Danny also took the time to sing Happy Birthday for my brother and the other gentleman celebrating his birthday. The food was great too - we had Prime Rib, Chicken Oscar, and Eggs Benedict plus a plethora of sides. When we first sat down, the staff greeted with a chocolate covered strawberry. While my party were all adults I have to say I thought that it was extra sweet that Captain Nate, swore in one of the younger girls that was on the cruise and allowed her to captain the boat around Clear Lake for a bit. All in all it was a great experience and I would totally recommend it for anyone who is looking for something to break the norm on a Sunday Brunch! more

I took my girlfriend for the murder mystery cruise for her birthday. What a fantastic experiance! She was choosen to act in the production of the evening. The staff was very sweet, got us anything we wanted. When we stepped outside the christmas light on the lake were so beautiful to see at night. We are already planning our next trip! more

My wife and I and ten good friends had an unforgettable dinner cruise to celebrate her birthday on the smallest Star Fleet yacht, the Lake Limo, which seats up to 12. We were served by Captain Dave, who was friendly, gently humorous, and unflappable in taking care of our special needs. We were seated at small tables that encouraged conversation among the entire group, and the mood on a chilly evening was warm, intimate, sentimental and at times hilarious. As a bonus, the food was delicious, but the gentle and personal atmosphere was the unique ingredient for a delightful evening. more

We have used the Star Fleet for the last 3 years for our office Holiday party. The first year we did the Mystery Dinner and the last two hears we had Casino Night. The meals have been excellent each year, the crew top notch and the party has been a success each year! more

We went on the Star Gazer Romantic Dinner Cruise for Our 20th Anniversary. My husband and I invited two other couples so there were six of us. We were really looking forward to a special night especially because of the special occasion, but it was DEFINITELY NOT what we got. The service was somewhat lacking, every time we needed a drink the waiter was no where to be seen and if he was it took him forever to come back with the drinks. Therefore my husband went to the bar himself on the first deck of the boat (down stairs) and brought drinks back himself. The food was also lacking, we thought we would get a five star meal for the price of $69.00 each plus tax but that is not what we got. We were the last to be able to get up and our serve ourselves and when we did we had to wait for the buffet to be refreshed. The buffet was awful and it consisted of dried out over cooked stuffed chicken breast and very fatty over cooked steak. The sides consisted of very bland potatoes, green beans and couscous. There was salad as well but it was very limp. The only thing that was even a little tasty was the pasta salad. You would think for the price they could have served some sort of seafood instead of the slop we got. It is sad that we had such an experience on our special occasion. I had lots of friends ask me to let them know how the experience was because they had thought of going on the cruise, but I am warning them to stay as far away from this cruise as possible, which is a shame. The only reason I have given one star is because you were required to rate; otherwise I would not have even given that. more

My husband and I went with 2 couples and all 6 of us were seated on 2 small tables. Our waiter was never around we had to get our drinks at the bar (downstairs). We were the last to be able to serve our self and we had to wait for the buffet to be refreshed. The food consisted of chicken and a horrible meat with alot of fat. The only good item was the salad. For $70 a person you would expect more of selection especially seafood. Will never go back and will not recommend it to anyone. more

My husband and I went on the Romantic dinner cruise to celebrate our anniversary. From the moment we stepped on board our seats were the highlight of the trip. The jazz music added a special complement to the evening, he was great! The food was excellent even though it was buffet style. We met very nice people and even witnessed a marriage proposal. Our waitress was very attentive and super nice. We would absolutely recommend the cruise to everyone and can't wait for another special occassion to go again. more
