This is my on-going story of how pivotal receiving therapy from Ofra Eldor has been to my emotional health, my life and my whole evolution.
My new employer in the later half of 2010 provided an employee benefit within the medical plan I chose making Therapy with a mental health professional available. It was very good fortune that I chose that particular plan, because within three months of starting that new job I became mortally depressed and my United Behavioral Health plan paid for nearly all of my weekly (twice weekly in the beginning) sessions. Not only was the new job working with a terrible boss and another hostile co-worker, my finances were in total ruin, my house was going into foreclosure and my marriage to my beautiful young wife was dissolving within months of our wedding... all this and more happening at the exact same time!
That terrible day when I could not work another second, I sought help with the company psychologist. She recognized the incredible trauma I was under and instantly selected three choices (out of many dozens she personally knew) for the therapist she thought had the greatest skills, caring qualities, intelligence and reputation of successfully assisting people in enormous crises. It was great providence that I chose Ofra Eldor out of the three!
Ofra is almost always fully booked and it was extraordinary that on that same day I spoke with the company psychologist (and left my job for medical leave), Ofra had a cancellation which made an opening for me that very same day!
Even though I was in severe stress shock, I could sense that Ofra was an unusually strong person with all the patience, compassion, intuitive abilities and superb observational skills that I would need to help guide me through my painful dibilitation. I also quickly learned that Ofra has an outstanding memory with the ability to recall minute details from every one of our previous conversations. Over the nearly one and one-half years of weekly sessions I've had with Ofra, I continue to be amazed by her recollection of every one of the dozens of names of people I've shared with her about my life situations.
The year from October 2010 to October 2011 saw the absolute most suffering of my entire lifetime. There were several instances where I thought I would die of a heart attack or stoke because I had lost the will to live. It is true that a person can die of a broken heart, literally. Through it all, Ofra was always there for every session and returned all my phone calls in between sessions to give support, sometimes for an hour or more.
When my UBH plan ended because my employer medically separated me, Ofra extended a significant discount so that I could continue my weekly sessions (she knew that I had no money). She also has never charged me for all those phone calls where she basically gave me impromptu sessions.
Another critical need that I had was for Ofra to document every session, fill out tons of forms for my Disability Insurance claims and talk over the phone with the disability insurance medical representatives. This activity alone has seen Ofra busy on my behalf for many, many hours outside of our sessions (and phone calls). She has done all this without the slightest protest, never charged me extra and continues to do this for me to this day. Mostly because of Ofra's efforts, I have received disability payments that has saved my house from foreclosure (for now) and allowed me to survive while I continue my recovery.
I am truly blessed to be a client of Ofra Eldor. Ofra is a powerhouse of psychotherapies, insights, kindness and synergistic support.
