A lot has changed in the Peloton over 6/8/2012

A lot has changed in the Peloton over the past three years. What was originally a somewhat upscale community with owner occupied units is now becoming a rental complex. The additional building interiors are currently under construction and will be rented, not owned...turning the Peloton into just another Boulder apartment complex. The big problem is that the amenities cannot accommodate that many residents. What were the developers thinking when they built a pool that size for this many units?! The pool area is already crowded due to the college students who live here. As another reviewer said, they always have a group of friends with them. And it's true, the noise and yelling in the hallways is also a problem. There is zero soundproofing with the doors to these units. And it is loud in the center parking area with delivery trucks and people peeling away. I have even been flipped off by some kids while relaxing on my balcony. Not good. more

Developer's Dream / Resident Nightmare 8/29/2011

The folks here posting good things about the Peloton are only kidding themselves. This sort of place is the bane to what Boulder stands for - but I guess when you are retiring from California or sending your 18 year old to CU, dropping 350k+ on poorly constructed unit as you really have no practical sense of reality. The units themselves are pretty dismal. Cheap craftsmenship and cost-cutting is abound. Check your paint job. See your concrete ceiling above your head? Ever wonder while your 895sq ft piece of heaven is really dusty all of the time - that cheap concrete is partly to blame. I guess in quick summary, whether you are 18 or 81, the Peloton creates a pretty awkward environment for everyone involved. From the insane HOA who will cite you from everything from keeping your balcony light on, to storing plants, to the lovely smell of weed and cheap liquor to the elevators on the weekends, the people peeling out leaving the outdoor parking the Peloton may just be right for you! Given that a high-number of units are already for sale, people are obviously learning quickly and that this place is nothing more than a developer's dream and a residents nightmare. more

Boulder is About College Kids! 12/12/2010

The Peloton is going uphill. Mr. MacRaild isn't too savvy. Boulder IS ALL ABOUT COLLEGE STUDENTS! This is why investors buy property here! Boulder real estate values are high and stable - over 50% of all properties in Boulder are rentals. This includes homes in areas where they sell for over $1M. I do live at the Peloton, and we bought for the future investment. If we have to move, we will be able to rent this property. God save anyone having to sell in this market - you would compete with the property developer. I love heading to the pool area and enjoying the view. No offense to the elderly population, but I'd much rather soak in the view including college kids working on their tans! The kids here are looking for a quieter environment, and are mainly graduate students. Sure parents help with the purchase, but so what. The community center is wonderful, and it is built for people to USE IT. We have a diverse community, and you'll find students, hipsters (hipsters love the lofts), people with small children, retirees, plenty of singles, and couples. People tend to talk to each other here. This isn't a battle zone. The environment is still pleasant. As for ""mature"", it is NOT a senior citizen's home, and thank God for that. The Peloton is very convenient, a lot of fun, and worth it. I'd bet that many reviewers just want to drive the price down with bad reviews so they can buy at a lower price. more

Going down hill ! 9/4/2010

I also have to agree with Deana and getmeout. I am looking to invest in property in Boulder and decided to rent an apartment in the Peloton before I made a final decision to purchase. My intention was to buy two apartments in the Peloton community. One was for myself and the other was an investment property. My intention was to lease the second apartment to a mature Boulder professional. My first impressions were positive although I soon became concerned over the increasing number of very young college students. Over the past few months the atmosphere has changed from a pleasant and mature community to a one that is starting to resemble a college dorm. I have since become aware that the Peloton have changed directions in their marketing by focusing on the university students and their parents. The management at the Peloton seem confused about what this property is. Now we see young kids waving advertising boards on street corners trying to attract a sale to anyone. I thank my lucky stars I made the decision to rent before purchasing and can only feel sorry for those home owners who are trapped in this situation. I did not move here to have the pool constantly crowded with college kids and their increasingly large group of friends. I can no longer use the movie room and I am getting frustrated by the yelling and noise throughout the hallways. Come on Peloton....what the hell has happened??? more

Great amenities, but too many students. 6/5/2010

Upon first impression, The Peloton is a semi-upscale community with tasteful decor and great amenities. Being that the units are for sale and not rent, the atmosphere should be nicer the other condo/apartment communities in the area. However, when unit sales were down the Peloton marketed to the University and the result was parents purchasing and allowing their kids to live there. The problem with students is that they travel in packs, so one students moves in and twelve of their friends comes with them, using all the amenities with or without them. Suddenly the luxury environment feels like a college dorm. Not good. Pros: Amenities - Rooftop pool and Jacuzzis, fitness center, etc. Cons: Atmosphere not good due to buyers renting to students. more

Why live anywhere else? 8/14/2009

The location is actually a cherry. You can bike under Arapahoe and head to the country or downtown in the shaded Boulder Creek Bike Path. Scott Carpenter Park is across the street, and 29th St. Mall is next door. If you're in a hurry, you can bike to Pearl on Walnut - 1.5 miles. You don't have to deal with the tourists downtown unless you want to. You're right next to Foothills Pkwy - so commuting to work is a snap - that is if you can't bike to work like most of us. Or, take the bus using the free Eco pass. You can grab the bus to the airport or head to a Rockies or Broncos game without all the hassle. You can grab a bus to ski at Eldora in winter. I'm not too ""rich"" for the bus. The condos are exceedingly quiet, and you don't have wood construction. Y ou don't hear your neighbors. We're actually on a corner, so we are further away from our neighbors windows than we were in the 'burbs!! You can't beat the year round pool and hot tubs, the free wifi in the common area, the free DirecTV on all the plasma TV's and in the theater room. All we pay for outside HOA dues is electricity. We get free ""house"" gas for our grill, and we can legally HAVE a grill on our deck, because it isn't wood. The new restaurants are great! Pros: location and amenities Cons: slow to be accepted by a critical bunch more

A great addition to Boulder 5/26/2009

The Peloton is the first ""new-urban"" development in Boulder that doesn't cost a fortune (as compared to the developments near Pearl Street). It brings a meaningful number of new residences into central Boulder, which hopefully means less driving and more walking, biking and mass transit (I am a fan of all three). They have an amazing community center with a rooftop pool deck. FYI I don't normally write reviews on Citysearch, but felt compelled to offset The Peloton's first review, written by user Clark7. Click on his name and you'll see that his only other review is five-stars for the Horizon West Condominiums. I am assuming he lives there. The Peloton's HOA dues are comparable to other communities that don't offer anywhere near the same amenities. As I understand it, they will likely go down because of economies of scale when the second half of the development becomes part of the HOA. Nice try, Clark7. Pros: New-urban at an affordable price Cons: On major thoroughfare more

Just Another High Dollar Small Condo Project. 1/30/2009

I found the Peloton to be a fluke next to a main highway interstate exit. I give this place one star because the dues are low because people are not buying. Expect the dues to ( triple ) sky rocket by 2012 . The maintenance level on this place will be a large part of HOA increases and for the price you pay for a unit and square footage is a rip off. Expect this place to turn into Apartments. Cons: Thumbs Down Appearances are Deceptive more
