DO NOT GET FOOLED AND STAY AWAY 4/18/2012

I would give these people ZERO stars if that was only an option. Please, stay away from their apartments if you care for your money and mental well-being. Don't get fooled by price, location or these excellent reviews, which are most likely written by the landlords themselves. Unless you are not in a desperate living situation, do not come here because you will regret it. The apartment was no cleaned when I moved in: FILTHY everything, from stove, inside of fridge to bathroom. Insects and mice (possibly rats) are here like at their own home, and they won't care about it, trust me. I moved out few months ago, but am considering to fill out some kind of report on this place at the Department of Health because that was absolutely GROSS. more

I miss it so much! 2/16/2012

Hands down the best place I have ever lived. No, it's not luxury, but the area is safe and in the heart of the city. The marathon runners ran outside my window...I was like 3 blocks from the river to go running, walked to the art museum and trader joes was my neighbor. Amazing. In my mid 20s and sick of living with roommates, this was the only place I could find that was affordable. Such a steal. The landlords, unlike what a lot of these posts say, are NOT weird...they're NICE. Something that is probably weird to most Philadelphians. They are so understanding and sweet and professional. Also the maintenance staff never took longer that 4 hours to address a problem. So sad I had to leave this place (career). There were many times I found myself thinking ""I could probably live here forever"". more

Robin Apartments Are so Wonderful 12/28/2010

Robin Apartments monthly rent has been an affordable apartment for me for over 9 years. The landlords are available and helpful. Their maintenance department is efficient and thorough especially in an emergency. The mail is safe, accessible and convenient within the building itself. The pavements are shoveled during the snow and icy weahter. The laundry room operates from morning till 8:00 p.m. Any trash can be easily placed on the street level for collection. Robins Apartments is also accessible to all main arteries of transportation in Philadelphia and its surrounding areas. There is also an emergency stand by employee for any problems during the off peak hours and weekends. The building is well run and well maintained. I recommend Robins Apartments. Check it out for yourselves with a simple appointment! more

WORST SERVICE WHEN OFFICE IS CLOSED 12/5/2010

THEIR OFFICE IS CLOSED ON WEEKENDS. I ALWAYS PAY MY RENT ON TIME SINCE I MOVED IN 2 YEARS AGO, BUT I CALLED THE EMERGENCY MANAGER ON FRIDAY NIGHT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO HEAT ALL DAY SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. IT WAS 36 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT AND THE GUY WAS RUDE AND SAID ""THIS IS NOT AN EMERGENCY SO THERE'S NOTHING I COULD DO"". THEY TURNED THE HEAT ON FOR TWO MINUTES (YES, THAT'S TWO MINUTES) DURING THE ENTIRE WEEKEND. HEATING IS SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RENT, BUT THEY RECENTLY TURNED IT OFF. THEY PREY ON THE WEAK, AND THERE'S A LOT OF FAVORISM GOING ON HERE. THEY'RE REALLY QUICK TO SUE YOU FOR SOMETHING AND THEY MAKE YOU PAY THEIR ATTORNEY FEES. more

Best Landloards Ever!! 8/5/2010

My husband and I have rented from Robin's for 7 years and are leaving because we are moving out of state otherwise we would be happy to stay much longer. They have been wonderful landlords. They always accept any packages we receive and call to let us know they have arrived. Any time we've had a problem it was fixed quickly and done well. When our washer's motor quit they brought in a brand new one. The price is amazing for the location (20th and Chestnut) and otherwise, especially considering the unit comes with a washer and dryer. We are so close to everything, we walk everywhere and if we can't walk public transportation is easily accessible. We have seen mice from time to time but not often and in 7 years I have seen only two roaches. Seriously! only two in 7 years! They are so friendly, helpful and always available. I tell everyone I know that's looking for an apartment to go to them and everyone I've know who's rented from them had been totally satisfied. We will miss renting from them and should we ever come back to Philly we will contact them first. more

A nice center city apartment at a fantastic price. 8/5/2010

I had rented 2 different apartments from these landlords for about half a decade and was very happy with both selections. My first apartment was a studio. It was very compact but the price, for center city, was absolutely fantastic. Since I was one of the many apartments not directly facing chestnut, I had no problem at all with noise. Though it was not terribly spacious, it was comfortable and again, the price blew my friends away for center city. And if excercise is your thing, numerous gyms as well as bars, shops, food and a vibrant nightlife is literally at your doorstep. Like an evening walk? Rittenhouse square is just a couple blocks away! And it is within short walking distance to Trader Joes, one of the best grocery chains in the planet, as far as I'm concerned. - When I went from student to newly minted professional, I moved to one of the largest one bedroom apartments I have seen for that price in center city bar none. And since I was already happy with the landlords, it was an easy choice to make. - The price is fantastic, the quality is fine, and if you have any concerns, the landlord is polite, courteous and quick to address your issues. more

Robin apartments 7/25/2010

My landlords at Robin apartments are definitively the best landlords I have ever had. I lived in the apartment for four years and cannot recall a single problem I had (of which there were very few) that was not addressed within hours. The building was extremely well maintained, quiet and in an excellent location. I never saw a single insect in the apartment the whole time I lived there. For being in such good condition the price was really remarkable. All of my friends in center city were amazed by my place! Pros: amazing landlords, great apartments. more

