I have been a regular customer of Preferred Automotive and Gary McKee for over thirty years. They do a thoroughly professional job, are scrupulously honest, and fair to boot. I even go to them for my warranty maintenance. Gary and his knowledgable staff utilize the internet extensively to keep up with the technical state of the art. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the Rockville/Silver Spring area. more

I have been going to prefeered automotive for the last pass years and would like to thank them for all the wonderful services. The service is great and I have no complaint there are time when I have gone in without an appointment and still got the work done that I needed. I would like to say to the owner you have a great shop and a shop full of wonderful works that will get the job done. I was advised to go to Preferred Automotive by a coworker who had used them for years. I went once, and was so pleased that I have now brought all of our cars there for various services. They are fabulous! They care about the work that they do, keep you updated on what needs to be done, and do everything quickly and efficiently and reasonably. more

No one's better than Preferred! 10/27/2010

After seeing all the great reviews of Preferred Automotive throughout the internet, I decided to give them a shot for my recent 90K maintenance work. Boy, was I glad I did. I found everyone from the folks at the front desk (Sean and Gary - one of the owners) to the mechanics to be extremely friendly, courteous, and honest. Sitting in the office waiting for my car, I was amazed with how well both Sean and Gary knew their customers even asking about their family. It was obvious that these were long-time customers as their interactions were so genuine. This is something you definitely do not see at the dealers or any franchise shops. These guys don't pressure anyone into unnecessary services, they take the time to explain everything. They were so honest with everyone. \r \r By the way, if you need to go somewhere (e.g. shopping or work) after dropping off your car, they'll be more than willing to give you a lift. OUTSTANDING! 5/26/2010

Preferred Automotive is the most honest car repair shop that I have ever been to. I have been going to this shop for about 14 years. I have never stayed with one mechanic for so long. Everyone is extremely courteous and the serivce is terrific. Once you go to Preferred you will never take your car to another shop. more

Completely trustworthy, honest, and very hospitable. 5/4/2010

Preferred Automotive has been very good to me. I started going there many years ago, in 1997, and have continued to use them because they are honest. You can trust them, and that is very important. They kept my 1987 Chevy Caprice going for a long time. When it finally stopped running, Gary McKee, one of the owners of Preferred Automotive, did some research and found me available cars in my price range. I appreciated his help because I did not know how to go about getting a different car on my own. I bought a car on Gary's recommendation, a 2001 Buick Regal, and have been very happy with it. I call it God's car...it's a dream car. The McKee brothers also are very hospitable. I live about 7 miles from their shop and, when I take my car in for a check-up, I can wait in their shop or they will take me home and come back and pick me up. Outstanding service in Metropolitan Maryland. 5/4/2010

If you don't take your car to Preferred Automotive first you're dumb. I have used lots of mechanics in the area and I have never met a group with higher integrity, better customer service response, and individual attention and consideration. I would never take any of my cars anywhere else unless they are under warranty. I have bought 3 cars from them, and they are the best I have ever owned. For our repairs I bring all of my family's cars there, including my 2 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom have young children. Therefore it is very important to me to have good repairs. The Preffered Automotive Team is courteous, organized, thorough, and dedicated. Their goal is to serve the customer, so that their car preforms with reliability and safety. I have been going to Preferred since 2000. I have always recieved excellent service, a detailed summary of what has been done on my vehicle and what needs to be done. I have also recieved coupons for various services. I have always been treated fairly and honestly. Prefferred is flexible and provides transportation if needed. I have never been disappointed with anything. They always give an estimate before they do work and they also will prioritize repairs or services if the cost is an issue. Prefferred always makes sure that your car is safe and superiorly maintained for the road. It's actually quite a delight to get my car serviced. I have been going to Preferred for many years for one primary reason: I can trust them. Knowing nothing about cars, I could easily be fooled into making unnecessary repairs. But Gary and Mike tell me when I don't need something fixed as well as when I do. They are genuinely caring individuals who want to make their customers happy. I have been taking my cars to Preferred Automotive for a couple of years now. They are EXCELLENT. Gary McKee is an OUTSTANDING invididual who is HONEST and CARING. He will tell you what is wrong with the vehicle, what the alternative are and how much it might cost UPFRONT. His service is also OUTSTANDING. He stands behind his work 100%. I know that I would NEVER think of taking my cars to anyone else. His staff is knowledgeable and friendly and willing to go ABOVE and BEYOND want one would expect of them. more

Finally a honest auto shop 2/25/2009

Preferred is the best. Not just because they are efficient and friendly but because they are ultra honest.\r \r I took my car in and they told me about a warranty that just expired from the dealership. They told me I should first go back to dealership and see if they would honor that warranty even though it was a couple months old. They did and I saved multiple thousands of dollars. I would have never known about this if it weren't for Preferred Auto. They have earned my business for a lifetime. Since then I have gotten a ton of work done on a couple different cars. I have been using Preferred Automotive for over 4 years for my oil changes, car maintenance, etc. Between my husband and I, we've brought 3 cars to Preferred Automotive because of our complete confidence in their work! They were originally recommended to me by one of my patients, and I also, in turn, am constantly referring them to everyone I know.I would recommend bringing your car in for a check up. Even if it has recently been serviced. Your car will be better than ever. I have worked with many automotive repair shops over the past 20 years to maintain service vehicles for my electrical contracting company. I continue to do business with Preferred Automotive for 2 reasons. Customer service and experienced mechanics that are able to prevent repairs before they are needed. The pricing is more than fair but the proactive approach to repairs is how we rate our savings and true value. Preferred Automotive is the bench mark for all automotive repair shops in the area. Whether you have a fleet to maintain or just your daily ride, my suggestion is to give Preferred a try and then see if you don't agree. Preferred wrote the book on customer satisfaction. more
