Best

What I like most about these cupcakes is the buttery flavor of the moist cake, and of course the generous slathering of frosting. \r \r They are not inexpensive by any means, ...

Worst

I gotta say, these cupcakes are not special! at $3 and up, they are ALL about the hype. They're good, sure, but so are the red velvet cupcakes from Ralph's. Not worth a long line ...

Absolutely delicious! 8/2/2006

I love cupcakes -- eating them, baking them, trying out new cupcake places. Sprinkles cupcakes are excellent, much better than anything would find at the famous NYC cupcakeries that started the trend (Magnolia Bakery, the Cupcake Cafe -- two places that are seriously overrated). Sprinkles cupcakes do *not* taste like like something you'd bake from a box (and I seriously question the palate of anyone who thinks they do). These cupcakes are fresh and clearly made from high quality ingredients. I also love the cupcakes from Leda's Bake Shop in the Valley. Pros: Terrific cupcakes! Cons: Sometimes they sell out of your favorite flavors more

Totally worth it! 8/1/2006

I never thought I would pay 3.50 EACH for a cupcake until I tasted Sprinkles'. Their flavors are out of this world and they're so big one is more than enough for each person. I plan on getting a few dozen for my birthday celebration! more

Overrated, Dry Mom's Homemade-Type Cupcakes 7/27/2006

This is an example of a concept that launched on publicity, not reality. Too bad their publicist budget was higher than their food-making related budget. I've seen this shop raved about on Oprah and entertainment TV shows. They've had celebs photographed by the paparazzi buying cupcakes. The stories always brag about their use of ingredients such as real vanilla, imported chocolate, etc. Which in truth are used by most decent bakeries. I stopped while shopping in Beverly Hills and was totally diappointed. The cupcakes are very homely and old-fashioned. The recipes must have come from the Fanny Farmer or Betty Crocker cookbooks. The cupcakes taste exactly like the ones my mom baked for school bake sales! They're nothing special. Plus, they were dry, either stale or overbaked. For $3.25 per cupcake, they should be much better than that. I was expecting a pastry-chef quality product. For the price of one cupcake, you can bake an entire batch of your own at home, and they will be just as good, or better, than what the Sprinkles people came up with. Cupcake hype! Pros: Just like the ones mom made Cons: Just like the ones mom made, but dry and overpriced more

Disappointed 7/21/2006

I went to this bakery with my husband today. We got 2 cupcakes. The chocolate one was Ok,,,but the strawberry one was really bad. It didn't taste like strawberry at all. Its frosting was tasteless and too sweet, sponge part had funny tasete (bananaish & vanillaish???). I think I can bake better cupcakes.\r I prefer ""Unforgettabel Cake"" on Ventura. Cons: taste, quality more

Over Rated.... 7/13/2006

We waited in a long line outside to only be disappointed by having no choice of flavors when we finally got served. If you're looking for REALLY expensive cupcakes then this is the place for you. None of us could understand what all the hype was about. I enjoyed the ones I baked myself from Betty Crocker so much better. more

Thank Oprah for these things 7/4/2006

Sprinkles dishes out the best cupcakes I've ever had, even better than mom's homemade ones from way back when. No matter the chosen cupcake variation (and there are many!), these little desserts hold just the right level of moistness and deliver just enough sweetness to not be too rich. I've been four of five times and have tried about three-fourths the flavors and haven't regretted any of my choices. Looking for a more savory alternative to Krispy Kreme? Look no further. Pros: Variety Cons: Expensive more

