Christmas Eve and dinner with special friends 2008. This was our second time to dine at Old Warsaw and will be our last. Was worse than we had remembered. Service staff was unor...

Long past its prime 5/11/2008

Poor service: forgotten requests, inattention (long lag time between courses), general lack of any charm\r Mediocre food: soup not hot, mediocre filet, chocolate souffle with no taste, \r Generally a waste of three hours and $65 bucks a head\r more

Try somewhere else, maybe they will get the message! 3/31/2008

I wish I would have read the reviews before I made my reservations. My experience is exactly the same as many of the other patrons that have given a one star rating. My family was completely ignored by the wait staff, we have never seen such poor service, empty water glasses, pouring our own wine, and long, long intervals between taking our orders and delivery. \r Also, be very careful of the bill. When we noticed the bill was incorrect, overcharges for our meals and our wines. We brought this to the owners attention, as well as the poor service. He was completely arrogant, just smiling and saying ""you must pay the bill"". He had no concern whatsoever for the poor service or the error in the bill.\r We have told all of our friends in Dallas about our experience and will never return. \r There is so many good places and newer places to go in Dallas; why would anyone choose this restaurant with all of the bad reviews. Don't take a chance on a terrible evening. Pros: None, owner is arrogant, reason enough not to go. Cons: Service is far below other restaurants, dishonest staff, look over your bill. more

Avoid at all cost 3/3/2008

My husband and I have lived in Dallas for over 30 years and had never been to the Old Warsaw. We decided to try it for our wedding anniversary. What a huge mistake. The owner was arrogant and surley. We were placed at a table in a side room and were categorically ignored for the evening (we had reservations by the way). The waitstaff continued to roll carts in front of us to prepare other guests dinners as if we were in the kitchen. After an hour and one half of abuse we decided to leave. At that point they rushed our dinner out to us in ""to go"" boxes (which I think is against the city code) and demanded payment for the meal. We paid and left without the food. The owner was not the least bit interested in our dissatisfaction. It was truly the worst dining experience of our lives. more

The Old Warsaw is truly the best restaurant. 2/18/2008

I'm not sure why anyone would give bad reviews of the Old Warsaw, Me and my husband have been dining there 5 years and not once have they ever treated us disrespectful in any way. Im sure if you give it a try you will be able to give your own personal experience. For me their pianist and violinist create a romantic ambiance. Their service is very friendly and professional, and their food is so delicious it will keep you going back for more. Pros: Parking, Ambiance, Service, Food, Bar more

Worst experience I have ever had, avoid it 2/13/2008

The Old Warsaw has lost it's luster, and not deserving of its reputation. Our experience for a family dinner was highlighted by very poor service. We were seated promptly at our reservation time; however, after that the service went quickly down hill. Our waiter was basically non existent for most of the meal; we had to pour our own wine, and our water glasses were left empty. \r Several in our party did not receive what they ordered; and then to top it off our bill was wrong. \r The owner/manager was not sympathetic to our questions regarding our service or our bill; in fact I would have to say he was arrogant and confrontive.\r We will neve return; there are hundreds of places in Dallas that are better! Pros: Nothing, avoid at all costs Cons: Manager is rude and arrogant, service is non existent more

Great for Special Occasions 9/9/2007

My boyfriend surprised me for our one year anniversary by taking me to the Old Warsaw. When we stepped inside the door I was in awe of how beautiful it was. We were greeted by a lovely hostess who seated us promptly. The ambiance of this place was amazing, the room dimly lit by crystal chandeliers, and the perfect amount of light coming from a candle on your table, giving you an intimate setting. Although it appeared that almost every table in dining room was occupied, it seemed like it was only the two of us. The night became that much better when our food arrived-Simply amazing. While eating we listened to the piano-violin duet which they had, the evening went very well. We were promptly served, and there was always a member of the wait staff standing by to make sure your every need was met. The evening couldn?t have been romantic and perfect than it was. Pros: Ambience, valet, service...food...amazing more

Amazing Evening 9/1/2007

As my sister and I are getting ready to leave for college and preperatory school, I find there is not better place to spend quality family time than at The Old Warsaw. The music, the atmostphere, and the exquisite food all contribute to this unique dining experience. My family and I were crying in the first five minutes of our favorite song being played at our table ""I'll be seeing you."" I couldn't think of a better place to spend our most cherished moments. A truly memorable evening. more

