Jen has been my hair stylist/colorist for many years. I have been a blond, brunette, red head and back to blond. Throughout all of these changes, Jen has made each one my best look. I've been trying for 15 years to grow out a full head of long blue hair. One hair dresser after another has fried my hair over and over again. When I came to Portland 4 years ago my last hair disaster had burned my hair off at the root. I literally had an inch of frazzled hair left. Mel has been doing my hair since. This week we cut off the final frays of my last burning. I am now left with strong healthy long luxurious hair that has grown all way to my shoulder blades and still growing. I saw someone downtown with some really killer hair. I actually went up the the person and asked who did her hair. She gave me Meleni's card. I must say being in the fashion industry myself I can't believe i've never heard of her. Incredible! My hair has never looked or felt better ever! I was referred to Meleni by a co-worker of mine that always has amazing hair. I've tried many salons in Portland and have never met someone so talented. Her skill level is unbeatable and the rest of the staff is quite nice too. I love the atmosphere here. I can't believe how affordable her prices are which makes it nice in these economic times. Scott is amazing. He is talented, casual, and honest about your cut ideas/wants. The salon has a chill vibe, you don't feel ""uncool"" to be there, and he is a true professional. He has good prices, he is relaxed, and has more talent than anyone who has ever cut my hair. I have been to both Hair M and Fada. I have nothing negative to say about either, but I left both of them to go to Propaganda. I have only had experience with Joseph Morris for Cutting/Styling and Content for Coloring. I can't rave enough about them. Joseph has been open and receptive to new ideas and has more than enough brilliant technical skill to add layers to it and really make it stand out. (Don't use my picture to judge him; I have to have conservative haircuts for work) Content can do some of the coolest, most unique colorings and styling's I've seen, but also do some beautiful and elegant work (to hide the grey dontchaknow.) \r Their prices are great, and most of my friends go to them and their hair is way more beautiful than mine. Most everyone at my work, the s.t. coffee shop on the close corner, goes to Propaganda and only Propaganda for haircuts. People, especially women (though they do a great job on the dudes as well), are constantly asking where we get our hair done. Everyone at the salon is super friendly and accommodating. Scott is very patient and always fixes my ""drunk, accidental self-cuts"" with minimal loss of length. He is also great for two other reasons (among many): 1. he pays attention; once you have been going to him for a while he gets to know your personality and pulls off the cut that really is you. 2. you can talk or not talk. No pressure for conversation. I haven't gone anywhere else for 6 years. Thanks guys and gals! more

Meleni is the first hair dresser that I have ever been able to commit to!! Not only does she do a outstanding job with cuts and colors, but the conversations are always entertaining as well. I love and trust what she does with my hair so much I had her do mine and all my bridesmaids hair at my wedding and she really did a wonderful job with all of the different hair types. Everyone felt and looked beautiful and the pictures showed it. I receive numerous compliments on my hair and I never fail to recommend anyone, even strangers to Meleni. Scott Kane is by far the best stylist I've ever had and I'm over 50! I have fine hair and he is the first stylist that has actually made my hair look fuller. He styles my bangs to look like I have more hair also! I'm from a large metropolitan area and went to some of the finest salons. Scott's ability to give you the perfect color and cut for your lifestyle far exceed any salon I've been to before. As does Scott, the entire salon has a very relaxing feel. All the stylists have a great sense of humor along with fantastic skills! I'll never go anywhere else! more

I've got tons of hair. Like, really big hair, and trust me, at times it's not all that great. What's been toughest in the past is to finding someone who knows how to handle it. Well I had my first cut with Scott Kane over 5 years ago, and I've been completely loyal ever since! I've never had a stylist produce results that made me love my hair and feel I can manage it on my own after I walk out the salon door. He's created a style I can enjoy straight or curly, tame or totally wild, and the experience is always professional, relaxing and straight up fun.\r \r I'm a performer and present myself often in public or in media. i'd had my hair down to my shoulder blades for the past 13 years. since it was so easy to tie back and go, i stuck with it. lately though i'd felt i was in a rut with it and finally decided that i wanted a change. i was referred to scott kane by a local bicycle fabricator (vanillabicyclesdotcom). \r \r over the last two years i'd been searching the magazines for a new and shorter style. but not so short that i'd look like a republican senator from from texas (i live in texas). i also didn't want anything too trendy. \r \r i flew up to portland for a bicycle show in feb. and made an appointment during that same week. i wasn't as nervous as most might be. scott came highly recommended and i was ready to get it cut. \r \r the atmosphere was very nice. it was a great mix of ease and diligence but never frantic or hurried. \r \r i'd had many cuts since i grew it out and most weren't that good. one thinned my hair so much, some people thought i was losing my hair! \r \r scott took the time to look over my hair type and was really receptive to my tangent laden train of thought. he suggested a cut and i went for it. and i loved it! \r \r it was still a bit on the long side but looked so good that i went back that same weekend to get it cut just a bit shorter. the result was even better than the first. it was really great too get the chance to cut it in stages so it wasn't such a drastic change. \r \r coming back home, the compliments were all positive. the best thing was that _i_ really liked it. it's such a versatile cut that all i need is a small amount of product and a few passes with my fingers and i'm gone. \r \r i wish i lived closer to portland...but now i have an excuse to visit a bit more frequently.\r \r overall, it was a wonderful experience, at the hands of a skilled professional who has far exceeded his reputation. \r \r thanks a million scott more

I was refered To Meleni about a year ago, after another stylist ruined my hair. She fixed my color, and the price was affordable! She is the best. I get compliments ALL the time on my do! Anyone who colors their should go here. Hours are flexible. Pros: She works eves & weekends. more

I knew that the moment my Starbuck's customer walked through the door that I wanted HER Hairstylist's number! I'm a shy person so it felt awkward but it was the kind of 'wow' that I just had to ask. Walked into Propaganda the very next day and personally made an appointment with Scott. Even now, as I live in Bellevue WA, with top-rated, Seattle featured salons at my doorstep, I will muddle through Seattle traffic on a Friday after work to make it there for my Saturday appointment because I WILL ONLY let the team at Propaganda touch my hair! They are so intelligent with color and so precise with their cuts. IN ADDITION- I've never had a stylist I wanted to hug, or looked forward to seeing at every appointment like I do with Propaganda. They make you laugh, care about what's going on in your life, and treat you like family. They might even grace you with a playfull accoustic guitar session... I love them! I just recently went to a party where 3 people pulled me aside and asked who does you hair? I love the color and the cut. I am turning 40 this year and I think i look better than i did in my 20's mainly cuz of my Rockin Hairstyle that Scott Kane gives me everytime- I seriously leave there and feel like i get looked at and noticed more than ever! Trained in NYC, Scott Kane has taught color and styling in Portland and could go toe to toe with the best in the country. I live in Southern Oregon and first started going to Propaganda on the recommendation of my daughter who's a client. Not only does Scot give me the best haircuts I've ever had but the salon atmosphere is relaxing and friendly. Of all the salons I've ever gone to over the years Propaganda is my absolute favorite! Propaganda is an awesome salon! Everyone is incredibly friendly and you might just be serenaded by the talented staff playing the guitar and singing. I have thick hair that tends towards the curly side and Scott cuts it better than anyone ever has. He thins it in a way I've never seen before and it always looks good from the day after it's cut to the day before it gets cut again! Scott also is very creative when you're ready for a change, but also listens closely so the change is just what you can handle and not too drastic!
