Best

Ashley worked well with the issue of my arm mobility and range of motion. She also gave me some good recommendations how to limit my pain.

Worst

I was excited for my first time to go to a spa. I saw the pricings for the spa and they are prices that I can't argue with. I got a facial and an ""aromatherapy"" massage. When I ...

Not a SPA 8/21/2007

I took my boyfriend there for his birthday to get the Men's Spa Special, which in retrospect is too pricy. He did not enjoy it, the message therapist was too gentle and his manicure looked horrific, they didn't even cut his cuticles or cut off dead skin. I could've done this for him myself. The ""Spa"" looks like a big restroom, and I basically wasted my money. The room he was in was so tiny, there was no room for movement. The entrance was so unattractive, I wish I had drove to location and checked it out before I took him there. Pros: somewhat nice staff Cons: Tiny, unattractive more

Bad Reaction 8/19/2007

I went there recently for an open house and they gave me a makeover treatment. Everthing was looking good until the girl put some ""blush"" on my cheeks. All of a sudden my face was burning hot and I look in the miror and my cheeks started to get red and sting and puff up like I'd been stung by a jelly fish. Pros: Good massage therapist, although I heard she left. Cons: Bad service. Don't know what their doing. Overpriced. more

Horrible Customer Service 8/17/2007

you mention Spa Newbury as one of the best spas out there but in reality from my own experience I think that the customer service in that place could be much more improved. Pros: They do a good job Cons: WOrst customer service I have recieved in a spa more

The service and quality of a chop-shop for ""real"" salon prices!! 8/8/2007

This place was TERRIBLE!! The girl that did my facial was lovely... too bad she's at this place. Check out the cancellation policy -- 48 HOURS (twice what the better salons require). Also, they give you the HARD sell on products, and the lady at the desk actually called AND emailed me to tell me it was rude that I did not buy products!! Plus, the specials on their website are a sham... once you get there, you find out that you have to pay full price because the specials are only actually (fine print!) for a certain set of existing clients! But, you cannot even cancel at that point, because they will charge you!! Small space, not that well maintained, and terrible management. Too bad for the estheticians... i hope bella sante picks them all up!! more

Best massage ever 8/1/2007

I dropped into spa newbury with no appointment late in the afternoon, after being told there were no openings at my original spa destination. They took me in right away, even though they were in the middle of an event, and I got the most amazing deep tissue massage. I rarely get massages and spa treatments for myself, so I was a little aprehensive walking in, but I left feeling AWESOME. Tina, (the woman who took care of me) was so skilled, and found areas of tension that I had been living with forever, some that I didn't realize had been there until she located them. The staff took a few minutes to warm up, (they seemed a little distracted and distant when I walked in) but I think that may have been a side effect of all the action gonig on with the event they were holding. All in all, a positive experience. Pros: Very skilled staff, beautiful space, and they take last minute walk in appointments. Cons: A little on the expesive side, and the staff seemed distracted. more

Tremendous Experience 6/24/2007

I just attended a party at Spa Newbury last Thursday eve. They were celebrating their expansion and grand reopening. I went with a couple of girlfriends of mine who are clients and love this place. That is how we got the invitation. These people really know how to put on a party and treat their clients. Their facility is gorgeous. I had a foot soak in one of their new pedicure chairs that floats up and down and a chair massage. Both were out of this world. Can't wait to be back! With friends! Pros: Nice facility. Friendly Staff. Great service. Clean and well organized. more

Spa Newbury is the BEST of All Times 6/24/2007

I am not from the area and I was still treated like I was the most important person in town. These girls really know how to roll out the red carpet. I booked my day at the spa because my hotel (that I am staying at until I get my apartment) would not allow an early check-in. I had several hours to burn without sleep so what better way to spend Boston's housing shortage than at a spa? I had the works and everything from the massage to my nails to the facial and all of their skin care products were tremendous. I was served tea and snacks and pampered all throughout my treatments. They have a very large spa menu but I stuck with the more traditional services. I had three different staff members and all of them were equally fantastic. These girls were a great savior in a real time of need. Thank you very much for such a beautiful and needed day. Pros: Service, Attention to Detail, Accomodations, Location, Staff more

Best Spa Experience I ever Had 4/15/2007

We find new spas with spa week. Spa Newbury was new this year so we tried it. GREAT FIND. They had more services than anyone else and they also extended those specials for the whole month. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and excellent at their specialities. They had something like 4 or 5 skin care lines to choose from. They effortlessly went overboad. We left with loads of samples and free stuff. Our services were incredible. My friends and I argued about who had the best therapist - it was that good. Perfect place for girly girl parties. Extremely accomodating. Pros: Staff, Environment, Freebies, It was all Great Cons: None - Absolute Zero - Zippo more

Choices Galore 2/25/2007

We spent $150 plus tip per person and enjoyed three quite different spa services which lasted more than two hours in total. Spa manicure was almost an hour, half hour back neck and shoulder massage made my back feel incredible and a 30 minute express facial which was done in a massage chair and only prolonged the effects and results from the massage I Had just had from the therapist. We tried to upgrade to a full spa facial but they did not have the availability - they were sold out. I will definitely be back for the full spa version. I wish the express facial was longer but have to say - I got what I paid for if not more. Tina and Kristen were especially helpful and the owner was actually there/present and had all of our services nicely coordinated and running smoothly. If you have short money but want a nice or good variety spa experience you can get it here. Enjoyable A+++ Pros: Variety, Less Expensive, Discounted Spa Package Deals Cons: Wish I Had booked longer services more

The Best Spa Deals on the East Coast - Why is there not more of theses? 2/25/2007

We booked some of Spa Newbury's discounted packages. We got exactly what we scheduled and paid for and more. The skin care therapist knew exactly what she was doing. My facial massage was long, luxurious and to die for. It was the longest and most enjoyable manicure and pedicure I have ever had. I went back during the week and was one of the only ones there. I was showered with attention, snacks, bonuses and treats. I wish we had better and more spas like this on the East Coast. It seems like you have to go here or to California to get an enjoyable spa experience. Better weekend availability would be best. Pros: service menu, discounted packages, staff, services themself more

FABULOUS SERVICES & STAFF 2/25/2007

This place IS the best. They have the best skin care, the best massages, the best manicures and the best pedicures. My pedicure was an hour. My manicure was almost an hour. AND I got a full 60 minute massage and hour long facial. Exactly what I paid for. Quite refreshing. My girlfriends and I love to spa but often come up disappointed when we go to Newbury Street. They made us to happy and were so accomodating - I'm surprised we were even able to get in or have appointments. They are very very busy on Saturdays. When we go back it will definitely be during the week. Pros: Incredible Service, Staff, Choices Cons: Very Very Busy more

Awful customer service! 2/20/2007

There are a ton of places in Back Bay, but I had heard through word of mouth that Spa Newbury offers a treatment that all the other spas do not. Boy, do they know they have a monopoly on their product!!! I tried booking an appointment several times, but each instance that I called, I was connected to an incredibly rude receptionist who seemed offended that I had even asked for an appointment! I would say that I know how to be polite over the phone as I have spent the last 10 years as a customer service liason at several different organizations. Until they improve their service, you will undoubtedly be left with a similar bad taste in your mouth and I would not recommend the experience to anyone. Pros: Unique treatment Cons: Rude booking staff more
