A music store with DVD rentals! 6/22/2006

Rasputin's makes me a little sad because their cassette collection is down in the basement, all jumbled together. I remember when nobody had even heard of these seee deees that the kids are all talking about these days! But they have a store that just seems to get bigger the longer you're in there - and a nice little annex with DVD rentals and videos for sale. I got some cool exercise videos for a few bucks each, and now I can dance AND do pilates! more

Rasputin Music 3/29/2006

Rasputin Music is by far the best place I've ever been to for finding used CDs and DVDs. It never ceases to amaze me how much I can get there for so little. Now, while the discs have always been in great shape, it's the boxes that can look like they've taken a beating. Not to worry though, if you aren't too put off by it, cause that usually means that if you hunt around you'll find the same title for even cheaper in a more scuffed up box. more

Great place for your music needs. 3/20/2006

This place has a wide selection of music under one roof. It's also a great place to check out those hard-to-find albums, although I've never been able to find those really old Richard Clayderman albums from the '80s. The pricing is comparable to Best Buy and their used CDs section is worth checking out. I tend to spend at least an hour at this store. For fans of metal music, this store does contain a lot of artists and bands. more

huge music selection 8/19/2005

rasputin music store is one of those stores that you just have to go to when you visit the Berkeley campus. the selection is huge, and you can find stuff there that you won't find in a normal music store. great for the music buff and for anyone who just wants to peruse everything that is out there. more

Great selection and a huge store 8/17/2005

This is one of those places you probably want to stop and visit if you're shopping Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley. Rasputin's is one of the larger music stores around, and they have the selection to prove it. The layout feels a lot like a Virgin Megastore, and the prices are average. Where Rasputin really shines is in its selection. They have most of what's available in print for major artists, rather than a few titles by each artist like Borders or Barnes and Noble. Add to that the attitude of having a creepy Russian cleric as their corporate logo, and this makes for a great place to shop. more

Better than Tower, not as good as Amoeba. 8/14/2005

As the title implies, Rasputin Music is a decent place to buy music. Their selection is pretty good and their prices are about average. The used section is smaller and generally more expensive than Amoeba's. But if you live in the South Bay, Amoeba is a lot farther away, so the savings in gas make up for it. I recommend this place as an alternative to Best Buy or Tower. It's no Amoeba, though. more
