This business does not care about its customers. I brought my cleaning here for a year, spending almost $30 a week. I always asked for no crease in my pants, but last month they put a deep crease in a pair of navy cotton pants. They tried to clean them again, but a deep white mark remained where the crease had been pressed. They had ruined my pants. After 20 minutes of negotiating with the owner, he agreed to give me a $65 credit for the cost of the pants. When I came in the next week, however, he had changed his mind: He remembered giving me the credit but had since decided that it was not their fault after all. I reminded him of our agreement and the fact that I had been giving them steady business for over a year. He shrugged his shoulders, clearly not concerned. Dry cleaning is the biggest scam! It is right up there with haircuts and auto work (two service that typically come with a higher price tag for women). It makes me crazy. Now that rant is off my chest....I like Sparkle Cleaner in Ballard (two locations). They consistently do quality work and their prices are not a moving target. Of course they do not publish rates (no dry cleaner except Four Seasons and Bargs does that) so I tend to ask at drop off, make sure they put the quote in writing and take a copy of the ticket with me. We have sent them our (easy) alterations with 100% success. I did have one occasion when I needed them to redo a cleaning (clearly my dressed got missed) and they did it happily. more

Possessing an ability to get rid of stains which has clearly helped them stay in business, they even have their name in neon lights. Family-owned (or at the least, feeling family-owned), this is a reliable establishment with many repeat customers. more
