Lots of Pros and Lots of Cons 12/13/2012

Pros: It turns out they are knowledgeable and competent, they had enough staff, they were well-supplied, they shared technological diagnostic information, they were clean enough, they provided excellent (expensive) large animal transportation (stretcher/pick-up truck) navigating stairs easily, they respected their own "pecking order", they all got along, they pace their work, they have a family-style waiting room, and the office manager is a little gentler than she looks. They were good about advising of and consulting about progressive fees. They tried to keep expenses down. They really are open 24/7. They let me pre-pay in part the night before to make things easier the next day. The paperwork was short.\r \r Cons: No bedside manner. Long lines. The customer restroom was dirty and out of tissue and towels when I used it at night. Horrible communications. They claim to do "free" exams, but I saw no exam. I am very UNHAPPY with this clinic! The Establishment is dirty and unsafe. I have pictures to prove! They had used bloody goz in with the new/clean goz! Used needles and used thermometer covers in with new/clean ones! Blood splatters on the wall! The garbage was a box with a plastic shopping bag! The ""VET"" that saw us had his name taped over someone elses and that was over the coat that had another name on it! Only one vet had certifications on the wall and they barely spoke English! They wanted $600 just to do an x-ray! THEY FAILED TO MENTION THE DIME SIZE HOLE IN MY POOR CAT! My 3 and 7 year old kids spotted them, how could a vet miss that? I am doing everything in my power to contact the right authorities! more

They saved my baby 9/11/2012

I am a little late in writing this review, but figured I should share my story since I had just referred a friend to the clinic. I have a 3lb Chihuahua, named Lili, who is absolutely my world. On December 29, 2010, I noticed something was wrong with her. She seemed really lethargic and there were bubbles coming out of her mouth and she had no desire to do anything but lay down and look sad. Lili was an inside dog and rarely associated with any other animals so I didn't know what to think, except that something wasn't right. I had to work, but I had my father take her in for me knowing the seriousness of her condition. Luckily I reacted so quickly because she wouldn't have made it another night if I hadn't.\r \r As soon as I got off work i rushed down to the clinic, the office staff did everything they could to ease my mind, explain to me what they planned on doing, the cost of the care, walked through all of the tests that they had performed on her, they even brought her out to cuddle wi more

My dog got hit by car: Dr G saved him 7/29/2012

When my dog got hit by car, i was sure it will be catastrophic for me. I am unemployed and surviving on my savings. when i explained my situation to Dr Goraya, he did the bone surgery in a fraction of cost what other emergency hospital was quoting to me. If this hospital was not here, I am sure because of limited funds, i would have to put my dog to sleep. God bless you !! more

Wonderful vet. 7/9/2012

These vets are wonderful. I had 2 separate emergencies with one of my dogs. The first was a broken tooth and infection that they treated, removing the tooth. The second was my dog eating one of his toys, which I didn't realize at the time, and I took him in because he was vomiting. They gave him emergency surgery practically on the spot, explained everything to me including showing me the x-rays of his stomach and the extensive damage the toy had caused. They treated him extremely well, and even though they weren't 100% sure he would recover, he recovered perfectly. They operated on him for hours and the price was extremely fair. I also love that you don't need an appointment, and I can drop in when I need to. more

My only vet 4/17/2012

I have been taking my furry family members here since I moved to Seattle. I have gotten them all fixed and even had to take my cats to get declawed here. They sent home all the instuctions that we were going to need and all Meds they were to have. I have even had to make a lae night trip when my dog had a problem with her eye at 9pm. I called them in a panic and they told me to bring her right in, they fixed the problem and she came home that night. I trust the staff with all my needs for my pets. The prices are very affordible and the staff has always addressed any questions that I have asked promptly. Will stay with them as long as I have 4 legged family members Pros: null Cons: null more

Awesome! 4/14/2012

One of my friends refered me to south seattle Vet and i have never been more satisfied with a vet. I trust their pricing and the girls on the office are great! they got me in and took care of my golden retreiver puppy that day and i picked him up that night ready to go. I will always use this vet office and reccomend them to anyone who needs anything for there pet from frontline to E-surgery!! Thank you guys for what you do! more

Would not recommend 3/13/2012

2nd time we have had a bad experience, there will not be a 3rd. 1st time Vet left stitches in after "removing them". This time cat had UTI & they wanted to keep her overnight & do X-Rays for $450. Ended up leaving her for 3 hours to do urinalysis & blood draw. Went back & when we called for results, they didn't know that they had done urinalysis, they didn't know that they had given her antibiotics both a shot & take home. Wanted us to bring her back for those. Still charged $254. Could not understand Vet at all. Will never go back! more

