Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

I called Roto-Rooter this morning about a clogged drain. They said someone would be out between 8 and 8:30. Danny arrived about 5 minutes before 8. He was very professional, courteous and efficient in completing the repairs. I will definitely ask for him on any future calls for plumbing needs. more

I had a copper pipe that feeds an outside faucet burst in my crawl space. Called Roto-Rooter in Colorado Springs....they were ready to send someone out right away - but, I opted to schedule an appointment for the next morning. I was the first appointment of the day :) The plumber Danny showed up on-time, was very friendly, and got to work quickly. My issue was fixed fast quick and in a hurry!!! June 23, 2011. After a meeting on the UCCS campus I returned home to find our sewer line clogged up with dirty water rising in the bathtubs. This was a bit after noon. I called Roto Rooter and Craig arrived before 2:45 p.m. and was able to root out the tree roots that had grown in and plugged up the sewer pipe between the clean out pipe and the house. He also ran a 100 ft clean out towards the city sewer line. He was done in less than an hour and provided us with a six month guarantee. Great service! more

I am so very happy with the prompt and professional service we received from Danny Cook! We ran into a broken valve and were getting ready to leave town. Had a problem with clogged pipes on Saturday, 4/30/2011 and called Roto-Rooter. The dispatcher scheduled a service call and kept me informed throughout the day when the plumber was to arrive. The plumber, Michael, in Colorado Springs identified both of my issues and proceeded to solve the problems in a timely manner. He was very thorough in finding the problem, explaining what needed to be done and executing the service. He was neat respectful and cleaned up after himself. more

I was running the dishwasher and for some reason went into the laundry room in the basement (thank the Lord) when I saw all this yuk pushing out of the drainage hole on the floor. Had no idea why as I had done several loads of was an hour or so earlier, and everything was fine. Immediately called Roto-Rooter and Jason came out, right at the scheduled time. He explained what was going on and where he thought the blockage was..he was right! Not only was he knowledgeable, professional and well experienced, but he cleared my laundry room drain blockage in no time! Also, cleaned up any mess he made which really impressed me. I wrote this review on 3/16/11 and find it very interesting that it is now missing! I cannot say for certain if my experience was due to sheer incompetence or pure greed, but neither are favorable. I will never call on Roto-Rooter again in my life, and I will share my experience with anybody who will hear it. We own a 50's home and have two very large trees around our sewer line. We were negligent that we waited until we had a slight drainage problem before contacting a plumber to clear our tree roots out of our sewer lines. I called Roto-Rooter on 3/14/11, and Technician #1 arrived that afternoon to clear out our sewer lines. He tried for about an hour, explained we had a ""serious"" blockage and called out Technician #2 to run a camera through the line. While every other plumbing service runs a camera to check their work (in one fee, one service), apparently Roto-Rooter, though working blindly, is confident in their work and demands another $150 for you to have them check their own work... Technician #2 arrived within the hour. He did not try to clear the lines. He only ran the camera (and never provided the DVD) and of course could not see past the blockage that Technician #1 failed to clear. He absolutely was the largest waste of $150 I have ever spent. So, while he could not see anything, and though he failed to try to clear the lines himself, Technician #2 recommended we do a full sewer line replacement immediately, to be started tonight. To the tune of $6000! It was quite terrifying, but I sent him on his way. I know absolutely NOTHING about sewer lines, but I know I would never pay thousands without a second opinion. I called a local plumbing service the very next morning (3/15/11). They cleared the line that afternoon within an hour. Also, before the plumber started his work, he pointed out a nice crack in our interior sewer pipe that TWO Roto-Rooter technicians failed to notice. It was indeed dripping water and needed to be replaced. For $600, the local plumbing service cleared 3 ft of tree roots, provided proof of such and replaced 12 ft of cast iron pipe with PVC. For $500, Roto-Rooter provided absolutely nothing but worry and likely a crack in our pipe. I have since confirmed their technicians work on commission. Factor in a so-called emergency, and I fear how many people they've convinced to have sewer lines unnecessarily replaced for thousands so one guy can make a commission. Homeowner's insurance does not cover these costs. It just makes me sick to think about! more

I live in Colorado Springs and had to call a plumber from Roto-Rooter when My washing machine was backing up into my toilet and bathtub. The plumber was here within 30 minutes, assessed the problem and called another plumber for help, he arrived pretty quickly also and they got the whole problem fixed quickly. Even though a pricey unexpected problem can take you by surprise I was very greatful Roto-Rooter was very professional and even remembered my senior citizen discount! Thanks guys \r more

We needed our sewer line snaked and called on Roto-Rooter. A tech came out, snaked it, claimed he could not get all the way through the line because of some ""tar-like"" blockage binding his blades, and called another ""department"" to come and run a camera through. (This is now pushing $500.) The camera man could not see past the blockage and recommended we replace the sewer line. Let me emphasize the point that he could not see the actual problem and his solution was just to entirely replace it. The cost of his ""solution"" was $6000. We called another company who snaked it, ran a camera through it, handed me the DVD and said the sewer lines were, quote, immaculate. There was no tar-like substance. Just some roots. The cost for his visit: $245. Also, the pipe in our crawlspace has a crack (I verified) and they'll be back out to replace it tomorrow for about $250. The first techs didn't even notice this. Come on!! I am calling Roto-Rooter and demanding a refund. Please, please please get a second opinion. I fear how many people have been suckered in to VERY expensive projects because their technicians very clearly work on commission AND very clearly lack the know-how that others grasp so easily. more

I could have overlooked that Dan was a chatty-cathy. He spent at least 25% of the time he was at my house talking instead of working. He couldn't get the drain cleared but managed to turn a slow drain into a completely blocked drain. What really burned me up was him presenting me with a gallon of enzymes for $50. Never gave me the option of refusal. It just showed up on the final invoice. He said it was part of the quoted price. but, there it was on the invoice as a separate product. I'm sure that is a high profit item for him. Should have called Parkey's. more
