The Only Place to Take Your Vehicle 3/3/2011

I have been taking my cars to Preferred for many years and have referred many friends and family alike. The service, integrity, and honesty is top notch. I know nothing about how my car works and need a car technician that I totally trust will give me honest advice and service at a fair price. These guys go over and beyond that. Top Tier, Fair Pricing! 3/3/2011

I've been going to Preferred for over 10 years now. My whole family uses Preferred. Nobody ever wants to pay to have their car fixed, but there's something really great about knowing that you're always going to get a fair shake. Mike, Gary, the whole crew, even the new hires seem to embody the same principles of the founders. Take your car to them, tell them your problems, and let them work their magic. more

I am a fan of Preferred Automotive! 1/27/2011

EXCEPTIONAL!!! I do not know what I would have done without Preferred Automotive over the past 15 years. Our family has owned many "older" cars over the years and Preferred keeps us on the road. Their customer service is stellar, and their pricing is always honest and fair. They also stand 100% behind their work. The staff are professional, friendly and very concerned about providing the customer with the best service and quality of repair. They have a convenient "night drop" service if you need to leave your car after hours. Going above and beyond, they even took the time to instruct my teenagers about basic care maintenance and safety when they started driving. When we needed to buy another used car quickly, they were able to help us out and found an inexpensive car in good condition that my teenage son could drive to school. Recommendation 5* 12/2/2010

Five * I have had Gary and Mike repair my cars for the last 20 years and without reservation highly recommend them to repair domestic and foe starsreign cars. They are dependable and very competent and stand behind their work. Recently, a new radiator was installed in my toyota. It started to leak and they replaced it within 24 hours with no charge. Anytime I had a car problem, they addressed it the same day or within 24 hours. more

Recommendation 11/25/2010

I have used Preferred Auto for about 20 years. They have service both my BMW and Mountaineer, The office atmosphere is nearly like that of a family. I believe I received very good service for a reasonable price over all the years. I would highly recommend their service. more

Quality Maintenance For Less Money 11/24/2010

We have two Honda Accords. These guys beat the periodic maintenance price every time. I highly recommend taking your car there for factory maintenance or if you have a problem. Don't get screwed by the dealership.\r \r I've also used them in a price point comparison with Honda in the past. I usually save at least 20%. Go to the dealer and get a quote for any issue, then call Preferred. more

So Glad I Heard About Them! 11/24/2010

When my car broke down on Rockville Pike unexpectedly, I was referred to Preferred Automotive from a co-worker. I was so happy to find them! Sean came out and helped me get my car to a safe spot to be towed to Preferred Automotive. They fixed my car (replaced two sensors) in a very timely manner, communicated throughout the process, and provided a very fair price. I felt great with my car in their very capable hands, will return in the future, and will eagerly recommend Preferred Automotive to others. The staff (Sean, Gary, etc.) are extremely friendly and professional. more

As a matter of fact, I have taken my vehicle to the dealership for repairs and on a couple of occasions, with two different vehicles. the problem wasn't solved permanently until I had it serviced by Preferred Auto. I was so relieved when I found Preferred Automotive. Finally a place I can take my car and my kids cars to that I can trust. They always tell me what needs to be done but also what is needed immediately and what can wait. They have helped my family several times with pick ups from work, rentals, and recognizing a real emergency and just being available. Best in the DC area, bar none! 11/12/2010

For over 35 years, once the dealer warranty has expired, I have taken all of my family's autos only to Preferred for service. I have always trusted them to tell me what was needed, especially for safety, when it was needed, and to give me the actual costs involved, and I have never found their charges to be out of line with anyone else's in the Washington, DC area. Their service is first rate and they never fail to follow up to make sure everything is OK. I trust their work implicitly, and will continue to use them, as will all of my family. I would recommend them to anyone, and often do! more

My parents used them for years so when my husband and I moved to the area it was only natural to bring our cars there too. They are fantastic! They fixed a problem in one try that took my mechanic in NY two years of back and forth to work on. They really know their trade, they are honest, and they give good advice as to when to spend the money to fix something and when to hold off and save. I would never consider bringing my cars anywhere else. more

Preferred Automotive is Outstanding 11/9/2010

Preferred Automotive has handled all of my car maintenance and repair for 20 years. A coworker originally referred me to them, and I am truly grateful to her for that. As a single woman who is not knowledgeable about the technical aspects of cars, I do not have to worry because I know that Gary and Mike, and now also Sean, will always treat me with honesty and respect. With previous auto shops I had used, I could never be sure that they were not using my lack of technical knowledge to perform unnecessary repairs or to overcharge me. Gary and Mike run a family business and have always explained any work which needed to be done in detail in advance and given me all the possible options for maintenance or repair. I come in every three months for a lube, oil, and filter change, and they have all the data in their records concerning which maintenance items are due at that time. I have been taking my cars to Gary and Mike for almost 20 years and have always rec'd good and, most importantly, HONEST service. After moving to the Annapolis and trying out a few inferior service centers in Anne Arundel county, I find it's worth the piece of mind to drive back to Rockville to have my car looked at by these guys. If trust is something you value, you can be assured you won't be gouged or up-selled and getting your car fixed or maintained at the best price is what you'll find! more

They flagged a major problem 11/5/2010

I have used Preferred Automotive for a decade and always have received good service. The staff is courteous, competent, and fair. My most memorable experience with Preferred occurred in 2009, when I took in my wife's Subaru Forester for routine service at about 20,500 miles. Preferred informed me that the coolant level was low. After eliminating several possible sources of the trouble, Preferred advised me to take the car to the dealer if it still was under warranty-- it was, barely --to have it checked for possible head gasket failure or a cracked block. After eliminating lesser possibilities, the dealer ended up replacing the entire engine --and as Preferred had suggested, it was covered by warranty. Thanks to Preferred for flagging the trouble and referring me to the dealer for warranty work. more

Great service, friendly atmosphere 11/5/2010

Performace is a great service center. The staff are friendly, honest and not out to take you for a ride. They offered good advice on safety items I was not aware of. They explained options to me if I wanted to save a dime on costs, but keep my old car on the road. I would recommend them to anyone. more

I've lost track of how many years we've been customers of Preferred Automotive, but I can easily remember the peace of mind that descended on the auto-maintenance part of our lives when we became customers. No more wondering whether repairs were needed; no more concern over whether or not they were done correctly; no more hassling over how quickly work would (or would not) be done; no surprises when the bill comes. Trust above all 11/4/2010

In the automotive repair business I always look for a company I can trust and feel comfortable I'm not getting ripped off. Preferred Automotive gives me that and more. I have taken three different vehicles to them with various problems and always felt confident the job was done right the first time with no hidden charges ever arising. Their estimates have always been spot on and I have never felt I was being ripped off ( as I have from other companies). I would recommend them to any and all. more
