Rasputin Music

When I first walked into Rasputin, I was amazed. The amount of music is endless. They have any title you are looking for, and even having clearance sections throughout the store. Once you are in there, you will be in there for hours. The staff is always very friendly, and will help you find what you are looking for. They have some great items, including posters, DVD's, CD's and records. This place is one of a kind, so be sure to check it out when you are in Berkeley! more

Whenever I go to Rasputin, I go straight downstairs to the used section. Here's where Rasputin shines over Amoeba. I mean, they're both independent and huge and have a million records. And I suppose Amoeba might win out with it comes to sheer vastness of product, though unless you're looking for something really obscure, I'm not sure at what point the vastness is lost on me and it becomes more overwhelming than anything. Like I said, I don’t worry so much about all those gazillions of albums upstairs. Because the used section rocks. Everything is really well organized by genre and artist and I always find something that I've been meaning to buy, or even better, something I would have been meaning to buy had I known it existed. more

I have never seen a bigger music store! There are so many types of music to choose from, and they constantly pass out flyers which gives reasonable discounts. For students, this is definitely a cheap place to get music to fill up their ipods. Friendly staff and willing to help those searching for specific items. more

Rasputin Music carries a huge variety and selection of music. Whatever your taste is in music, you'll bound to find something you like at Rasputin Music. The prices may be slightly pricey, but their collection is amazing. The employees are helpful and friendly. They carry new and used CDs, movies, and records. Rasputin Music, located on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley, is a great place to shop for used and new music. They have two floors full of new and used cd's, and they have a large back room filled with DVD's. Their used music prices are fair, and I rated them as "good" because their new music is priced a bit steeply sometimes. They have a helpful staff, and also have computers set up around the store to help you find or special order something if you like. They also let you listen to something before you purchase it, which is rare nowadays. Be sure to get the "Rasputin Card", which will enable you to get a $1-2 discount on their large catalog of used music. more

rasputin is a staple of telegraph hill. if you're ever in the neighberhood, it is a must stop. similar to amoeba, it has anything you could ever dream of. vinyl, cds, tapes, whatever, they got it. new, old, retro music, they got it all. i could spend hours in there just browsing through the used section finding bargains galore. induldge, and take yourself to rasputing, you won't regret it. more

This store is located on Telegraph and is very close by to the UC Berkeley campus. They have lots of different types of music available for listening and purchasing. The service and environment is really friendly and they have go discounts for the students. If you love music of any genre, you'll love Rasputin for it's unique surroundings and cool people. more

When I first heard of Rasputin's, I associated them with music. While they do have an extensive selection of music, they also have clothes (Cal T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) They don't have that much used music (at least when I used to go), but if you are looking for a particular artist, odds are that you'll be able to find them there. more

As a high school history teacher once told me, he knew he was in Berkeley when he looked up and saw a store called "Rasputin's". The real guy might have been creepy, but the music store is awesome (and don't forget to pick up a t-shirt with everyone's favorite hard-to-kill historical figure on it!). Huge selection of used and new CDs, vinyl, videos and more in every genre you can think of. Study hard before you go - the website offers reviews written by the staff, a chance to win tickets to their live shows, and information about the store. Also, buy new CDs, or even sell your old ones, and Rasputin's will give you a voucher to take to your favorite school.