Awesome Vet! 2/1/2012

I am incredibly impressed! The staff was extremely friendly. The veterinarian was very knowledgable. He explained every possible procedure that could be done with my dogs' skin condition. When I came back to pick up Coco, he explained to me, in detail, what all the test results meant and follow-up care! Do not be put off by the appearance of the building! They are re-building from the ground up this year! I can't wait to see the new office! I did have to wait awhile for my appointment, as there was many patients/owners waiting, but that only showed me that they must be worth the wait!! And... they were!! A+++ more

This hospital runs under par in every conceivable sense of the word. From the way the patients are handled and "treated" to the schedules the nurses are working. From the doctors desire for money to the uncleanliness of the facility itself. Pros: null Cons: null more

Amazing commitment to animals 7/19/2011

South Seattle Veterinary Hospital provides excellent care and service for furry kids. They provided special care with never ending patience to answer my questions and late night phone calls as I struggled with my late retired greyhound coming to the end of his life. I trust them explicitly to provide options and honest information. It is only because their services are reasonably priced that I can provide adequate and comprehensive care for my foster dogs and cats, as well as my forever home younger greyhound. Thanks for making it possible for all critters to get the care they deserve. Also, I work full-time during the day so the clinic hours are amazing. Thanks again for your commitment working day and night - it is much appreciated! more

Couldn't recommend them highly enough 3/6/2011

I can not say enough good about South Seattle Veterinary Hospital! The staff is passionate about their work, they love animals, and they are very friendly! They have been able to diagnose problems that other veterinary clinics haven't and their prices are not just a less money, but a whole lot less money than any other vets we have ever been too! The vets and medical staff take their time and explore options with you, and you leave feeling confident for the best outcome for your pets. This place is such a goldmine that we are willing to travel 40 miles to have our pets seen there. I don't believe there is a better veterinary clinic or hospital anywhere! Sue from Sumner more

Change! 2/27/2011

My first impression wasn't so great I felt the doctors gave me the simplest treatmeant possible. However after returning at doctors request I returned skeptical but walking in the doctor took Care of me problem. Also the girl up front I believe her name tag said Courtney was bright with a smile and made me laugh. She was a breath of fresh air compared to my morning visit during the week! I will difinently return. more

i highly recommend this vet,amazing prices ,open long hours 7 days a wk,wondergul staff.drgoraya is excellent surgeon he fixed my dog "dukes" both knee joints. as my dog cannot walk because he broke both cruciate ligament ,so dr goraya did sugery on both legs at same time ,duke was runnning around in 1wk,i am amazed how good he operated , i higly recommend for any bone or soft tissue surgery more

Best Vet Ever!! 11/17/2010

Dr. G and the rest of the staff were life savers. My husband and I were worried sick about our kitty who had been throwing up everything she ate. They got us in immediately without an appointment, and they were available for calls 24 hrs/day. When we had dropped her off for the night, I was in tears, and the office manager had the presence of mind and compassion to tell me that I could call and check up on her as often as I wanted. I trust this vet... 11/2/2010

I have been using this vet for about 6 months. In this time, my baby has had a tumor surgically removed, a leg injury fixed and is currently being treated for a heart condition that every other vet we have ever encountered missed. They are so caring. When I call for updates, they are so considerate and either update me at the time or the doc calls me back in a timely manner. If I want to visit my dog while she is "in the hospital", I can just stop in and they will get her. They took me back and showed me the x-rays and patiently answered all of my questions about treatment, cost and diagnosis. I love my dog soooo much more than words can express and I trust SSVH with her care. They serve a lot of people and pets and whenever I walk in the door to buy food, Lisa knows who I am, whether my dog is with me or not. The costs are reasonable and I love the long hours they are available. That is how I found them, I needed a vet that was open on a Sunday. Wow, I am so glad I found them... more

Superior Surgeon 9/27/2010

Board Certified in India, Dr. Goraya is absolutely the highest quality veterinary surgeon in the Puget Sound region. He supports rescuers, who in turn help build his business. His prices are fair and the quality is so outstanding, it defies words. I was recruited into his practice when he purchased it from Dr. Passmore. He immediately went to King County Animal Control where I volunteer (now King County Regional Animal Services) and left behind a pack of price and business cards. He started with rescuers and treated us well. I recommend his practice to all of my adoptive families. Rescuers would be sunk without him, we've never had it so good. more
