When in doubt, call Jennifer at Propaganda. She sometimes laughs at my tendency to procrastinate but always lets me leave with my dignity. And without my baseball hat. She can work miracles in minutes and reminds me that it's called a hair DO. Not a hair DON'T. Pros: Fabulous neighborhood. Great crew. Extraoradinary stylist in Jennifer. Scott Kane is an AMAZING hairstylist. He has been my stylist for over ten years and I've always got a great haircut and/or color. I get many compliments on my hair and it always looks great until my next cut, which is usually about 12 weeks in between--sometimes he looks at it and says, ""It actually still looks pretty good!""--and I agree. I feel so lucky to have found him and if I ever move, I will fly to Portland to get my hair done by him. I'm not joking! Pros: Awesome haircut everytime more

SCOTT KANE IS A GENIUS! I have never gone to a salon and left with such satisfaction. I came to him without any picture or any idea what i wanted....we talked and i told him my basic preferences. Through our chit-chat his vision came to him and his idea based on what i am involved in and what he heard from me. I left with the first haircut that i can honestly say portrays who I am. Since that day in June I have recieved repeated daily compliments on my hair and how gorgeous the cut is. I have recommended him and will continue to recommend him to anyone that asks me where they should go.\r \r He is a gem and I am so happy that I have the opportunity to have such a talented hairstylist. more

I went to Propaganda Salon on a wim and I got right in with Jennifer Scholtes she cut and colored my hair and it was the best cut and color I have ever had. I didn't know my hair could be so interesting and longlasting...Scott cuts hair so it stays looking good until the next cut. I have super fine and straight hair and he gave it texture and shape and I always get compliments on it. I think my hair is more popular than I am. I can't go anywhere else now. I have never been to a more frendly salon!The hair dressers don't just let you sit in a chair and wait they talk to you and become friends with you!I personaly recomend the owner!He makes it seam like you have only been their 15 min when really it has been normal time for what you got done!But if you don't like a nice atmosphere,Cool people,good services and good quallity then this is not the plance for you!Try it once and trust me you will go back I know I have been getting my hair done their for 11 years and have not been disapointed once!But since they are so good dont call the day of the day you want your hair done! The owner will some times even give up his break to give a walk in a trim! more

Walk away happy and looking hot!! I have seen Liz on several occasions and gone to many other stylist. Liz is the only stylist who consistently gives me exactly what I want. Definitely one of the best stylists in Portland. more

I discovered Joseph almost a year ago after 2 acquaintences with awesome cuts told me he was their stylist. Joseph can cut my hair every bit as well as the stylist I had years ago before I moved to this area. No more frizzy, blown dried hair! No more lop-sided cuts. Joseph does an excellant cut amplyfing the natural curl and waves in my hair. He is an extremely talented hair dresser and I personally recomend him. Besides that I drive over 100 miles to have him do my hair!! more

...and they won't stab you with their scissors. And no one mocks you if you sing along to ""Tainted Love"" on the radio while you're getting your cut. After spending mega-moola at a downtown salon for a couple of years, I was referred to this salon (and a specific stylist - Layla) by a friend whose hair color & cut I consistenly admired. I love the atmosphere, everyone there is friendly, Layla always listens to what I want to do & is flawless in making my every hair wish come true....all for half of what I was paying at my previous salon. I'm thinking of hiring personal bodyguard protection for this stylist, because if anything ever happens to her, I'll be lost. If you're looking for an excellent haircut in a less-stuffy-than-downtown-or-the-pearl-snobby-places environment, this is your scene. Pros: Friendly staff, Excellent stylists, Great prices more

After a bit of scrambling I found my haircutter Carl at this tucked away hair salon. I was unfamiliar with the neighborhood, but found that parking was easier than I planned, and the area has tons of local flavor. The space was friendly and laid back. I will gladly go back. Pros: easy parking, great local eateries, clost to STUMPTOWN! more
