These guys are absolute crooks. Do not take your car here.

I wouldn't take my car anywhere else if I had a problem. 4/5/2013

Jerry, who is the owner, is extremely knowledgeable. He doesn't try to rip you off. His prices are a little high, but he knows exactly what he's doing. He doesn't try to tag on anything that's not necessary. My experience with dealers and other mechanics has been they don't know what they are doing, but Jerry does. My family also takes their cars to him. more

Very satisfactory. 4/3/2013

Penn Garage was great. They did exactly what they said they would do, in the time they said they would do it, and at the price they said they would do it. more

Thanks to them, my car purrs like a kitten! 4/1/2013

This was my first experience with Penn Garage. They worked on my BMW. They replaced the headlight and did a tune-up and worked on my brakes. My car runs so good, it purrs like a kitten. I'll definitely be going back again! Mrs. Sirochman more

Penn Garage Automotive Service to ALL Makes and Models! 3/29/2013

In the past while having my LAND ROVER serviced by the LAND ROVER Dealership, I'd had nothing but problems with my car...non-stop. One fortunate day in the summer of 2011 I met Terry Harnish at a local gas station and he gave me his Business card. Since my car has now Serviced at Penn Garage since 2011, ALL my former non-stop car issues & problems have stopped. And now I'm IN "Normal-Regular Maintenace mode!" And now I can actually afford my services. Thank you Penn Garage for your Wonderful Service not only to my car but to all my friends and family referrals cars as well! more

Very Dishonest, Dangerous 7/29/2011

I took my car in b/c it was running a little rough in fifth gear on the highway. It was $80 for the diagnostics and Terry told me that it was my fuel pump and that it would cost about $250 to replace and the diagnostic cost would be included in the $250. I agreed to have the fuel pump replaced. He then told me he had to remove the whole fuel tank to replace the pump and that it was more difficult than he estimate increasing the cost to $300. Then Terry called and told me I needed a new sending unit that cost over $200. When I asked Terry for an itemized bill it was $700+. Terry charged $500 for the fuel pump and sending unit alone. I paid Terry $200 for the labor but not the parts and asked him to put the pieces in the trunk and I would have a tow truck come and get it. He agreed and took the money but refused to release the car to the tow truck driver the next day. I found out after I got home from work. After I picked up the fuel pump and the sending unit at an auto store for ~$100 and told Terry to put them in. He gave me some lip about not taking a steak to a chef. I ended up getting out of there paying Terry $500. not to mention the $100 of auto store parts. When I was driving out Terry told me the brake line was leaking a little. I turns out that the line runs right by the gas tank and was completely crushed. the red brake light was on when I started the car, the pedal dropped to the floor, I had no brakes at all. I just took the back roads home and used the hand brake. I called and spoke with Terry about the brake line and he told me that it was leaking as soon as he put it up on the lift and that it just rusted through and all the brake lines needed replaced. I took it to another mechanic to have the lines replaced and they told me that it was crushed right at the corner of the gas tank. They also said that the lines looked fairly new. That was b/c my father had the brake and fuel lines replaced for me when I went to school. After I was able to travel on the highway the car still had the same issue when in fifth gear o the highway. Terry and Penn Garage are very dishonest business men and very poor mechanics. more

Thieves, Crooks,or just plain stupid ? 2/19/2011

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE. My son took his truck to find out what the engine noise was. After $3,400 ( twice the value of his 1990 chevy s-10) the engine blew up 2 days later. They claimed to have done a complete valve job, but never removed the valve covers or cylinder heads. They took advantage of my 18 year old, who works full time and is a full time student also. Now he does'nt have a ride to school or work because of Terry and his band of thieves. What they did borders on criminal activity. SEE YOU IN COURT, TERRY ! more

Great Personal Service/Honest 4/24/2009

Have been going to Terry at Penn for years, and I could never imagine going elsewhere. He is Honest, and makes sure you and your car are taken care of.\r He has breathed new life into my 1974 VW on several occassions and hopefully for many more years to come. He Just Takes Care of You Pros: Always goes the extra step more

Great service, great place 4/4/2009

I have been taking my car to this mechanic for 17 years. They have always communicated with me, taken my financial situations seriously, worked out payment plans for ""have to"" fixes, and worked out alternatives when they could. They have provided honest assessments and quality work for my family for over 20 years, as my parents began taking their cars to them before I could drive. We have never had a problem with their service or their work. Pros: Consistent, caring, professional service. more