DT's review of best cupcakes 7/2/2006

They didnt make the cupcake that I wanted that day, banana filled with cr (Mon&Thurs). So instead, I bought dark chocolate (everyday). Im gonna give it some style points for not having exotically named cupcakes. Chocolate is named milk chocolate or dark chocolate, and banana is named, well, banana. Maybe its a reflection of our times that we want to return to simpler times. \r This $3.25 cupcake is pricey partly because of quality. The cupcake is good, standard, sturdy, and traditional. I would rate it a 7.\r The icing is so substantial that you have to have the right support underneath. A traditional cupcake would have a millimeter or twos worth of icing (which i would have preferred). This one is three-quarters of an inch to a full inch of icing!! The icing is so rich that its the equivalent of eating 8 Sees candies on top of a mini-cake. Oprah, dang girl, this is so not on your diet plan!! I think I need to call the FDA for truth-in-advertising. I would imagine you need a certain icing to cupcake ratio to still be able to call it a cupcake because its really icing (=candy) that just happens to have a little bit of cake underneath it. As for flavor, I give it a 9. \r The ingredients are high quality, like sweet cr butter, Callebaut chocolate, and Nielsen-Massey pure Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla. They are topped with imported sprinkles from France, hence the name. The sprinkles were a 10.\r For an additional 75 cents, you can get an extra shot of icing. Huh? I cant imagine the icing being any more than it was. I think I saw a red phone hotline on the wall for eaters anonymous.\r The help is very courteous and polite. The bakery was very clean. Their site is user friendly. Phone support is professional and helpful. Overall, my rating is a 9.5. \r DT\r myspace datingtipsformen Pros: throwback to simpler times/fifties Cons: no place to sit, pricey. more

Buttery Goodness 6/22/2006

These cupcakes are very tasty. If you don't have to bake or you really are craving a cupcake and are in the area then I say go for it. If you are low carb you can get a shot of frosting instead. Sprinkles is not cheap. It's a nice place to go for a treat, variety, and something special.\r \r The candy circles on top taste like uncooked pasta, they are just so you can tell them apart and for decoration. Skip those and enjoy the cupcake. Pros: cupcakes more

really fun! 6/22/2006

The line was winding down the street, happy people walking out with boxes of their favorite cupcakes. The concept is fun, the cupcakes are good, and I loved the experience! It's like celebrating - a special occasion! Take your children - they will love the expectation and the excitement of it all! more

Just like any other cupcake 6/7/2006

I had a red velvet and vanilla frosted cupcake from Sprinkles, and to be quite honest, I've made cupcakes from a box mix that were just as good. I think there is too much hype revolving around Sprinkles. By no means was I blown away by the cupcake I had. I do agree with the others that the icing is super-sweet, almost too much so. Save yourself time and money, and make your own. Pros: cute shop Cons: expensive , parking, not blown away more

GREAT CUPCAKES 5/19/2006

Perhaps those negative reviewers got a bad batch or maybe they came expecting a bit more than a cupcake could ever provide. These are absolutely some of the best cupcakes we have ever had. We stood in line for about 15 minutes on a Saturday afternoon, which is really not all that bad considering how many people were there. There's a great assortment of original flavors that you won't find anywhere else. The cupcakes were actually quite moist and rich, and the frosting has just the right amount of sweetness. I am surprised to see how displeased some of the reviewers are. I have only gone once, so I can't say if the bakery is consistent everyday, but I had some great cupcakes and I recommend checking it out. Also if you want a larger batch, call way ahead of time and you can probably hop the line. Pros: great cupcakes Cons: the wait, price more

Not worth your time 5/17/2006

I am a person who loves cupcakes, so I was excited when I heard about this place. When I walked in there was a long line and when I got up to order, they did not have good service. I sat down at their bar to eat and the cupcakes lacked flavor and their icing was too sweet. The candy on the top of my cupcake was hard and did not taste like anything. I asked for a cup of water and the lady behind the counter gave me attitude. I would not go to Sprinkles again because of the lack of flavor in their cupcakes along with their bad service. For being a store that is solely cupcakes, they need to revamp their recipes to make it better. Pros: Presentation Cons: parking, tasteless, expensive more