Wonderful Evening!! 9/1/2007

When my friend suggested we go out for dinner at The Old Warsaw restaurant I was a little reluctant. I love French continental cuisine and although I had heard wonderful things about the restaurant, I had always put it in the ?special occasion? category. With a little less than a twist of the arm, he got his way. I called to set up a reservation and luckily there was one available for the next evening. When we arrived, we were greeted by the complimentary valet and helped out of our car. We were enthralled watching the sharks in the huge aquarium while waiting for our table (which only took a moment, thanks to the attentive hostess). The wait staff, all clad in tuxedos, seemed eager to tend to us. We were sat at a lovely table dressed in a white table cloth and set to the tee. We were pleasantly surprised when our conversation was interrupted by the live piano with violin accompaniment. What a wonderful touch. Our evening was almost perfect and we hadn?t even looked at the menu yet! \r \r We both ordered off the five course menu. I couldn?t decide between the brie soup and the lobster bisque?..but after much consideration I decided on the lobster bisque and it was fantastic. My friend, however, chose the brie soup and was just as pleased with his selection. We were later told by our server, that the brie soup is made from scratch, bowl by bowl, throughout the evening. We each opted for the Greek Salad and it was superb! My friend ordered the Goose Liver Pate for his appetizer and absolutely loved it! We loved the sorbet between the appetizer and the entree; it was an incredibly nice touch. When our entrees arrived, the Lobster Thermidor was amazing and my friend still hasn?t stopped talking about his Filet Mignon! The Bananas Foster for two was the perfect ending to the perfect evening. We had a great dinner, a great evening, and I learned a valuable lesson. Any night becomes a ?special occasion? when dining at The Old Warsaw!\r \r Pros: Wonderful Ambiance more

Avoid ever going! 8/8/2007

My boyfriend and I wanted to experience a great first year anniversary, but was let down. We were seated quickly to my surprise. We waited at least 30 minutes before our order was taken. The servers passed our table multiple times before anyone stopped and asked for our order. My boyfriend had steak that had to be sent back 3 times because thay couldn't get it right. The salad wasn't fresh at all, the crabcake was about the only dish that was worth eating. I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. Pros: The ambiance was nice Cons: Don't waste your money! more

Old Warsaw 7/10/2007

Brian and I had a lovely, romantic dinner on Saturday night for his birthday. Neither of us had previously dined at The Old Warsaw and our evening in your restaurant exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is so elegant and the food superb - we haven't stopped talking about the Brie Soup or the Bananas Foster! more

The dining experience of the year! 7/9/2007

Two couples in our party. Everything was exactly right and as expected for a high end restaurant. The service was impeccable, the food was fantastic, and the wines were outstanding. We ordered dinner from the prix fixe menu so we could spend more on wine. The sommellier was incredible. If you need any help with wine he is knowledgable and courteous and doesn't make you feel bad about asking any question you might come up with. The food was astounding, particularly the brie soup. It doesn't sound like it would be a sublime taste experience, but trust me it is. I just wish I could win the lottery so I could eat there every week! Pros: Food, Wine , Service, did I mention Food? Cons: Expensive, but for a special occasion definitely worth it. more

Amazing for Special Occasions!!! Food and Service! 5/29/2007

What a magical evening we had at The Old Warsaw celebrating my parents 50th anniversary last weekend! The Stars Room was ideal, sparkling setting for the dinner, and the service and food were exactly what has made your restaurant famous for years. I can't recall ever hosting an event that ran more smoothly, and your warmth, hospitality, and organization made it happen. And most of all, our parents were on top of the world. Any place that can host and toast them as the amazing and beloved people that they are will always hold a special place in our hearts forever. You did exactly that, and we are very, very grateful!\r Pros: Food, Service, Ambiance, Live Music more

Dining at its best! 5/27/2007

\r The Old Warsaw is by far the most fantastic dining experience I have had in a very long time. \r From the time that you walk in, you are treated like royalty. The service is fantastic and the food is simply unparallel. To start off with, I had their exquisite lobster bisque. I also had their filet stuffed with crab meat and it was to die for. Yet the best part of the meal would have to be the dessert. I had their heavenly bananas foster. I would definitely recommend this fine establishment to anyone, especially for an unforgettable romantic evening.\r \r more

HUMILITATING EXPERIENCE 3/12/2007

I have dined on a quarterly basis for 5+ years and struck up a first name basis with Al who is the owner. I purchased a $250 gift card at a charity auction for well over face value. I dined with a major account on Saturday night, 3/10, well exceeding the gift card amount. I realized after dining that the card was 40 days expired (which is my fault, as was pointed out I should have read, my fault). In a friendly manner I asked the owner if I could receive at least partial credit (even a comp desert), at which time I was ridiculed and told no, I should have read the card. Appalled, I explained that I dine on a regular basis and with such treatment I would not return for future business. I was told ""so what, I don't care"". I have spent in excess of $3,000.00 with the Old Warsaw, and to be treated in this manner is sickening. I, at least, expected partial credit. I did not expect to be rediculed by the owner. His advice, ask the American Red Cross for a refund. Dine here? Dallas has too many fine restaurants with credible ownership to support such a ""minor league"" operation. more