In process of filing complaints at appropriate location 10/3/2008

An (ambulance) mechanic who had done work on my car suggested that before I take a long trip consider having the water pump replaced. This mechanic estimated a cost of $400.00 to $500.00. Penn Garage is close to my home so I went there. I was billed $1,677.00 for repairs I know I did not need! I had purchased the used car from McDonald Auto and had them replace the timing belt as a condition of my purchase. Terry stated that it wasn't ""a very good timing belt"". Terry's ""better"" timing belt failed 17,000 miles and two years later while I was 20 miles away from home - replaced in Westminister for over $1000.00. I have received no support just BS from Terry. This mechanic is not ethical. Stay far away from this shop! Cons: Everything more

I won't be taking my car here in the future 8/2/2008

As my husband had taken his car to this garage with no troubles, I didn't hesitate to take my car here. At first their service seemed fine - I was able to get a quick appointment, and the customer service by the owner was very pleasant. When I went to pick up my car from having the brakes replaced, however, things went sour pretty quickly. Apparently, they have a standard practice of washing your engine, which is funny because a recent article on cnn states that this is the 2nd worst thing you can do to a modern car. When I went to pick up my car after this washing, it suspiciously wouldn't run. Well, it would but it was shaking so violently that my vision was blurred and the check engine light was flashing (both things that were working fine before I took it there). The owner then kept the car for 4 more days trying to figure out what was wrong, and said that it had nothing to do with what they did there. Further, he attempted to charge us for the labor to find the problem and the mark up on the part to fix what was eventually wrong. After a very heated conversation he agreed to 'only' charge us for the part (at cost). Nice, but not enough considering the car ran fine when it went in. I won't be taking my car here in the future. Pros: Local business Cons: See review more

This repeat customer has changed her tune - DO NOT use this garage! 3/18/2008

I was impressed with the friendly service and decent prices - AT FIRST. Unfortunately, the service and prices continued to worsen, but I continued to go there in hopes that I would start to get some perks for being a repeat customer. At one point they had given me a laundry list of things that needed attention - in which I fixed - (approx $300 the first time, $500 the second time). 3 weeks later my car screeched, and came to a dying halt in the middle of rush hour traffic. I had it towed back to Penn Garage and found that my timing belt had broken which in turn had bent all my valves - completely kililng my engine. Don't you think after a laundry list of things they fixed for over $800, he'd notice my timng belt??? The car only had 80K miles - and is now in a junk yard because of this negligence. I have more negative stories with my previous visits - but I think this one pretty much takes the cake. Pros: Guy looks like a young Leif Garret Cons: ummmm - my car is dead because of them more

Rude service, faulty parts 1/11/2008

I recently wen there to get a few things done. I asked how much this would cost to fix everything. About $150 he replied. When I got the bill it was $287. I did not approve him to do $287 worth of work. But he did it anyway. One thing being getting my headlight fixed. Well they ""fixed"" the headlight with a ""new"" bulb. One month later the bulb that he replaced blew out. ONE MONTH. I took it back to them to fix the faulty part they had given me thinking they would be cool and replace it for free. Well the bulb was free but he wanted to charge me $30 labour. I stated that this was not very fair considering if he had given me a part that worked I would not be here. He was very rude after that and replied ""if it wasn't such a pain in the a#% I would have done it for free"". $30 to change a lightbulb... Are you serious? I will never go back there and would advise you to do the same. Pros: What pro's Cons: Yes these guys are major Cons more

Great guys 5/18/2007

I used to work on cars with my father as a kid but most mechanics believe if you are female, you cannot possibly know anything about a car. These guys are super nice, smart and very respectful. They do great work and make you feel like you're a friend. \r \r I'm surprised by the other ratings because I really like these guys and I don't like most mechanics. I know when I'm being ripped off and I've never been ripped off there. \r \r It's a great place - especially if you want to be treated like a person. Pros: Great people, great service Cons: hours more

WORST GARAGE IN ALL OF DENVER 1/16/2007

I love to support my local small business, but these guys will rip you off from here to texas. I went in for an oil change. A SIMPLE OIL CHANGE. I told them not to touch anything else. They charged me over $90 for this precious oil. They will nickle and dime you for every little thing, and charge you a $40 service fee on top of it. They are insulting, and I will NEVER return. Cons: They will make you pay $80 for an oil change more

Stay away 7/24/2006

Be careful with these guys. I took my car in when I had a business trip. They had 4 days to do what eventually was 5 hours labor. When I called on the day I was coming back, they basically said ""what car? we aren't working on your car?"" When I said I was coming by to get it that night, they suddenly found the car and locked it inside where I couldn't get to it. Then I made the mistake of letting them go ahead and work on my car since they now had at least found it. It took them three more business days to somehow do that five hours labor, then they charged me double of what they had said it would cost.\r \r All I can say is I'm never going back. And I'd warn anyone else to be very wary of these guys. Cons: they lost my car ... that sums it up. It took the seven business days to do a 5 hour job. more
