I'm not sure - maybe I missed the Lounge part? The bar upon entering is small, kinda cozy. The rest of the place is awfully plain. It might be cool if you're seated next to your d...

Cantonese flavors and execution that 10/11/2012

Cantonese flavors and execution that can't be beat. Don't get lured into ordering the crispy whole fried crab, rather, delve into Peking Duck, Roasted Sea Bass, Seafood Lettuce Cups, and the Fried Pork with Crispy Skin, you can't find another like that, I dare you! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/10/2012

The food is very tasty. I enjoyed their crab specialty and beef dishes. It's better than your average Chinese restaurant. R and G seems like they have come up with different Chinese dishes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. more

Bland Small Portions Tasteless Food Overpriced 12/30/2011

My son forced us here becuase of the Anthony Bourdians review. Let me break it down for you it was terrible not horrible but terible...the Chinese Salad was tastless & bad, the Salmon Avocado spring rolls and the Honey drenched shorts ribs were good other than that the rest of the food was awful. And overpriced for 4 adults and one child we spent over $100.00 dollares ,,,ridiciolus......my son aka (Dancing Bear)needs to trian his palate to be able to appreciate real food., and not be so easyliy swayed by these TV Foodies....after dinner he twitted and tried to convince us it was good...but truth be known it was not, and we would not return, more

HORRIBLECustomer Svc/Possible Illegal Treatment of Employees 5/14/2010

(Part 1 (please read comments)) Unfortunately I cannot give 0 stars but my mother-in-law, husband and I had absolutely the most horrible experience possible tonight (5/14/2010) and will encourage readers to never visit this establishment. Please read about how horrible their customer service is and possibly illegal way they treat their employees (I will confirm with my lawyer and HR friends about the scenario I witnessed to see if legal action needs to be taken against the owners of this place). Pros: Nothing Cons: HORRIBLECustomer Svc/Possible Illegal Treatment of Employees more

Please read about how horrible their customer service is and possibly illegal way they treat their employees (I will confirm with my lawyer and HR friends about the scenario I witnessed to see if legal action needs to be taken against the owners of this place). We had asked the waiter named Benny what is the difference between all the different kinds of sharks fin soup that is served there and he glossed over the general characteristics of each and I expressed which kind it is that I was looking for (the kind that is served at most wedding banquets) because none that he described quite fit what I was looking for and he pointed me to the $15/person cup (there is another kind for $26/cup and 1 more other kind for almost $50/cup). I was fine with that and proceeded to order 3 cups for the 3 of us. It arrived and was not very impressive (seemed watered down) but we just figured "ok, we just won't ever order it here again because it just doesn't taste good." Bill arrives at the end of our meal and we noticed that we were actually charged for the $26/cup kind, so we flagged the server down to inform him that there has been a mistake. Lo and behold they gave us the $26/cup one instead of the $15/cup one we had wanted --- couldn't tell the difference except that the kind we received (the $26/cup one) is extremely watered down and needed a lot of vinegar, salt and pepper to be added to give it any kind of flavor. Horrible Service, Horrible Atmosphere 10/28/2009

I should have known when the hostess seated us. Right behind her our would-be waiter was swatting flies with an electronic tennis racket fly zapper. Everytime he hit one it would zap like a mosqito zapper people have in their back yards. He was flagged over to our table, wiped the fly guts on his pant leg, grabbed his note pad and proceeded to tell us what to order. Which would have been ok if they had brought us our food! 45 minutes into waiting for it, and hungrily watching everyone around us get served, I asked where our order was. No response. 15 minutes later I decided to leave....I was on my lunch break. What a waste of time. NEXT TIME I AM GOING TO WING LUM ON POLK. LESS CROWDED. BEST WON TON SOUP IN THE CITY. MUCH BETTER PRICING. Pros: Watching the Waiters Use the Electronic Flyswatters. Cons: The Dead Flies fall on the tables in the dirty dining room. more

Will Never Eat Here Again Until Shark Fin Soup is Removed 4/19/2009

I was very upset when I found out that Shark Fin Soup was on the menu. I should have got up and left that moment, but I didn't. Regardless, I feel terrible that I didn't leave. After watching the movie SharkWater, I've become very passionate about saving sharks and educating friends about the movie. Thousands of sharks die only for their fins and thrown back into the water to drown. We need sharks in our ecosystem to survive. One very important way is to not order Shark Fin Soup or even better, not support restaurants that have it on the menu. I have written a letter to the restaurant asking them to remove the item from their menu. more

What a disappointment 2/25/2009

I was expecting this restaurant to be something special. Sadly, the service was poor, the dishes were dirty, and there was an uncharacteristic crunch to the rice that didn't belong. I can't be explicit in this review, but trust me it wasn't good. Pros: near where I was staying in San Francisco Cons: not good, not good, not good more

Authentic Chinese style dishes 12/12/2008

The food here is as authentic as it gets in San Francisco. It resembles Chinese home style cooking. I tend to order the same items each time I dine here, that is, fried crab, pan fried ground pork with preserved fish, large bean sprouts, and steamed fished filet with chinese ham. It's always packed. Make sure you make reservations before you go. more

IF YOU LIKE TASTELESS, FRIED, GLOPPY CHICKEN BUTTS, HEAD TO R&G. IT MADE ME SICK -- REALLY!!! 12/4/2008

What the hell was that? I have to tell you that this was one of the WORST experiences in ""Chinese"" dining I have ever had. In fact, I actually had to RUN to the bathroom because I was experiencing explosive ________!!! I think it was related to the fact that EVERYTHING WAS FRIED or drowning in some brown, tasteless sauce or we (a party of 9) didn't even know what the rubbery stuff was on that plate that we never ordered! I've eaten in local Chinese restaurants and in restaurants in China but this was nothing like Chinese food. It was just plain AWFUL and I'd NEVER go back. And get this ... when the restaurant's guests were leaving, the staff started to sit down in the dining room and FEASTED on piles of Dungeness crab and what were apparently the REAL delectables on the menu. Oh, and I truly believe that we caucasians were provided with the American version of the menu -- very little variety, tons of fried stuff, and no ""authentic"" Chinese cuisine. DON'T GO TO R&G!!! Pros: Nice atmosphere, clean bathroom where I could get sick from food Cons: HORRIBLE FOOD. NOT AUTHENTIC. WRONG DISHES SERVED. more