Affordable apartments in Rittenhouse area 7/20/2010

These apartments are very affordable in an otherwise expensive neighborhood. The neighborhood is fun. It's practically oozing with new businesses, great shops, nightlife, oh yeah and homeless people. I found the landlords to be very responsive regarding the few maintenance issues I had, the biggest of which was a rain leak in the roof that was fixed the next weekday. As other reviewers have pointed out there may be roaches. Also the walls are thin and sound travels easily. I was never bothered by the sound. Also there are no elevators and the hallways are narrow. Give them a call at 215-567-1744. Pros: Affordable, Excellent location. Responsive landlord. Cons: Rodents/pests. Low quality floors/walls etc. more

Affordable Apartments in Center City - Highly Recommended! 6/9/2010

I have no complaints about the year I spent living in an apartment managed by Robin Apartments. The landlords are friendly and accessible, the rent is super affordable, and the apartments are clean and safe. The main office accepts packages for tenants of all Robin Apartment buildings, so that is really convenient. I also appreciated the fact that it only cost me a one-time $50 deposit to have my cat in the apartment. Perhaps some of the other reviewers lived in a different building than I did, but I never had any significant issues with noise from other tenants. Sure, the street noise can get loud, but if you live on Chestnut, what else would you expect? Pros: low rent, friendly landlord, pet-friendly, clean apartments more

Slummy, loud and rude 4/27/2010

Please read this before you make up your mind about this company. They seem to have a decent amount of positive reviews, which is inexplicable based on my experience with them. I've rented from them for a while now and as far as I can see the only good thing about Robin's Apts. is their prices. The apartments are cheaply made, poorly maintained and shabby. Their idea of repairs seems to be painting over things. The floors squeak with every step you take, the doors screech. Nothing is quite even. The cabinet in the bathroom looks like it was installed by a blind person. Yucky rust spots in the bathroom. Paint peeling off, especially in the closets. Cheap finishes, cheap crappy blinds that fall off every other time you try to close them. The walls are paper thin, sound insulation is non existent. Relaxing and/or sleeping is a luxury in these apts, not a given. The heat is included in the rent, but controlled by a landlord, and is BARELY sufficient. And worst of all is the landlord. I can only imagine that the reviews here saying good things about him were written by tenants who never had a problem with the apartments or just moved in and are wowed by the low price. Once the ""honeymoon phase"" is over, BEWARE - He treats his tenants like morons, or lies or placates, but don't expect any problems you might have (besides very basic small repairs) to actually be solved. If you question these managing techniques, expect to be yelled at. Also, the neighbors are the weirdest unfriendliest most inconsiderate human beings I've ever had the displeasure of living next to. Unless, it's all you can afford, STAY AWAY. Pros: cheap rent Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE more

If noise bothers you, stay away 3/3/2010

In all fairness it would pretty much impossible to find a cheaper place in Rittenhouse Sq., but keep in mind there is Rittenhouse (charming quiet residential Pine st. for example) and then there is Rittenhouse (ridiculously loud, constantly busy, overrun by the homeless and the weekend drunks Chestnut st.). The apartments themselves are nice and well sized and clean and freshly painted upon move in and with laundry facilities (no storage facilities) on site. The landlord is nice enough and polite and will help you with any minor problems promptly, just don't ask for any help with something more major than say a minor repair or you will encounter some dishonesty and a total lack of flexibility. All in all, decent livable spaces if you have a high noise tolerance. If noise bothers you, this is not a place for you, walls, floors and ceilings are PAPER THIN. You will hear every step, every bump, etc. and it will sound VERY loud. If your neighbors smoke, the smoke will drift into your apartment. If they have a party, you will be kept up. You will also be constantly accosted by the homeless right outside your house. So, yeah, those be the cons. Now, the pros are, as I've said before, the price, the space, good water pressure, adequate (controlled by the landlord, not by you, but free) heat and responsive maintenance and also, Robins Apts. keeps the apt. building clean and accepts packages for you and is flexible with move-in dates. Pros: cheap rent for location, responsive maintenance Cons: paper thin walls, ceilings, NOISE galore more

Unmatched budget apartments 9/24/2009

If you want to save money while enjoying Center City life, you cannot do better than Robin Apartments. My comfortable studio is clean, freshly painted, has three large sunny windows, built-in bookshelves, ceiling fan, and new appliances. The owner has an office in my building and is on-site weekdays until 6:00PM. The numerous maintenance crewmen are very friendly and responsive; I've never waited more than a couple hours for (rare) repairs. Best part: I walk out the front door and enjoy Rittenhouse Sq. Park, restaurants, bookstores, University of PA, and all the pleasures of the best neighborhood (IMO) in Philadelphia. BTW - the rent is unbeatable. Pros: Modern apartments in the heart of Center City Cons: Walk-ups, no elevators, no central air conditioning more

Great landlord 9/11/2009

Mr. Robin and his family were wonderful landlords. When I moved first into the place, they had already cleaned and re-finished the floor. Anytime I had a problem with the apartment (very rare), they responded immediately and quickly fixed the problem. These apartments are also in great locations near Rittenhouse Square. If I ever move back to Philly, I'll definitely rent from Robin Apartments again. They're a hidden gem because they don't have a website, but they are very popular simply through word-of-mouth. Give them a call or visit and they'll help you find the perfect apartment for a great price! Pros: Responsive service more

Great place for center city living 8/7/2009

The landlord is very in tune with what you need. I requested a new fridge and got it the next day...at no cost! Great service. Pros: Best price for apt's in center city more