Overpriced Cupcakes 5/16/2006

My friends were raving about Sprinkles Red Velvet cupcakes and being a Southerner I could not wait to try them. I stood in line and got a Red Velvet and Vanilla cupcake. I was shocked when I took a bite to discover they were not moist and no flavor. I thought I might be a bit harsh since I have grown up with great red velvet cupcakes. So I took a bite of the vanilla and again no flavor. I can make a batch of cupcakes for the same price they charge for one. Ralphs and Vons has better cakes than this place and for a lot less. Pros: cute place Cons: expensive, awful more

What is all the hype about? 4/10/2006

I have to agree with the person who said, Their cupcakes are more like ones that are created from a box mix. Very true! I do have to say that they were moist but they lack in flavor and the frosting was way too sweet! Believe me I have a sweet tooth but this was too sweet. If you are around there try them but dont go out of your way, its not worth it. Pros: Cute, moist Cons: Overpriced, long line, lack flavor more

Magnolia WHO??? 2/27/2006

I have been to the famed ""Magnolia bakery"" in New York and I can tell you this place BLOWS the doors off of that one. I went with friends this weekend and yes we waited in line for at least 30 minutes TOPS the lined moved quickly for the amount of people coming out with boxes but OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!! it was more than worth it. The flavors are creative the frosting is smooth, creamy delicious the cake is fluffy, moist and yes even 2 days later they are still divine! the shop is small so not conducive for staying to enjoy and a box of 12 will run you $36.00! well just break the piggy bank because these cupcakes are WORTH IT!! As for presentation they come in wonderful pink boxes with signature stickers to keep box closed perfect as a gift for valentines day or easter. Respectfully Reviewed Pros: Delicious, Presentation, friendly service Cons: parking, line, pricey *but worth it more

AMAZING!!! 2/4/2006

I have tried cupcakes everywhere, and after coming to Sprinkles, I can never eat a non-Sprinkles cupcake ever again! Every single flavor is delicious and creative, and they melt in your mouth...not to mention that they look so cute! I am a student, but I consider the cost of these cupcakes a necessity. Anyone who doesn't think Sprinkles cupcakes are the best is missing a few taste buds. They are better than the cupcakes from Magnolia in NYC! Pros: DELICIOUS, YUMMY, FANTASTIC Cons: FABULOUS! more

Dry and way overpriced! 12/12/2005

I was so excited to try this place & my boyfriend & I waited in line for 15 minutes, only to get two overpriced cupcakes that were so dry that we had to buy 2 cartons of milk each to get them down! We were both very disappointed & won't go back! We had much better cupcakes at Mrs. Beasley's!! more

Dry 11/30/2005

Ok...I am a Red Velvet cupcake/cake queen! The Red Velvet cupcake I had at Sprinkles was aweful. It was dry and heavy like led! But let me tell you guys...if you love cupcakes there is this new line called ""Cupcakes In Bloom"" and they are sold at Pistachio Grill on Wilshire. I am not some competitor or anything, just a person who loves cupcakes! They are SOOOO GOOD! It's a cupcake line that revolves around flowers. The best are Rose/Vanilla and Violet/Chocolate. Go get them!!! Seriously...you won't be sorry! more

if heaven were a cupcake I'd die right now 9/28/2005

on a scale of one to ten, I give the Sprinkles cupcakes a 25. The best cupcakes I have ever had in my life are from here. Hands down, full stop. Anyone with a sweet tooth needs to experience this fantastic bakery. The peanut butter with chocolate frosting with chocolate sprinkles is my favorite. They even have a beautiful website. I consider myself blessed to be walking distance to this cupcake heaven. I've just tasted a little piece of God. Pros: taste, display, choice Cons: price more

Chocolate High Heaven 8/30/2005

Mmmmmm.... mmmmmmmm.... yummy, yummy, yummy chocolate cupcakes. Yea, they're pricey. But you'd pay more than that for dessert at any restaurant. These cupcakes are perfection. Someone brought some to the office and you would have thought she'd given us each a diamond ring. You could hear ooh's and aah's all around. The cupcakes are perfectly proportoned and works of art. But I dare you to eat more than one! Pros: Delicious, Delicious, Delicious Cons: Pricey more
